Sorry, I did not like the video/show.
I wonder, why nobody can capture the essence of bitcoin or crypto as a whole?
This vid is sensationalistic and often wonders in a strange direction, like what some bureaucrats in Tatarstan have to do with a main direction?
Obviously, they are just passengers at best.
Plus, too much VB and undeservedly so.

WO gang,

I think PlanB read the WO and thought we were confused, so he clarified:

Quote

#Bitcoin halving .. 4 months to go 🚀

IMO halving is priced in correctly and markets are efficient, in the sense that few people (10%) know, understand and believe S2F model, and most people (90%) don't know S2F, don't understand stats&math behind it, think demand is missing etc

i think Plan b doesn't take into account the effect of futures and Institutional (Gov backed) Fuckery.

Halving is not priced in and eventually all these fractional reserves are going to have to make good. the people will figure it out eventually it just takes them time.

sorry, if you would read between the lines this will come up:

outlook: the more the US (and satellites) try to spread their so called "democratic system" over the whole world and sanction sovereign states in any kind of aspects, especially in financial aspects the more the states will look to find an alternative way to get their financial sovereignty back. one way could be a partly adaption of Bitcoin. for example for financial worldwide transactions.

you guess what? that's good for us!

EDIT: ok, to be fair the difference between the US and e.g. North Korea is the grade of freedom. in the US you can buy the Qur'an and in North Korea you can't. but also in the US you will find very few people which will give you something for free and don't want something back from you of any kind (Luk. 14:12-14).

Combine Fred Wilson's (a VC that is involved in crypto) take on 2020'es and the decade-old analysis of who loses and who wins in climate change and you get what?

https://avc.com/2020/01/what-will-happen-in-the-2020s/
https://grist.org/article/we-broke-down-what-climate-change-will-do-region-by-region/

Winners (by region):

NW and North US
Canada
Russia
Scandinavia

Losers:

US South
Coastal regions everywhere (including CA and FL)
Middle east (temperatures would become unbearable)
India (rain patterns would change)
Bangladesh (flooding)
Indonesia

Fred Wilson is very skeptical about US and Europe participation in crypto, sees much more progress in Asia.
I disagree, i think that Europe will be the most interesting region for bitcoin and crypto, but agree that US would become a backwater (as far as crypto development would concern) as much as I would dislike it.

Maybe buying some inland South Canada real estate above 100ft elevation is a good idea, especially now when CAD is weak.

Here is a comprehensive climate report (for US) if someone wants to look at their region (with interesting region-specific info):

why?

seems to work indefinitely with gold and silver

I fear we may all die of old age waiting for their bullshit shell game to come unraveled.

WHEN MOON?

Difficult to find that 14-minute clip interesting or even relevant when it seems to be largely about Ethereum.

In other words, seems that I just wasted 14-minutes of my life, to the extent that I might not have been attempting to multi-task.

There are 2 major differences:
1. Gold and silver can be forged, bitcoin can't. You can have 995 gold sold as 9999 while bitcoin is a binary asset. It is either 100% bitcoin or 0% bitcoin like bcash.
2. It is hard and expensive to prove who is the actual owner of a gold bar in a vault. It is incredibly easy and cheap to prove who is the owner of a bitcoin address.

I really think this is a very informative video.

I understand your feeling of wasted life.  But there are some things it brings to light that are powerful:

- Humans naturally NEED a leader.  A decentralized system is foreign to our natures.  We have been wired to seek out trusted parties.  Buterin is the story here.  They like that he is a genius. They like that he says magic things.  And they like gawking at his autism.

- This is still "early times"!  Still!  Unless Ethereum fails under it's own weight we are going to have to see wave after wave fall for it's impossible promises (And, yeah I know there are some ETH folks in here.. and maybe all of us have our pet alt (aside from JJG) mine is XMR).  But it is not done yet in my opinion.

- Bitcoin is still too new an idea (to the mainstream) to be sexy yet.

- Millennials are gonna like VB. He is a millennial.  And his ethos is  more in line with the left/socialist hyper postmodern millennial worldview.  For example his hatred of POW which is based on Greta Thunberg type thinking but also reveals an AMAZING lack of understanding the basic laws of the universe and the miracle of "unforgable costliness" that BTC achieves directly because of POW.

You just can't tell a story if you don't understand it.  And Vice does not understand what Bitcoin is.  It's not many people yet who do.  That is why it only costs 7k.  If more understood it would be much costlier.  I am glad Nick Szabo is kind of coming out of the shadows more recently.  He, for some reason *cough*, DOES seem to understand what Bitcoin is.  I'd love to see him talk more about it... I don't know about being in a Vice documentary... but something.

Speaking of which... maybe you can clean out your brain from that piece by consuming this:
