Before you read it elsewhere.
Fasten your seatbelts guys.

On January 18 Grayscale added 16,244 BTC to their Bitcoin fund!

More than 600,000,000 inflows on a single day.
Highest BTC inflow ever.
Highest USD inflow ever.
More info here, on my GBTC Observer thread.

They are playing a certain game: https://medium.com/coinmonks/grayscale-trust-and-the-effect-on-crypto-prices-3bbd49d6fcb7

This is bullish, thanks for this find!

No, but you have to take it off to be able to undress.
This watch is BIG, like a Faberge Egg for wrists.

I'm not 100% in favor for this watch but still I do love traditional watches more over sports watches or apple watches or whatever ...

The thing is, traditional watches are functional jewelry. Every digital watch comes off like a modern toy in comparison.
Never saw a digi watch that did fit to an elegant suit, they always look cheap somehow.
But this thing is a monster, purely for attraction (and obscurity?)

bitcoins have been taken over by the sheeple but thanks for all the fish.

You're very welcome Moby. Confirmed?
Boy have I got, [WO] conspiracy theories to tell you - the latest of which - being the Remora Theory.

Quote
In ancient times, the remora was believed to stop a ship from sailing. In Latin, remora means "delay", while the genus name Echeneis comes from Greek εχειν, echein ("to hold") and ναυς, naus ("a ship"). In a notable account by Pliny the Elder, the remora is blamed for the defeat of Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium and, indirectly, for the death of Caligula.

Don’t worry just when it starts to get boring something always turns up.

Every day is a surprise. this is Bitcoin Cheesy

Well tbh, after following crypto (sorry for using that term Jay... don't bat-slap me) for past 7 years, nothing in the Bitcoin theater surprises me any more....

 Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

the use of the term "crypto" is one of the reasons why "crypto" is such a scammy shitshow. "crypto" is an invalid categorization which implies shitcoins belong in the same category as bitcoin. to noobs this false framing leads to a completely fucked up and weird understanding of the entire phenomenon. noobs tend to think about different types of "crypto" as if they were different sports teams that compete in a league or as different stocks of various companies that compete for performance. this is utter and complete bullshit.

bitcoin is a protocol for exchanging value like the internet is a protocol for exchanging information. referring to the examples above bitcoin is not a single soccer team that happens to be leading momentarily. while shitcoins may be viewed as soccer teams of various kinds, bitcoin is the entire league, even better, bitcoin is soccer in general. the whole game in its entirety, with the complete history, all teams in all leagues worldwide. why would you try to pick a single team that may or may not become a winner when you could have a share of all soccer in general? shitcoins could be viewed as stocks of various different companies. bitcoin would not represent a single stock. bitcoin is the entire stock market. why trying to pick a single stock that may or may not perform well in the future when you could buy a share of all stock markets globally?

only bitcoin is a fair protocol that is not owned by any individual, company, state or other entity. it is owned by its users. ALL OTHER projects in the crypto space are owned by their inventors (mostly companies whose sole reason to exist is to make profit.) no other project is truly decentralized - only bitcoin is. bitcoin and shitcoins aren´t even remotly comparable. putting them in the same category labeled "crypto" is misleading and hides the fact that all those projects are scams.

have a look at this article in one of the most reputable (conservative) german newspapers - the F.A.Z. (it is in german and behind a paywall, meh)

https://www.faz.net/aktuell/finanzen/alternative-digitalwaehrung-ether-besser-als-bitcoin-17149396.html

for the last decade the FAZ was had a critical stance vs bitcoin. now, after 10 years of bitcoin bashing they come up with an article claiming that ETH "is better than bitcoin."  no word about it being centralized. no word about there is no cap. no word about the fact that it is not possible to run a validating node in the ETH network. no word about the fact that its design is fucked up from scratch trying to become a "world computer" on chain. no word about the fact that it has no valid monetary policy. the FAZ has never understood bitcoin, bashing it for years and then went one to welcome this pre-mined scam without the slightest critique. they fell victim to their own moronic stupidity. it all started with the false categorizing "crypto"

either "cryptocurrency" is a valid category and only bitcoin is in it or crypto means outright scam and bitcoin does not belong in it.

While I like the jewelry watches, I ended up getting a Casio G-Shock 5610.

This thing is going to last me a couple of decades, maybe replace the bands once or twice, and will almost always tell the correct time within 1 second. I got it because it was both Solar Powered and Atomic (by radio.)

And in case I'm in some location that's too far away from any of the 6 radio time signals, I found an app where I can hack my own time transmitter using headphones or speaker wires (tried it and it worked) so, as long as I have internet, can sync the time. Plus, can do it manually if 30 seconds per month bothers me.

the use of the term "crypto" is one of the reasons why "crypto" is such a scammy shitshow.

Crypto for cryptography.
What you're saying sounds like, "V" for "vendetta" is now "V" for "vaccine". Tongue

"crypto" is an invalid categorization which implies shitcoins belong in the same category as bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency is the word you're looking for. BTC unfortunately falls in this category - once upon a time it was alone in this category.

to noobs this false framing leads to a completely fucked up and weird understanding of the entire phenomenon. noobs tend to think about different types of "crypto" as if they were different sports teams that compete in a league or as different stocks of various companies that compete for performance. this is utter and complete bullshit.

That's why one must focus on the cryptography part.
It's also self-explanatory on why other cryptocurrencies are not really needed ever since we've had BTC.
Never forget the decentralized nature of BTC, compared to (most) alternative centralized cryptocurrencies.

either "cryptocurrency" is a valid category and only bitcoin is in it or crypto means outright scam and bitcoin does not belong in it.

But it does belong, and so do the scammy others. Totally distinct from BTC though.
The way I like to think of it, is that the sole existence of alts, is to get your BTC.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still consolidating sideways in the $3xxxx range, painting a fine pennant... currently $37108USD/$47250CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Finally got my cash yesterday and bought about a fifth of a coin. Managed to get it near yesterday's bottom at around $35.5k including fee.

I still hate banks though.

Amen.

It's also like men versus animals. Yes, technically we're animals, not vegetables nor minerals.

Still, there must be some distinction between mankind and wild animals. Don't call me an animal.

Can you make calls, play games, or check Bitcoin prices with it?
I'm not 100% in favor for this watch but still I do love traditional watches more over sports watches or apple watches or whatever ...

I wasn't referring to sports or Crapple watches. I was referring to the need for watches at all. Cellphones are pretty much de rigeur in today's world and every cellphone tells you the time, updated regularly.

The only use I see for wristwatches is for decoration and I don't wear jewelry or tattoos.

Agreed. Pocket watches are always the best, but if you need an amazing wristwatch I would recommend a Hamilton 505 Ventura or even the Pacer. Futuristic in 1961, futuristic in 2021 (holy crap, it's been 60 years)

Stephen, this is really bad, how can I help change this?

* Don't buy bitcoins.
* Tell friends not to buy bitcoins.
* Consider ethics of holding dirty companies ($MSTR, $SI, $SQ, $PYPL, Coinbase) in your portfolio.

As a final aside, this is very politically solvable. In the next administration Biden could stop the Bitcoin Waste Problem with the stroke of a pen.

Banning US persons from trading these digital investment contracts is well within the powers of executive branch.

he is a shining example of why and how  free speech can be used to do evil.

The reality is Mining BTC with solar is viable and solar can be greatly expanded  due to the profits you get from mining BTC.

It is sad when a person spout lies under the guise of free speech.

Incentives for large solar arrays can be done and most mining can be handled that way.

Instead of banning BTC like the fool says he should be saying incentives must be done to make more solar arrays.

You said it.

I told my SO the other day, "Ethereum didn't make any sense to me at $0.50/eth and was a scam then, so it is still a scam to me today. Its price or popularity changes nothing."

Same can be said of all the other shitcoins.

I believe the "crypto" market was created on purpose, solely to distract and drive people away from Bitcoin. If a sound asset doesn't have any real "competitors", they (whale traders) have to make them up.
