I love these spam emails I'm getting lately: Hello Trader,
Heard about bitcoin before but you were skeptical about investing in it? Bitcoin is now worth $18k.
Imagine your worth if you had invested in it long ago, you could be a millionaire by now.
But it’s not too late. There is still hope for you with other rising cryptocurrencies like ripple, dash and litecoin.

Regards,
- Altcoin Millionaire
Thanks for reminding me how smart I was to Hodl for all these years!

So I went offline for a couple of days and just returned - wtf happened yesterday? It even made the BBC news that btc had lost one third of its value. Any exciting news or just a shake out of weak hands?

No news at all which makes this one interesting. The way I see it we just dipped back to touch the 50MA on the daily - i.e. nothing to see here.

I am paying the standard fees (about $15) and Bitcoin works beautifully. No problem whatsoever.
There is no clear answer yet to scaling. Increasing block size is not a scaling approach. So decentralisation comes with certain costs. We cannot pretend to be smarter than we are right now, so that’s just the situation we are facing now.
Fine if someone forks Bitcoin for bigger blocks. Not fine if someone want to pretend to be the ‘real’ Bitcoin and starts mempool attacks and FUD or liar/deceptive psychology campaigns.
But if Bitcoin cannot survive all this, it was never meant to be.

I'm a big fucking boy and I'll put myself to bed when I'm god damn well ready... <snip of Archer picture>
let me guess, it's friday night end of week before christmas hols and you hit the bottle early ... dropped some pills and bubble the bong, your missus has hit the hay without you and your holed up in the man-cave nursing a serious buzz on your own and it's getting late for your age ... so you hop on-line and look around for cats to kick to let off some steam?? Wrong. I paid $165 to send $181 and I'm here to kick cats to blow off steam off over that. https://blockchain.info/tx/30f824f4233ef331c12864bf3237c9a785b0e55a4c26bf3638aa9fbc8b067ebfBitcoin Core wallet gives the same estimate for 2 block fees as 7 day fees I'd imagine this is due to the miner's manipulative spam for profit. The "faucet" industry is taking a POUNDING right now... FreeBitco.in is having payment troubles because of all of this and Coinpot.co is as well... I'd imagine there is going to be a flood of pissed off little gay faucet users shortly. You should probably just fuck right off.

But... what I cannot understand is.... Ripple recovered even better than ethereum. How could he lose anything on the trade?

It's a kinda strange sense of certainty I get the more BTC is attacked. The high transaction fees and long confirmations is an increased incentive to hodl. While those new to crypto of the last 30 days are freaking out at BTC's correction and trying to trade alts, I've never felt more bullish in my hodlings. In fact, its exactly what I did before I joined the buy and hodl only team. I'm thinking there's a good possibility of some big news around the corner in response to the past several days. I can confirm that lots of eager "new" investors got spooked recently. Next gen hodlers?

The old bladder alarm did it again. No ATH nor buyable dip this time, just reaching $15k again so quickly after yesterday's correction/beartrap. I hope everybody stocked up at the bargain basement prices. Might I ask, "who sold at the bottom?" That would be me: I sold $500 USD worth of Bitcoin at 12,000 or so yesterday at 10am and paid $50 in fees to do it. It took till late afternoon to get one confirmation, and I picked up the money last night. By comparison I also sold $500 USD in Litecoin at 220 or so, paid a few bucks in fees, and got the money within 5 minutes. Not because I needed any money, not because it was a good time to sell. Mainly because I always seem to sell at the bottom, the market needed some turning around, and I was tired of everyone going WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE in the MSM. So I took one for the team (and damn it seemed to work) Now back to fixing stuff, got a fair bit of research to do.

Yeah well, this time I did something stupid. I had an old stop loss order sitting at 10300€. Long forgotten. And then when the drop started, it came in sight and when I tried to cancel it, Kraken went in 502 and all the other cloudflare tricks, by the time I had access to cancel it, the order was closed... . Now sitting with 20% of my stash converted to worthles €toiletpaper... . Pff
