Over 900 imaginary assets (including bitcoin itself) all have a value over 0. Looks perfectly rational to me!

Bitcoin is far more vulnerable to economic warfare than metals are, and anyone who denies it is 100% lying. This is why you need to be a complete fool if you haven't figured out the only way the bitcoin price can go up is if the government specifically sanctions to allow it, because it's ridiculously easy to kill it via shorts from the ESF. The government (aka bankers) are allowing it to go up because they want you to buy this imaginary asset and not gold or silver. You are being herded like dumb cattle out of real wealth and into imaginary wealth that can vaporize at any second.
Feels just like someone in the early 20th century preaching to people not to abandon their horses - horse will always be more useful than these new automobiles.

I want to cash out but the risk of whatever wallet software somehow getting my private keys is holding me back. Right now I know my private keys are safe. I do not want to compromise that...even though the reward for me is a lot.

Things are not looking good if you look at the unchanged inflation calculation. Bitcoin has a 10% built in price rise year over year vs the dollar.

I do not want to compromise that...even though the reward for me is a lot. Simply make a copy of your private keys & seed - from before the fork, move your BTC coins to a new unused wallet an now you have those coins safe- with new private key. Then use the original saved private key to access the BCH via a separate BCH wallet that supports importing private keys - and then move those to a exchange. Be extra paranoid and move the BTC again. Job done

Just staying here seems quite positive to me, forming some history. A base camp for any further ascent seems prudent in any endeavour to scale great heights Aha a great excuse for me to post @degewa's excellent view of Everest from the foothills. Qomolangma (Mother of the Snows aka Everest) is ~5 miles high. 1 in 10 who enter the death zone up there do not return alive. The moon is ~250,000 miles further on up.

When segwit goes active it may not be too long after that atomic swap trading can be used to dump BCH without having to go through the centralised exchanges ...

The Bitcoin Cash blockchain is currently operating at 17% of the original chain's difficulty.
The original chain has grown 713.42MB more than the Bitcoin Cash blockchain.
It is currently 114% more profitable to mine on the original chain. https://cash.coin.dance/blocksand there can be issue for BTC, as miners will redirect minig rigs for profit instead.

Over 900 imaginary assets (including bitcoin itself) all have a value over 0. Looks perfectly rational to me! Wasn't there more than 900 crypto assets listed on coinmarketcap.com two years ago, and I am sure that the number has more than doubled, no? If I go to coinmarketcap.com right now, I see 1037 listed, but that is not all of them, right? Maybe another 500 or more? Frequently confusing to differentiate the good and the not so good, even though a few of them seem gooder than others, hahahhahaha, so it seems imprudent to lump them together to make some profound general point - except that there a lot of fricken crypto projects.

This is largely a BTC thread, so what the fuck do you expect real non-shill participants to say? Of course you gotta figure out a strategy to include BTC in some way, but ultimately the allocation, diversification and accumulation strategy is going to be something that is tailored to yourself - so think the fuck about lots of things, but don't remove your eye too far from the prize and don't try to get involved in too many alts, especially if you don't understand them. Furthermore, the fact that you are asking the question that you asks causes me to believe that you do not sufficiently recognize what differentiates bitcoin from the rest... and that is o.k. too.. as long as you are attempting to learn and attempting to learn for yourself rather than possibly relying too much on the advices of interwebinator folks.
