I’m sure this has probably been asked before many, many times but what’s stopping you buying on Stamp (at clearly lower prices) & then going straight to Bitfinex & selling (at a higher price).

Rinse & repeat.

Would it be that easy or am I missing something?

Just the usual barriers to arbitrage (which could in theory be negated by having "stock" of fiat/stablecoin and a stock of BTC on both exchanges)  other than that its withdrawal times and transfer fees, plus before they had a withdrawal limits, etc

Part of the stickler with Bitfinex has been the lack of a reliable fiat off ramp , which I think is getting resolved now.

There has up til now only been tether as an option.... which was part of the problem.. but as of today they announced the following

"Announcements > Bitfinex and Ethfinex list every major stablecoin in commitment to providing coin agnostic platforms December 04, 2018
From today customers of Bitfinex and Ethfinex will be able to trade all six major stablecoins on both exchanges.

At Bitfinex and Ethfinex we are dedicated to providing a high quality, unbiased meeting place for every ecosystem and customer. We were the first to introduce alternative stablecoins onto our platform, including Dai (an Ethereum collateralised stablecoin), and now proudly introduce the following established stablecoins: USDC, True USD, Paxos, and Gemini USD. All stablecoins on Bitfinex and Ethfinex will be traded against USD.

For more information, please refer to today’s announcement."

This development may in fact kill any potential premium and the arbitrage opportunity along with it.....if not then using the stablecoins could be an option going forward

Also you need to be fully verified to withdraw fiat or stablecoins (at least tehter)

That being said if there is a efficient mechanism for the arbitrage going forward from here - the gap should in theory get narrowed quickly...

Looks like we're going to hit $4,100

Yep then drop
I'm hoping for a slightly higher range, like 4.2-4.3 possibly 4.5k even.
But you know her - gotta be a joker, she just do what she please.

Yep I don't get this either ... all these bank-backed-crypto-coins (i will name them BBCC's)

The USD used to be backed by gold...
The GBP used to be backed by silver...

...so now we are going to back crypto by something that can be printed by banks which itself is backed by nothing...

Wasn't crypto a method to get rid of banks and printing money?!?  Roll Eyes

Cause you sound like one sometimes maybe? Disillusioned with state power and social democracies for sure - you're a main player in the WO after all - but still on the "social" more than the "anarcho-libertarian" side.

Disclaimer: I never called you that. Just thinking aloud.

Hmmm, that's interesting. If we are talking seriously I really don't know. Let's see, I have always voted for what is considered the "right" wing. But I do also believe in some "social" things such as universal healthcare, maybe because I am used to that in my country. At the same time I consider both far leftist and far rightwingers are irrational.

But.... from an economical point of view the only thing that makes sense to me are the "right" wing ideas. No, I surely am not an anarcho-libertarian even though I find some of their ideas interesting.... but probably impracticable.

I am not completely against taxes, but I am completely against irresponsible spending of those taxes. We could do with way lower taxes if the money were more efficiently spent. And probably get the same or better services in return.

Also I understand that what is considered left/right depends a lot on which country we are talking about. It's complex.

A bright and early good morning Bitcoinland.

After a slight dip we're back up scrapping over $4k... currently $4067USD/$5352CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Sideways is fine by me...  bought some last week, don't have to sell any until late April, fairly reasonable chunk of cash not expected until end of January.

After further consideration, throwing the $100K party in Las Vegas would be much easier to plan.

You'll have to count me out then.

Having been convicted of possessing a plant that is now legal in my own country, I'm now eternally persona non grata in the land of the incarcerated and the home of the militarily emboldened.

Any Caribbean nation would be ideal while anywhere in Europe would be fun. Unfortunately the USA is out.

Too bad. I'd love to see what Wall Observers look like IRL, even in masquerade.

The scheduled boxing exhibition sounds like fun too. Your focus on the mouth is misguided though. A wired-shut jaw won't shut him up. The typing fingers are the problem. (Sorry JJG, I shoulda waited until Thursday.)
_____

Thanks for the lovely refreshing Guinness Extra Stout. I'll have to wait until happy hour to drink it. Having a gig tonight, happy hour starts an hour before showtime.

Will PM you the QR code for one of my catch-all dump wallets. You're a true gentleman.

People argue for them because they help provide liquidity to the markets, but I don't care for any of those so-called markets.
Tether was a scam to help get Bitfinex out of its pickle, and once they'd turned themselves around, turned in to just another dreary altcoin/attack on bitcoin. As are all the newer ones, whether intentionally scammy or stupid scammy.

A group of people, sitting around, staring at charts and occasionally grunting or sneezing :S Sounds fun.

....and farting ... (well in my case with all that beer,I’m sure I’d drop a couple of  cheeker sneakers anyway....)

Remind me to take a different plane than the one you will be on.

Fair enough, but I swear ,this wasn’t me ...lol

There's really only one option secure enough and extravagant enough - Salyut 3, the only space station to have ever been fitted with an operational weapon.

Definitely no farting though.
