Dude, you were right, you're somewhat biased towards me.
The link to my profile page...
I was trying to suck out a dried fruit, obviously.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

You are the one who somehow managed to imply that the coronavirus outbreak was the fault of Austrians and/or Germans, by a nonsensical direct analogy to completely irrelevant historical events.  I object to that.  Don’t you wax self-righteous toward me, now—especially not when my initial response showed insight into German and Austrian post-WWII cultural issues, instead of simply invoking Godwin’s Law and calling you a troll.

That's it..
I'm calling china and tellin them that it's actually germany/austria's fault..
Also to rename it the hitler virus..

I hear some places are having trouble cremating the amount of dead bodies.. I will also suggest them to contact germany for their expertise on this subject..

They also must pay reparations to china for this.. Actually, every country now owes china reparations just because..
Can be payed in the form of consensual annexation by china..

Why worse? Asymptomatic cases will for sure not need hospital. Main problem that we have is that there is/will not be enough hospital beds/medical stuff/medical equipment for all. If 70% of population is immediately taken out, then we are operating with much smaller numbers. For me this is a very good news.
The problem is asyntomatic is that they don’t know they are spreading the virus around. Hence they are actually infecting people a lot more than syntomatic people that eventually quarantine themselves reducing contagion risks.
This is why lockdowns are important even early on the infection cycle.

They successfully used mass testing to stop the virus in a small Italian town. Quarantining the asymptomatic was what totally stopped it.

https://www.nhregister.com/coronavirus/article/Italian-town-experiment-coronavirus-testing-Vo-15141033.php

Quote
the small Italian town of Vò has not reported any new cases of COVID-19 since last Friday and the spread of the illness has been completely stopped there.

Vò, a town of 3,300 just outside Venice, was part of an experiment that involved aggressive testing and quarantine measures. Every single resident was tested for coronavirus in late February when Northern Italy was first rocked by the outbreak, and three percent of inhabitants were found to be carrying the virus.

Andrea Crisanti, an infections expert at Imperial College London, was involved with the experiment and told news outlets that half of the carriers exhibited no symptoms.

Quote
Anyone who tested positive was placed under quarantine, as were individuals that came into recent contact with the infected. The town's residents were then tested again 10 days later, and just .3 percent of the population was found to be carrying the virus. However, at least six infected individuals were asymptomatic and would not have been tested in most other countries.

This is beautiful; I don’t want to detract by dissecting it, so I will keep my reply short:

Thought I'd mention that I'm using Bitcoin for what it was intended... not as a get-rich-moderately-quickly investment vehicle (although it has actually done quite well as that) nor a retail purchase currency (coffees?) but rather as a fast, reliable, cheap and secure way to send money around the world.

Since we decided it would be more prudent to wait out the Covid-19 emergency and panic by staying in our remote jungle village instead of dealing with high-risk airports and cities, I had to figure out a way to take care of financial obligations at home while not having a bank account.

There is also the fact that they may be closing the only highway into our village to keep tourists from bringing Covid-19 in. We  might be truly isolated, a whole community quarantined. We have no landline or cell phone service but usually have internet access. Postal service is almost non-existent taking months for delivery.

Bitcoin to the rescue. A friend lent me 3 bitcoins. Sent him an address with a QR code and he sent me 2.5btc. The other 0.5 he's going to sell (ouch!) and use to pay my rent and bills and put the rest on my credit card. I prefer for them to owe me money and not the other way around.
Hopefully by next month I'll only have to sell a lot less than half a coin to pay my expenses.

Meanwhile I'm sipping a cold Tecate and thawing out some imported beef while my lovely Mexican cutie is making taquitos out of the leftover chicken. We have lots of TP and there doesn't seem to be any shortage of anything yet. It's as if Covid-19 didn't even exist here.

Life is good. Thank you Bitcoin.

The Real Flippening would be when the actual Bitcoin economy picks up, and takes over substantial real-life functions from the economy based on government-issued toilet paper.

When a stash of Bitcoin helps you to survive a real, dire emergency, it is a happy moment because Bitcoin helped you, and a sad moment because too many ways of “spending” it are either directly or indirectly dumping it for fiat.

When you can spend Bitcoin to another Bitcoiner, who will in turn spend it to yet another Bitcoiner—that is the golden moment of Bitcoin maximalism!

I know that everybody here understands this on such a level that I seem to have stated only the obvious.  But the concept needs a name, and a concise model of thinking.  I propose The Real Flippening:  Bitcoin flippening over fiat bit by bit.  Hardforking the government-controlled economy without consensus official mandate.  The generalized concept of a fork attack need not only work against Bitcoin.

It is another reason for each individual Bitcoiner to push for adoption.

