IQ does not equal moral value.
And how do you define moral value?

It is never a good idea to use terms you do not understand.

Tell you what - you define intelligence (but it has to be something other than who owns the most bitcoins/$/land/oil cos thats a non starter) and maybe I'll have a go at defining moral value  Wink
I don't know. There you go.

Wow, so many high IQ people on this thread that want to prolifically opine on what IQ is or how it does/doesn't have value.

But not one with the insight to have any clue where this Bitcoin market is going, or why.  Tongue
Up. Because. You are welcome.

http://www.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-price-nvidia-advanced-micro-devices-hedge-funds-2017-8

This article writer seems to suggest that Bitcoin mining rigs have chips in them from nVidia and AMD.

Is that true? I thought Chinese mining ASIC rigs had something else.

No it's wrong. I don't think BTC was ever mined using GPUs.

LTC however yes, and ETC/ETH.

The ETH bubble until June cause a shortage of GPUs and helped both AMD and nvidia financially.

I need to inform you that back n the early days that was THE ONLY way to mine BTC ( and CPU also )

HODL your BTC !!! we are going higher from here

I knew about CPU mining of course, I missed the part about GPUs. I came to the game by GPU mining LTC in 2013, at that time BTC was only with dedicated hardware. My GPUs from the end of 2013 (AMD 290) are still worth something and can mine ETH with some profit, while BTC miners of the time are hopelessely outdated.

There is a strong correlation between high IQ and wealth.

I don't see how all humans from all cultures could score the same unless they were all trained to process in the same way too. As IQs are rising generation by generation then it must be a cultural thing rather than a biological thing. You don't evolve more intelligence in one generation.

Yes, the average IQ is rising, it's called the "flynn effect" after the guy who first noticed it.
It seems however that the rise is not due to more intelligent people in the population, nor a general rise in the population as a whole, bur rather that fewer dumb people are born, and thereby rising the average.

Nutrition and a general knowledge of DONT SMOKE DONT DRINK WHEN PREGNANT probably helps, sure. But part of the answer is probably also grade inflation. Schools have to deal out grades to students who don't deserve it or they lose funding and people get fired, and so on. All the usual socialist bullshit.

Hence, jews and banks.

"Jews and banks" is thanks to Christians. Dealing with money being dirty, Christians shouldn't do it. Meanwhile Jews were banned from many jobs, but not this one.

Have IQ test themselves gotten easier?

Anyway, I think you're probably on to something with nutrition. That's a biggie.

I have my planet-sized brain despite being exclusively fed undercooked chicken kiev and microwaved roast dinners throughout my formative years.

These days I take it seriously and I get through three of these a day.

Straight out the can.

IQ shouldn't raise by definition since 100 is always the average. Tests have to be adjusted regularly but that doesn't mean people are outsmarting them, rather what is taught, what is experienced, makes some tests easier. Fidgeting smartphones make people better at some things. Meanwhile grammar levels are skydiving but IQ doesn't measure that.

If the IQ test was for funny comments you'd be right up there gentlemand.

You come out with some corkers

His humour is definitely great Cheesy

About the increasing iq - it is called the flynn effect and i think its cause is mainly better nutrition and higher social standards overall.
(A counter example could be east asia though)

About iq:

It is highly correlated with intelligence.
Iq test usually check visuo-spatial (e.g. math, pattern) and verbal (e.g. language) intelligence.
A proper iq test would not include socio specific knowlegde e.g. you could test an amazonian native or an european (see raven matrices).

Imho ibian got it pretty good with the word potential.
A high iq person has high intellectual potential but that doesnt mean he can/will use it.

The question is what happens if mining becomes more profitable there for a while, and then back, and so forth, and the consequences.

What is cognitive capacity?

Again, google.
"Cognition is "the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses."[1] It encompasses processes such as knowledge, attention, memory and working memory, judgment and evaluation, reasoning and "computation", problem solving and decision making, comprehension and production of language. Human cognition is conscious and unconscious, concrete or abstract, as well as intuitive (like knowledge of a language) and conceptual (like a model of a language). Cognitive processes use existing knowledge and generate new knowledge."
