Dear fellows,

I as "erre" was here from 2013. I was a regular lurker of this thread and a relatively rare poster here, but I think someone could remember me for the bet with proudhon or for some other shitposting. I have some emotional bond with this forum, despite the very low overall quality.

In May 2018 my account was hacked. I have full proof of ownership according to the rules and more, but after an initial response from Cyrus I was not able to make any more contact with him or Theymos.

I made a thread in meta (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3652698.new#new) which was locked a little time ago, so I made another thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5065918.0), but I'm really getting demotivated now and I rarely post because I feel uncomfortable without my "skin" and my story.

I know that there are a lot of influent/known members writing and lurking here, so since the price is going sideways and there are no walls to observe I really hope that someone could spend some of his time helping me, I need to drag some admin's attention.

Thank you

Hello everybody
Sorry for not visiting lately, hope you all have been good. I had some log in problems, but I finaly got around to fixing it.
So, what's new? What's the deal with the hats?
And as I'm not working anymore I'm bored and have time on my hands and would love to read some good classic scifi.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Preferably something in the style of Asimov, you know, foundation like.
Are there any authors out there that has made any good Foundation or robot sequels?
And also, my earlier prediction of 80 000 USD at years end is hereby revoked.

85% right might be more on the left than you, but it's still on the right. Then again, I guess everything's relative.
Just wanted to address this point, I'm actually a dead center centrist according to the political compass. Which is still far to the right of pretty well anything in mainstream society, be it culture or finance or anything else. It's frankly a little scary if you think about it too much.

Quote
It's the same with global warming. co2 is not a pollutant first of all, but more than that it is necessary for all life on the planet. C6H12O6. Plants turn co2 into oxygen and act as food for animals. More co2, more oxygen and food, more animals, more life. And I have never seen this mentioned in the media or anywhere else.
Of course CO2 is no pollutant - it's not even toxic - but its problem is the greenhouse effect. Leave science to the scientists. Unless you think communist media are suppressing the truth about CO2 being useful to plant life. It's their little communist secret, you know.

On a related note, if I were you I'd be wary of drinking tap water.  It's a vehicle for them to corrupt your vital fluids.
It's not even being talked about except on fringe radical boards like this one. That's the point, it's an obvious item that should be part of the discussion, but it's not.

And the water is fine here in Denmark, we got some of the best in the world. Wouldn't want to be american, on that front, especially if the idea to add lithium (and who knows what else that is not even being talked about) to the water goes through.

Yes, I remember you. I also remember when your account was hacked and I helped you locate your old messages with posted signature. I thought you would have recovered it long ago, since everything looked ok (signature verified ok).

Now I am rereading the "recovery" thread and am surprised by this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3652698.msg44512640#msg44512640

If someone of the "weight" of hilariousetc can't make it get done I don't know who could (besides Theymos and Cyrus themselves). He seems to be speaking quite frankly when he says no accounts are being recovered lately even when meeting all requirements. Which is bummer to say the least.

Maybe someone else can shed some more light over what could be done here or someone that has had success in recovering his account recently?

You'll get your account back, don't worry. As long as you've this, nobody can steal your account.

are you going to really, discriminate the difference between actively trading on a daily basis, vs adjusting his position as the fucking asset tanks? man you're showing your inner lambchop today.
Not my problem you don't know what trading is: I'm not the one discriminating between timeframes.

BTW, as I understand it, the context of this audio recording is that he slipped up before that on some Teamspeak channel, and the shitstorm came over him via a couple Reddit threads. So, lots of backpedaling is to be expected.

Are you telling me that such things should not be investigated, and that exchanges shouldn't publish a ruleset how they deal with such conflicts of interest? Hell, even the Micky Mouse Magic the Gathering exchange always claimed that they forbid their employees from trading there.

I am about not trying to incite witch hunts on small bits of info in an informal teamspeak chat, but I don't doubt we need more oversight into these situations.