And in good humour, it seems. :-)

Pomp's friend Raul Pal is pushing an idea to escape into USD (https://twitter.com/RaoulGMI), but USD increased too much in the last few days.
It's got to reverse soon, maybe then btc would go back back to 7K and more.

Seems to me that I sufficiently believe in BTC as much as most of the most ardent of BTC supporters, but surely that belief should not result in my employing more gambling and/or risk than I would prefer to employ, if I can avoid it... Therefore, I do not want to put myself into any more stress than i need to.

Yeah, I did not want BTC to go below $5k and I believed that it had pretty damned decent chances of NOT going below $5k.. but it did, anyhow.  Fuck that, but that is this kind of market.. cannot really know anything with any kind of meaningful level of confidence.

So, yeah, I have Buy orders down to $3k currently.. and really I do not want to inject any more fiat into this, but I have some fiat that is already theoretically allocated to BTC... and yeah, I will likely transfer half or so of that fiat to one of my exchanges if the BTC price breaks below $3,850 again... NO, NO, NO... I don't want the god-damned BTC price to be dipping below $3,850 because I do not want to transfer that money.. but fuck, I already have that tentative plan.. which is a hopefully it does not happen, one....

Anyhow, that transferred in money would be to set up buy orders for below $3k.... Yeah. .I do not want it to happen, but BTC does not give any fucks about what I want.

Point is that "all in" is NOT the only strategy, and ONLY ends up being "the best" strategy, if you happen to end up being correct in a kind of gambling outcome.. which currently seems to be around 50/50 at this time... Nonetheless, I do happen to understand that it is NOT going to make a whole hell of a lot of a financial difference if you (or I) buy at $4,700 or $3,500, but it seems to me (projecting into the reasonable what-ifs) I am going to feel way the fuck better psychologically if I have money to buy in the lower $3ks, if the BTC price goes to that outrageous range rather than running out of money.

I have run out of money on several occasions in the past (at least resorted to more rationing than I would want based on NOT wanting to run out of money to buy BTC), and even in recent times, I have been kicking myself a little bit for having to ration my dollars as much as I have had to ration them in order to have more ability to meaningfully buy BTC than merely symbolic buys in the sub-$5k prices (that I had hoped to fuck would not have come, but those sub $5k prices did come, as we concretely and experientially know).
I cant help butt into Slayer's conversations w my boring strategy droning. I will try an work on this bad habit.

Thanks buddy. Wink

Thanks for what?  You seem to have inabilities (could be just lack of desire or even desires to misinform) to grapple with actual facts and logic, unless you are merely selectively choosing or making shit up. For keeping the oceanic ecosphere intact with the salt from my vagina?

Yes, among other things.  Smiley

You are the one who somehow managed to imply...

I see...

I was going to chalk up your twisted way of interpreting my words to your admitted lack of facility with the English language.  However, I then saw what you added to your prior reply after I replied to it:

EDIT: Forgot about the trolling, sorry nullius (half of the introduction is sufficient for a good description of your posting style in our tittle discussion)

That’s the second time that you have accused me of trolling.  So, let’s get this straight:

  • You:  Hit Godwin-in-one with the coronavirus—and belligerently insist that those who disagree with you just don’t get it, because this can be understood only by those of German or Austrian background, which (as you know through clairvoyance) anyone who disagrees with you must not be.  (I thereby provide to you a Wikipedia link, because you seem to be using Wikipedia to learn about basic n00b concepts pertaining to Internet discussion.)
  • Me:  Pointed out that you’re full of it.  Also that you are ignorant of history—your historiography of WWII causes is arrant nonsense.  And check my post history:  Not a troll.

You accuse me of trolling?

LOL, *plonk*.  ← Usenet jargon meaning that I am killfiling you.

Humour note:  My first objection to OutOfMemory’s horrible analogy was titled, “TRUTH: Coronavirus was created in Hitler’s secret lab, hidden in hollow Earth!!”  I extended OutOfMemory’s absurd analogy to make it even more absurder, for funny hyperbole plus a shot at the idiots pushing the “bioweapon” nonsense in the other thread.

Either I caught mad cow disease from the Nazi-bioengineered coronavirus, or eddie13 said something intentionally funny:

That's it..
I'm calling china and tellin them that it's actually germany/austria's fault..
Also to rename it the hitler virus..

Actually, that’s not a bad idea:  Such rhetoric makes about as much sense as much of the other garbage that’s being passed around.

The difference is that you are saying it as a joke, and not as Jürgen-style “I am ashamed and angry” browbeating delivered with tedious scolding about how people who are not of German or Austrian background can’t understand, or I don’t get it, etc., ad nauseam.

