Back on topic: anyone think 440 will hold?

Probably.

In other news, Russia will make Bitcoin illegal (again) and Japan declared Bitcoin a payment medium.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/japan-officially-recognizes-bitcoin-and-digital-currencies-as-money

Whoa. Seven years in the gulags for using bitcoins in Russia?  And all Bitcoin companies in Japan will now have to comply with AML/KYC?!
Can this day get any worse?

Gavin has not posted anything to reddit in the past 10 days.  Are there any recent posts by him anywhere else?  Any OTHER posts where he confirms Craig's claim?

Gavin has now posted a bit more information on reddit

Apparently he verified the signature on a laptop provided by Craig, using software downloaded by Craig.  And was not allowed to keep the laptop or the signed message.

Who can see what is wrong with that?
hodl the phone!
if he was able to sign a new msg with known satoshi keys dating from block 1 ... i think thats irrefutable proof
but maybe the laptop used to verify was compromised.
if he would make that sig public tho there would be no doubt

NLC do you even trade  Huh

Breaking 430 is key to triggering stop losses/longs bailing out causing a heavy drop to test 400-405.

the first time Craig Wright said he was Satoshi I watched some videos of him talking. it was so obvious that a person such as him could in no way be Satoshi.

chest puffed out

so self-absorbed

to me this current "episode" says more about Gavin Anderson than anything else

thanks to those who can explain in technical terms that which I am clueless about.

you see, thats a perfect example of whats going on at the moment. the community is in full denial at the moment. people kind of glorified satoshi and everyone had his own version of Satoshi in their minds. now that we actually have him eventually "at hand" they refuse to accept reality and desperately try to cling to their dream version of Satoshi.

pretty tragic if you ask me.

why would someone claim to be satoshi fully knowing he won't be able to prove it when the time comes

did he really think we'd take gavin's word " i verified his key " as irrefutable proof?

There's nothing ireffutable yet. And who in the BBC is going to have much of a clue as to what it takes to prove it?

I can't be the only one who wants to see a BBC Bitcoin special hosted by Jeremy Clarkson?

As long as Wright has not proven it in public to all of us he remains a hoax!
And even if he should be Satoshi, what I do not believe, nothing will change!!
Or does anyone here really believes the community will start to praise this guy as our lord and follow him like lemmings?
Maybe that is what Gavin is hoping.Bigger blocks!! Wink

nope i dont think so. lets see how this all develops, but to outright refuse the possibility seems extremely childish to me.

this in fact seems to be one reason of the hostility towards Wright at the moment.

there seems to be some kind of completely irrational fear that everybody could turn into a zombie just because Satoshi shows up. lol!

maybe you already now bitcoin is opensource, so no need to be afraid of a dictator.  Grin

Indeed.  If Craig had a chance to tamper with the software that checks the signature, the validation is worthless.

Gavin says that he was not allowed to take the signed message because Craig did not want Gavn to leak the news before Craig himself did so.

Well, Craig has come public.  But the signed message has not shown up.  Instead, Craig's post has some signatures aken from the blockchain, and lots of words and tech stuff, so that a reader who is not quite following it may think that he has provided the signed message.  But he hasn't.

Why is he doing it? Perhaps not to fool the ATO, but to fool someone else who would give Satoshi money and/or protection.

I managed to get a quick look at it, refreshed the page and got a 503 error. That reddit thread must be getting so many hits it's suffering worse than if it had been DDOSed. I will probably have to wait until next week before I get another chance to read that thread now!.

This is not the twilight of the gods. This is Wright trying to deify himself with the help of a gullible (or deceitful) vicar.
