Russian PM Warns Against Discounting Bitcoin

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/russian-prime-minister-don-t-160107238.html

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has addressed the cryptocurrency bear market in a speech at the Gaidar international scientific forum, according to local media outlet TASS.
....
Speaking on the extreme volatility seen in 2018, the prime minister and former president said:

But this, of course, is not a reason to bury them [cryptocurrencies]. Here […] there are both light sides and dark sides, as in any social phenomenon, in any economic institute. And we should just watch closely what happens to them."

So there's a scientific forum called the Gaidar ?
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Erm...
Cryptopia actually got hacked. I'm pretty sure it should have a worse rating than 'B'.
I mean, I'm all for having a shot in the dark based on criteria on paper and everything, but at some point that comes up against the cold, hard reality of someone nicking all your cash.

ugh would be no good as a policeperson. have a very visceral reaction to scammers like that Beam fella. skin crawls, mouth dries. makes bringing them to justice a right chore.
much better be a soldier and just engage the target and eliminate.

Cylinder Maximalist

Don't worry, I have a plan for our little friend.  No whitepaper yet but I think those are overkill and cause a lot of unnecessary infighting.

edit: VeeCash! VeeCash! VeeCash!

uhhhhhhh

that's a straight 8

The dev team told me it was two V8s stuck together!  Damn... they got 10% of the pre-mine too.

Here is a graph of the popularity of crypto exchanges for 2018, judging by the schedule, an bitstamp is losing ground...

wtf? dunno how you've infiltrated my dev team, they're all nda-ed up the wazoo, but glad to see they downplayed it a bit. 70% is quite enough for the common people, less the ongoing founder's fees and so forth, and golden toilets for devs of beautiful new coins are mandatory nowadays you know

At least half of those exchanges fake their volume.   I’m pretty sure Bitmex volume is exaggerated as well.

The list is a complete joke. Clearly the criteria was designed to favor Kraken that got an A score. Bitstamp got a C+ score and is place no. 105  Huh

I'm comparing these two because they are the ones I use most.

Kraken has DoS protection? Really!? They are unable to handle even legitimate traffic during a rally. A DoS kills them instantly.

Kraken gets 4/4 for user account security? 2FA is optional. No pasword expiration policy. Oh, please...