What with you being a self-proclaimed “basically am a jew” (stated by you under protection of America’s First Amendment, in terms illegal for OutOfMemory), you would probably be amused by some of the Jürgen skits involving belligerently unhinged apologies to Jews.  Search Youtube—or simply incite OutOfMemory to explain to you how “angry and ashamed” he is.  Due to our history.  Oh, and if you disagree with anything he says about that, it means you just don’t get it—and you are a troll!

Since you are American, you may not be aware that this is a stereotype in Europe, both on the Continent and in the U.K.—thus the skits on British TV.  Unfortunately, as is the case with many stereotypes, there are a significant number of Germans (and Austrians) who behave this way.  Most of them don’t.  But the stereotype sticks, because (0) the ones who are that way are very vocal about it, and (1) political grudges, of course.

Now, I have covered this tangential subject in some detail.  I tend toward approaching such matters thoughtfully, instead of tossing off an invocation of Godwin’s Law to shut down the discussion.  My mistake, I suppose:  Godwin’s Law exists for a reason.

I will therefore decline to carry this discussion further—unless somebody says something peculiarly amusing, such as that Germans should apologize to China and pay reparations for the Hitler Virus.  LOL.

@HHorsely
HUGELY bullish dynamics for Bitcoin right now:

- BTC flat during HISTORIC risk-off days in markets.

- 72% on Coinbase buying.

- The Halvening is 50 days away.

- Billions in buys coming when levered longs return.

- And if 1% of >$2T+ of stimulus finds its way to Bitcoin...

The mind of a bear is quite interesting.  Cheesy

Seems like lambie/bambie has transgressed into even higher levels of retardedness if he believes that everyone is a bear who has any questions of bitcoin's price direction at this time.

Of course, lambie bambie was arguing with passion and vigor that everyone had to go "all in" when BTC prices were in the $9ks and $10ks, implying that the only way was up.. and how fucked would those people be (financially and psychologically) if they listened to his moar bullish than anyone else stupidities?
Slayers is correct in that there is never a wrong time to go all in King Bitcoin. Some times are better than others(bargains), but all entry levels are good.

Im just a bitter old salty-cunt and still hold a grudge bc Slayer defeated my text walls and banished me from here for weeks while I tried to become a better man with his advice.

Yes GayJayGee, it is always a good time to buy Bitcoin.  Cool We will figure out a way to desalinate your cunt secretions one day. Dont give up.  Wink

N.b., I refuse to carry a phone.  For reason of its location-tracking.  (And its bugging ability, but that is somewhat easier to control.)  I guess the “new normal” does not have a place for me.  Excerpted in pertinent part:

Quote from: Gideon Lichfield, Technology Review, 2020-03-17
We’re not going back to normal
Social distancing is here to stay for much more than a few weeks. It will upend our way of life, in some ways forever.

[...]

We don’t know exactly what this new future looks like, of course. But one can imagine a world in which, to get on a flight, perhaps you’ll have to be signed up to a service that tracks your movements via your phone. The airline wouldn’t be able to see where you’d gone, but it would get an alert if you’d been close to known infected people or disease hot spots. There’d be similar requirements at the entrance to large venues, government buildings, or public transport hubs. There would be temperature scanners everywhere, and your workplace might demand you wear a monitor that tracks your temperature or other vital signs. Where nightclubs ask for proof of age, in future they might ask for proof of immunity—an identity card or some kind of digital verification via your phone, showing you’ve already recovered from or been vaccinated against the latest virus strains.

Quote
I had to travel earlier this month and this is how my movements were being tracked for the purpose of #COVID19 containment.

— Carol Yin (@CarolYujiaYin) March 16, 2020

We’ll adapt to and accept such measures, much as we’ve adapted to increasingly stringent airport security screenings in the wake of terrorist attacks. The intrusive surveillance will be considered a small price to pay for the basic freedom [sic] to be with other people.

[...]

The world has changed many times, and it is changing again. All of us will have to adapt to a new way of living, working, and forging relationships.

I called it!  Enjoy!

All of these actions are praised by the sheep, due to mass panic.  Dissidents will be immediately labelled “conspiracy theorists” and/or accused of wanting for people to die.

2.  The government’s actions do not actually stop the emergency.  This is a feature, not a bug.  Short-term “emergency” measures become long-term daily realities to which people have become accustomed:  The instant new normality.

[...]

If this does not blow over fast (viz., if the virus does not magically disappear right quickly), then the foreseeable alternatives are two sides of the same coin:  Tyranny and anarchy (that last being “anarchy of the rabble”).

If all hell breaks loose, then it is foreseeable that my area will be overrun by roving bands of criminals violently pillaging from anybody who has food—or just hurting people for fun.  Moreover, as the government starts to collapse, it will clamp down as hard as it can as it spins out of control.

