The Chinese exchanges must be short of bitcoin to back their registered deposits.
should anyone be surprised if this turns out to be true? none of the chinese exchanges have done much or anything to reassure everyone that they have what they purport to have. they've just been a little more subtle than other exchanges who fake hacks. |

Remember - we don't know what's going on here. We don't know if it's real bitcoin that's being traded or not.
If you run an exchange it's a peice of cake to set yourself up a few hundred fake accounts, populate them with either BTC or Fiat "fake balances" and manipulate the price to kingdom come.
We don't know what the real supply/demand situation is. (In particular the "supply" bit).

I don't have a vast amount but I feel nothing. I'm waiting until 2020 or so to see where we're at. I think by then it'll be clear enough whether Bitcoin has a long term future or not. Until then it's all short term adventures. |

Until then it's all short term adventures. Same here. I set aside a small percentage for trading, but the vast majority is in cold storage. I am going down with the ship, if btc goes bust. I might start selling a bit at 5K+ |
