I just find it hard to understand why you're so resistant to experiencing this absolute basic first lesson.
Is it as obvious to everyone as it is to me? He is beginning to question his conclusion Bitcoin is a ponzi. He already softened his stance by admitting he now feels "pyramid" may be more appropriate than "ponzi". A part of him is concerned he could soften further, and using the currency may suck him in. He's in an intellectual battle with himself. He's fighting valiantly. It's natural. We train ourselves "if it's too good to be true it usually is" yet here is Bitcoin which is just about too good to be true and yet it is true. It is revolutionary. It is a ground shaking paradigm shift. It will change the world. Yup for a real ponzi or more, you cannot beat good ol fiat http://www.forbes.com/sites/jordanmaglich/2014/02/12/a-ponzi-pandemic-500-ponzi-schemes-totaling-50-billion-in-madoff-era/

If I was a gambling man, I would bet large sums of money that you have, throughout your life, used electricity created by burning coal to the extent that it was equivalent to a pound burned (most likely much higher).
No need to gamble; Stanford U. has its own coal-fueled power generation plant in the middle of campus. But the only coal I ever put my hands on was a small chunk that I found on the sidewalk next to that plant, once. You went to Stanford? No dummy, JorgeStolfi. I went to a University you've probably never heard of.

I dont know if anyone of you got this, and I dont know if this is legit ( I didnt open the attachment yet)
in the german forum they say it is a scam, do not open attachment. Habs gezogen. I knew it, am I the only one who got this ? how many of you out there who got the same e-mail ? Yeah got the same email few hours ago..

If anybody cares, yet another tv show making bitcoins look bad. In this week's Justified, bitcoin was used to hide money that was stolen by a guy running a gambling website. He faked the closing of his website and ran off with the money. Does this sound familiar?

some of the best thinking yet I can say 90% that this is what happened, he lost the private key, but he thinks that he can recover it, he reached for help, he told the Big guys about the problem, they were shocked and didn't want to help him and went out in 24 hour to tell us that Mtgox is insolvent instead of helping him recover customer funds, it was interesting how they just made a statement in 24 hours without any explanation to just tell everyone forgot your funds... Edit: now if this is true, I really really hope that he will be able to recover the key and refund costumers, we really do not need that bad advertisement especially now...

Agree 100%. Not all information has been released yet. Those other kids certainly didn't have it. What's so scary about all this is the level of unprofessionalism and the amount of 20 year olds involved making decisions and acting as reps.

from one of those links Obviously they're not up on sophisticated modern transaction processing techniques. If only they had read the 1458 edition of Della mercatura e del mercante perfetto by Benedikt Kotruljević.

It would be funny if it would turn out that Mark Karpeles is in fact Satoshi and he did create bitcoin just as a simple scheme. 1) Create crypto 2) Create exhange 3) Start buying your own crypto and wait when someone sees that someone is buying and will also join in. Soon more will join. But the scam just got too big and really out of hand.
