BTER was a known altcoin exchange.

It also traded BTC/CNY, but its volume was very small (~200 BTC/day, or 1/1000 of Huobi and OKCoin...)

It's interesting that the BTER hackers grabbed the BTC but left the altcoins alone. Hmmn..

http://www.tonewsto.com/2015/02/chinese-bitcoin-exchanges-huobi-and.html

There have been issues with Huobi lately.  They claim a DDoS attack.  I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually surfaces they were in fact hacked.

Also, OKCoin's CTO recently left, or was given the boot.  See below.

Tough times for Chinese exchanges, and probably more bad news to come.

People seriously just need to trust Bitcoin and stop going for these short term strategies, if you are trading coins remove them after you have traded. These exchanges are not trustless.

I think the chinese exchange owners are probably stealing and selling their customers coins due to the upcoming FINAL CHINESE BAN!

The time to start being optimistic in order to manage expectations would be >400$ and even after that I think it will be months before the real rocket train pics start to appear.

Until then, just buy (with money you can burn without being hurt) and hold in cold storage.

Remember, bagholders...

"In the coming months, the USMS is expected to sell 94,336 BTC, worth $17.5m at press time, as it liquidates the remainder of the bitcoins previously held by Ulbricht, who only yesterday admitted to founding Silk Road as an “economic experiment”.

Nobody wants shitcoins, not even those who want them.

They are just a way to get  bitcoins from people who are looking to go back in time to be an early adopter for the next coin (which won't materialize).
