The intro to the article... "It's also estimated to be worth around $700 quintillion—enough to give each of the 7.6 billion people on Earth about $92 billion each. You read that correctly—$92 billion each. " Sure. That's what would happen if we mined the whole thing. It wouldn't just drop the gold etc. prices to near zero. Everybody would have at least $92 Billion. Gold shorts inc?

Many sci-fi movies depict future as being heavy-metal and/or heavily into gold. Examples: "Chronicles of Riddick" (Necromonger civi), "Stargate", many others. Asteroid mining would explain the rationale. On the other hand, plastics would be more difficult to come by in the future since they are made from oil or natural gas, which is definitely in less supply than asteroid iron/nickel/gold at the near earth orbits.

Speaking of NEOs..apparently a small meteor struck Cuba earlier. No reported injuries so far and the authorities said to be sending a team to investigate. https://twitter.com/NWSKeyWest?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

I don't want to sound whiny or anything, but.. homer, wouldn't it be easy for you to remove the white background? Looks better without it. Well, normally I save my files as jpg because... I'm old. There is no transparency for jpg and GIF doesn't have the level of colours I need so it would mean learning something new. I'm not averse to learning but I think I'm getting to the point where learning something new comes at the expense of forgetting something (I've run out of the human cognitive equivalent of a computer's RAM) so it's really fear that keeps me from removing the white. I'll try to grow a pair and learn how to adapt and remove the white.... but it might take some time Oh I see you are making all of them transparent now, sorry I made mine myself, did I ruin the original? Yeah, I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. It does look much tidier now; thanks for the push. Yours looks perfect.

It wouldn't be such a bad thing with dirt cheap gold if you think about it, things that now have to be replaced periodically because they oxidize/corrode can last forever if they are made of gold. On the other hand, there is no money in mining dirt cheap gold, so they would just mine themselves out of business.

Testing the waters. Lets see who has stronghands 1h 4h *edit* some typos in that first sentence..guess that bottle of wine is working. You get the point I think anyway. Regardless of these local highs and lows I think the time to be afraid is past. We are at or near the bottom, everyone knows it. Now and over the next several months is the time to acquire as much coin as you can in a manner that fits your risk profile. #dyor

Bitcoin Is Now Officially In Its Longest Bear Market EverBitcoin has officially entered the longest stretch of declining prices in its 10-year history. The world’s oldest and most valuable cryptocurrency achieved an all-time high of $19,764 on Dec. 17, 2017 on the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index and has printed a series of lower price highs ever since, making February 2 (as per UTC time), the 411th consecutive day prices have been in decline. As such, bitcoin’s latest stretch surpasses the duration of the infamous 2013-2015 bitcoin bear market, which spanned 410 days from its price high to low. Plus we can implement the Anunnaki plan and introduce a layer of nanoparticulate gold in our upper atmosphere in lieu of ozone.

Man oh man oh man. I have been running a few lightning nodes for a long time (I actually had one of the first 200 on main net)... but to be honest I have not done a ton of lightning transactions. I mean I bought the requisite reckless stickers from blockstream last year and did a lot of silly shit on satoshis.place, but I quit moving bitcoin around just for fun years ago. So tonight I have just been horsing around... and I feel like it's 2011. I have 2 lightning wallets on my phone, and am running Zap on a PC and lnd on a little server... I have been sending about 3 millions sats around from my phone to my phone to my desktop to my little server to my phone etc. IT IS INSTANT!!! Usually the receiving wallet says it has the payment before the sending wallet knows it's gone! And as soon as I get it I can spend it, and it costs basically NOTHING. The people who are clamoring about how this will become centralized are wrong. It will be distributed, and there will be some big hubs for liquidity... and those hubs will compete for fees and there will not be much incentive to charge a lot. It just hadn't sunk in 'till tonight. This is going to change the world, gentlemen. It's a kludgy mess right now, but as they add features to this it is going to become a monster. AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE BITCOIN. On chain is on chain forever. Lightning doesn't change that. What it changes is the future. If you have not tried it. you need to fucking try it. You need to set up two nodes and send sats back and forth. This is gentlemen.
