Having worked in media production for most of my life and been involved in music video production... just the amount of work that went into making the video would be a LOT of energy for anyone.  Very impressive.

You can see they did at least 3-4 distinct takes of the song to comp the video.  Probably many many more.

Telling in the article how great banks and governments are and why bitcoin is not that great. Because he lost his password to 7002 bitcoins. Sounds like a another fake story from fakestream media to me.

lets say he lost his password for 7002 coins.

I would think that he could toss 1,000,000 usd at it to crack the password.


7002 x 33000 =  231 million plus

It's an IronKey. Those USB drives that have a code or physical button to unlock it. It's probably AES encrypted and the key gets nuked after 10 failed attempts. He'd need a hardware hacker to look at it, or talk to IronKey (or Kingston, they are now owned by Kingston) and offer them $1m to successfully unlock it (and maybe $1000 to try really hard.)

This is why I don't really like hardware solutions when you can use software. You can upload some files to worldwide torrents and they'll be backed up 1000 times, no one can open them unless they have the password. example: wikileaks insurance files.

I might get an IronKey because it looks cool: aluminum enclosure, epoxy-filled casing. But otherwise, I'd just as well get multiple USB drives from different manufacturers to store back ups of important stuff.

Current versions only go up to 128GB. Maybe Stephan had one of the older versions or something. In any case, you can't really open it up. You'd need some pros to do it and they might destroy the drive in the process.

I really like and encourage critical thinking. But starting your "critical thinking" process by simply denying a election result is not my understanding of "critical thinking" it's more like a state of denial. There are people who simply claim there is no pandemic because there are no viruses in the first place. Thats not "critical thinking" that's just a straightforward lie. And this stuff somehow has to be controlled in the future. Otherwise the whole internet idea collapses in itself, because the people are not able to cope with the "information" aka "lies" they read.

As free people, we all have the right to think whatever we want and believe whatever we choose to, including denial. There is nothing illegal about choosing to believe something that is seen as false by 99% of the rest. When something truly sinister happens in the world, you'll be thankful for these overly suspicious conspiracy theory believers/non-believers.

Nothing has to be "controlled". We succeeded in surviving as a species for millions of years just fine without any control. In fact, religious control set us back a couple thousand years. That should be enough of a lesson right there to stop the idea of controlling anything beyond setting clear laws and enforcing them. Just punish those who break the law and ignore the voices you don't agree with.

If enough people really get behind an idea or a person, there is probably some truth behind what they believe. Nothing in life is black or white. Everything is a shade of gray. What you have to ask is "why" so many people like Trump. Do you really believe they are all mentally ill? Critical thinking would be trying to understand what people see in Trump, not saying we must control something so people don't end up liking a guy like Trump.

I believe history shows that we're community species packed in groups (safety in numbers), as such there was always a controlling dominating figure, alpha leaders, kings, monarchs, tsars, religious leaders, gov etc, etc, etc. Think we can all agree that, for better or worse, majority tends to go with the flow, which is easily exploitable by knowledgeable individual. Historical template seems to be, play on people's insecurities, allocate blame on "others", and provide hope which can be only attained by unquestionably following the leader. Just because a cult manages to gather a huge following doesn't mean that there's much behind it other than individuals wanting to belong or be part of something greater than them.

If anything, right now we're experiencing liberation of opinions. Before there was that one crazy person at every bar, now all those crazy people in millions of bars have platform where they can come together, organize, grow and now don't feel marginalized/isolated. Despite education and space travel, flat earthers seem to be growing. I'm sure there's a forum for society of cannibals somewhere on the interwebs.

The problem becomes on deciding on what is crazy, as once you're "pigeon holed" in picking a side, the pack forces you to label the other camp as completely crazy and your camp as a ray of clarity and hope. And that's my biggest concern with any absolutes, including freedom of speech. Sure we can provide uncensorable platform on blockchain, but what do we do if a new charismatic leader, Hilter 2.0, or ISIS start dominating and spreading like wildfire, their primary directive is not to listen to "Intelligentsia" ignore educators and burn any literature not approved by the benevolent leader? Think there's enough rational people to not let them reach a critical mass?

don't you distinguish between communism and socialism? i live in a social democratic country and can't understand this bashing of socialism. i'm glad that the state has various social safety nets and i'm willing to pay for them.

social democratic is not socialims. GDR (german democratic republic - eastern germany bevor 1990) was socialism. Cuba was socialism. The whole easten countries before 1990 were mostly socialism. Now you can ask yourself. What is maybe bad on socialims and why had the GDR shoot people to death on their borders, who only wants to leave the county (to west germany).
Socialism doen't work without force and suppression. In the end you have to shoot people who wants to leave your socialist paradise, because in the end your country will be empty. Damit, it's only 30 years ago, halve of europe were socialist paradises. History show us socialims is bad. All the time. And no, if you say, that's not real socialism and you would made it beter than all the others, than you are someone with a megalomanic complex. socialism doesn't work. and a social democracy like here in germany is basically capitaism with a social net for people who has no work. And this system cost hugh amount of money. And it will collapse, if we continue this here. But this is another story.

As long the (DDR) GDR existed, it was a No-Go in the western culture to regularly spy on their citizens. It was a GDR-thing and the soviet were heavily criticized for it.
When the berlin wall was falling, western countries started mass surveillance, because the "black sheep" has died, and the GDR, the #1 bad example, ceased to exist.
Back then, the eastern german "Stasi" (state police) were the "bad guys". Now we are. A genius move, when you think about that.

1400BTC wall at Coinbase and 600BTC wall at Bitstamp noticed. Both are placed from 36600 to 36900 probably by one person. What is this - a n00b whale who thinks the bull run has ended?!? Or a n00b shorter who thinks this will stop the recovery and possible new ATH in a few days? In both cases, still a n00b.

I remember they had models with explosives in them to blow the chip apart, but that was for govt goodies. Still, the problem isn't bitcoin it's this guy storing it on an ironkey. Could have been a word document with his mothers' priceless recipes. So they article is crap, should he be able to get his bitcoin by whining a lot?

If true, this Stefan Thomas guy has got to be the most stupid person on the planet. And his stupidity grows along with Bitcoin price... Sucks to be him.

Regarding IronKey, we use similar devices in my department, although they don't have any logos on them, and have h/w numeric keypads, like in the pic below. I checked IronKey, and it seems you need to run some s/w to enter the password, which is a disadvantage IMHO. I would prefer a device with a h/w keypad built-in, like this:



In other news, number seems to be going up. We need to break $40k ASAP. Now that I'm (probably) COVID-free, I need to see some action. Come on, Bitcoin, do something!
