FYI, this is a worthless metric.

Could you elaborate more on this?
I strongly disagree as the security implied in Bitcoin (ledger costliness) is one of the main value proposition for bitcoin imho.

Who would Store Value on an insecure blockchain?

Sorry it took me soo long, I've been under alot of pressure lately and when I have a little time I just didn't feel like doing the search. Wink

These metrics are measuring "work done", not security.

More "work done" doesn't necessarily mean "more security".

For example take the following two blockchains:

    Bitcoin Cash (SHA-256 @ 2 PH/s) or ($5/s)
    Zcash (Equihash @ 4 GH/s) or ($3/s)

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but... I'd love to hear our resident Nazi's take on this article: https://www.coindesk.com/israeli-cryptocurrency-traders-locked-out-of-banking-system-report

It really supports his claim of how the jews are backing bitcorn to steal all your precious gold Cheesy

It's an old news, but I didn't see it mentioned here.

The ‘Vault’ Is Back: Coder Revives Plan to Shield Bitcoin Wallets from Theft

Quote
“Vaults are particularly interesting as a bitcoin cold storage security mechanism because they enable a publicly observable delay period during which time a user could be alerted by a “watchtower” that a thief might be in the process of stealing their coins.”
Quote

“The idea is to have a sequence of pre-generated pre-signed transactions that are generated in a certain way. The basic components are a vaulting transaction that locks coins into a vault, a delayed-spend transaction which is the only way to spend from a vault, and a re-vaulting transaction which can recover/clawback coins from the delayed-spend transaction.”
So, it's something like a multisig, n-block timed transaction if i understnd it right.

Intresting as it it a very effective increased security for HODLERS.

Not quite what you were hoping for, but here's a roundabout way jews are taking bitcoin from nazis:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/neo-nazi-website-founder-owes-14-million-woman-he-urged-n1040671

given that the website in question runs mainly on bitcoin donations (or at least it did at one point).

I hope Bernie Sanders becomes the next U.S. president just to make all the anti-semitics go even more beserk than they already are. Every time a racist idiot realizes they're a failure at life, they just blame the jews. Seems to be a lot of them these days. If you're an American, you have the advantage of blaming either the mexicans or the jews. I wonder who the Israelis blame... probably Palestinians.

For me August is perhaps the most stable month regarding the price. After the bull runs and the following corrections are gone, the price stabilizes as close to the real sustainable price as possible. For that reason, I've made a small table of the prices on 9th August for the last years and a prediction for the following 2 years.

Aug 9 2015 - $260
Aug 9 2016 - $589 (2.26x increase comapared to the previous year)
Aug 9 2017 - $3 400 (5.77x increase comapared to the previous year)
Aug 9 2018 - $6 500 (1.91x increase comapared to the previous year)
Aug 9 2019 - $12 000 (1.84x increase comapared to the previous year)
Aug 9 2020 - estimate $24 000 (2x increase comapared to the previous year)
Aug 9 2021 - estimate between $48 000 and $138 000 (between 2x and 5.77x increase comapared to the previous year)

How comes there's anyone from the forum running that shop?
I would expect a reverse angle form behind the shop counter :"Look who's taking a picture outside my shop!!"

Dude. 16th Amendment, followed by the Revenue Act of 1913?

[...]
Quote
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

I agree with you on income, but that law/amendment does not say anything about capital gains.

meh. i treat capitol gains as a kind of income (as in money i did not have, not income according to the irs definition which seems to be concerned with wages.. but i could be wrong). its just calculated differently from regular income.

yeah it sucks and i disagree with what a lot of the tax pays for. but one entity i have no wish to get on the wrong side of is the irs. they are power like no other. they dont need any lawful reasons like probable cause to simply seize your property and money (right out of the banks and other institutions you keep your wealth in -  they use civil forfeiture and garnish wages) with no legal basis aside from "we feel like it". pretty sure there a lot of other laws they can more or less disregard at will. they have that status apparently because they are so trustworthy and never make mistakes.  /s  <-- added the /s just in case people think i am totally brainwashed into being a sheeple.

but taxes? look i will mess with cops more or less with impunity. i will even mess with the military (very carefully). ive even messed with judges (well very very carefully indeed.. judges have zero sense of humor) but the IRS?? no way. with them its by the book.. well as far as my cpa can figure it out.

it sure would fucking help though if the IRS would finally came out with some actual guidelines and rules instead of this waffling that leaves all us honest folks wondering wtf theyre doing.
