You see, those scammers had to work with gold, because bitcoin had not been invented yet.  Grin

Quote
As I wrote already, I was referring to Gresham's Law (aka Copernicus's Law).  It is stated in terms of face value vs intrinsic value, but the phenomenon applies to bitcoin vs national money: if a currency is  [ perceived as being ] more solid than another, people will hoard one and spend the other.

Did Copernicus and Gresham really think that a currency must have inflation to prevent hoarding? If anything, they seemed to have wanted to prevent debasement, and thus prevent hoarding while maintaining the stability of money. In Gresham's case, the debasement of the shilling under Henry VIII was blamed for the loss of the Crown's silver in Elizabethan England, so he hardly seemed enamoured of the idea.

Not a velocity calculator, it's a rosy nonsense generator, a bitcoin fap machine.
Quick test: Zero out all the variables (other than "number of bitcoins mined), and today's price is $480.
One of the variables it [clumsily attempts] to include is velocity.

Zero out all variables except for number of bitcoins mined and it shows $0.00

There seens to be something in the air. I predict a march to 250 by thecend of the week. We've been going sideways 'ish' for quite a while now. I think it's time to go up again, let's see what the week holds.

Here is a Bitcoin velocity calculator to play with:
http://worldbitcoinnetwork.com/BitcoinPriceModel-Alpha.html

Funny. If you slide "Volatility Fears" up to 30%, which sounds fair, you get $245.

My mistake, guess didn't slide one of the sliders enough.  Is it that website that got you confused about money velocity?
Because sliding the velocity slider all the way to "0%" gives you the largest value (and sliding it to "100%" the lowest)?
Have you asked yourself what "0%" and "100%" money velocity means?  Or why it's a percentage?  Care to share?

RTFM

I provided a link to a video (you don't even have to read) that explains that calculator.

Good afternoon Bitcoinland. Been away for while but see things haven't changed much.

Down maybe $10 since I last looked and most of that seems to have happened yesterday.

Ho hum.

Here is mine:

That does NOT look like a prediction, and instead it looks like a depiction of the past, with some kind of weird 2010 anomaly.