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/2t3iz5/bitfinex_cso_phillip_g_potter_admits_to_trading/cnw41fk?context=3

Hey Guys,

This is Josh Rossi, VP of Business Development at Bitfinex, some of my initial comments were referenced below. The word "trade" has multiple meanings, and is thrown around a lot, and I just want to clarify a few points that have come up.

The bio information that was linked to is based on an old bio that was incorrectly written on the tether.to beta site. Phil was managing a fund that was invested in cryptocurrencies, but ceased day to day trading activities upon starting his role at Bitfinex, which roughly coincided with the fall of Mt Gox.

The entire management team monitors our personal accounts, in order to prevent abuse, and we all act as checks and balances on each other. The idea that someone who works in Bitcoin shouldn't be able to own or adjust his position in bitcoin is silly. Bitcoin is not a publicly traded company, it is an asset. Any orders Phil may have placed would have been limit orders, and subject to the rest of the management teams monitoring. To be very clear, Phil has not been actively trading since joining the team at Bitfinex. That being said, and given the volatility of bitcoin, it is necessary to adjust one's exposure. We spend a lot of time trying to build the best exchange, and we definitely do hold and are bullish on bitcoin. There is a difference between a "trade" in the sense of being a day trader or actively trading positions, and executing a limit order, which is basically a passive buy or a sell of the asset in question.

We have become the number one USD exchange, specifically, because we have made it our top priority to provide a fair and even playing field. We engage with our clients and the community and try to be as transparent as possible. We hold ourselves, and each other to the highest ethical standards.

Basically, we are very excited about the future of cryptocurrencies, and are honored that we can be a part of the core infrastructure. We are in it for the long haul, Bitfinex has been around for quite a while. We have consistently proven that we will not sell out our future for a quick buck now.

If enough people share your displeasure they best change their policy, otherwise as always in the bitcoin world user beware.

My state just legalized marijuana, so I have that to keep me entertained for the next three years, I guess.

I reckon you need to be living in Michigan tho.

Not sure it's worth the tradeoff.  Undecided

Nope    Cry
When I hit my BTC valuation target, I'm getting the hell out of here.

Huh?  What is the approximate BTC price for such flight?  $50k?  $100k?  $1million?

My plan was to sell half at 100K and let the rest ride. Do you have a sell target for your long-term stash?

Starting in about early 2014, I was already engaging in quite a bit of working out "on paper" my various cashing out strategies, like some of my posts described in the SSS thread

So for example, I was thinking that there were going to be various BTC price points in which I would take out large quantities of cash, but with the passage of time, including my actually experiencing how my incremental cashing out plan was working, I figured that I did not really need to make really large cash outs, in terms of percentages because largely, incrementalism was going to be very likely to go above and beyond my actual needs.

Don't get me wrong, there might be sporadic times in which I might consider something that I would like to buy or invest in which would cause me to cash out a decent amount of bitcoin in order to accomplish such purchase/investment.  So, in that regard, I would not even mind cashing out some bitcoins at $6k if some need were to arise.  On the other hand, my time horizon remains at least 5-10 years, so it seems to me that incrementalism is going to continue to serve me during that time, whether the BTC price goes to $10k, $30k, $50k, $100k or more.

Also, don't get me wrong, there is going to be a decent amount of temptation to take out some value in the $50k to $100k range, but we are going to need to see whether the price is then feeling "toppy."  A funny thing about when we are in a kind of toppy area, such as nearing $20k, there is a bit inside of us that does not quit appreciate the then "topiness" of the matter.

By the way, from our various posts, I understand that you are quite a bit younger than me, but there does come a real questionable matter about starting some kind of systematic withdrawal of principle when getting to a certain age or perhaps some health conditions could cause that kind of perspective, so I will likely reach that kind of timeline much before you, but I am still thinking that I have 5-10 years before I really need to consider when to engage such part of my plan (which are a bit differing circumstances for guys (and gal) who might be thinking that they have at least 20 years before they need to get into that stage of their financial planning dynamics).

My plan was to sell half at 100K and let the rest ride.

I was waiting for 100 trillion per coin.

From time to time, troll nocoiners can be quite hilarious, so I see why you keep this loser dweeb around, infofront... hahahaha   Wink