And if all hell doesn’t break loose, that only means that the new normality is total State control of food, personal movement, and who-knows-what-else tomorrow.

If any of this seems alarmist, look to history.  Alarmists like to predict Ends Of The World:  Jesus floating down from a cloud, invasion by space aliens, etc., etc.  I am predicting that if the current course of events does not change soon, something will happen that has happened many times in history—except that it has never yet happened on a totally global scale.  Hmmm.

Do the opposite of what panicking people are doing.  For example, I have my own take on this excellent photo of panic personified:

Mass Suicide!

At that point, from the U.S. government’s perspective—yeah, sure, ok, let some right-wing nut in Flyover Country stash a few little gold coins.*  Whatever.  He can keep them between the ARs which he thinks he can use to “defend freedom” militia-style against a régime that twice steamrolled the most powerful Arab military without even blinking, among other exemplary demonstrations of military superpower, and subsequently used Iraq as a testbed for new technologies in asymmetric “counterinsurgency”—hey!  American “patriots”, did you notice that “your” military was busy perfecting unopposable “counterinsurgency” at exactly the same time as “your” domestic police forces suddenly became even more extremely militarized due to “post-911”?  Hmmm?  Anyway, sorry, a few bullion coins at the margins are meaningless in the big picture of the global financial system.

(* I say this without disrespect to the people thus insulted; I am stating the USG perspective on it, and urging would-be American freedom-fighters to be strategically realistic.  Don’t give up your AR, but don’t delude yourself into believing that this is 1774.)

Edit:
I condemn anybody and everybody who PANICS.

Out of respect for those few Americans who are not contemptible domestic animals begging to be wrapped in unlimited chains forever, I will quote a great American—a famous quote, which obviously applies here:

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” — Benjamin Franklin

Covbull-19 only gains serious traction in specific climate circumstances.

https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3550308

"Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2, has established significant community spread in cities and regions along a narrow east west distribution roughly along the 30-50o N’ corridor at consistently similar weather patterns consisting of average temperatures of 5-11oC, combined with low specific (3-6 g/kg) and absolute humidity (4-7 g/m3). There has been a lack of significant community establishment in expected locations that are based only on population proximity and extensive population interaction through travel."

Along the main routes of traffic. The environment numbers are maybe only a result of the seasonal changes. One of the main spreading factors seems to be indoor location, with preferably many persons, close together, in a high frequency.
Airports, shopping malls, concerts, clubs, subway, bars, ronald mc. arkward and so on. A reproduction value of R=1.4 is enough to let this thing explode.
Excellent data you bring up. I have nothing to controvert it so I resort to obfuscating with "seems to be" and "maybe" statements.

Do you think i would assume that everything i learned about Covid is always correct? I don't. So you can't blame me for precise communication in these matters. Still cant controvert your data, so Ill just ramble a bit.

Quote
Quote
You forgot, that on the peak of this pandemic, many people will likely be sick AT ONCE, more or less serious, and can't go to work for a certain time. It's exponential, baby. That's why you gotta slow it down, preferably with the least damage (generally speaking). You seem to assume only the sick and old are the problem, but reality never is that simple. There are a lot of other factors.
Speaking of simple: Simple, wide ranging solutions in complex environments are most likely failing to achieve something specifically wanted. On the downside, they tend to create new problems, sometimes many.
I cant deny locking down old and sick only would save millions by avoiding a severe global depression. But I need to justify my fears to massage my ego. It would be a blow to my ego to think I was unduly concerned about doom porn. So Ill just discuss how complicated things are and throw a few truisms in to fluff up the word count.

Speaking of ego...  Roll Eyes
You truly think you can read between lines, being always correct?
A little over confident, maybe?
Nailed it.

It reads like some alarmist Marxist horseshit to me with a lot of flair by a practiced hand.

I think a nutshell version would be. "The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope."

"The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope."

Just to let you guys know, I have just now decided to start a rope selling company..
So HMU if you need some rope..

I'm failing to comprehend how one can believe in Liberty, but at the same time, be anti-Democracy, but I'll ponder on that for a while longer..
I understand the benefits of both, but fail to understand how they could coexist.. Unless we are talking about anarchy - anarchy for the masses, not just the few..

... pity about lambie slayer going into a full retard panic about the sclerotic 0.1%er global economy going into the shitter. He was ok until he caught the virus. Now it's like we got infested with another govvie trolling shill disruptor ... like roach got reassigned or something? The global economy was dying long before this angel of death bearing plague showed up, right on time for them sweet corporate and banking bailouts too I might add. I cant hide that Im a bit butthurt for being called out on panicking and attempting to spread fear and doom. Its one thing to be weak kneed, but to be called out on it stings more. Tbh Im the one acting like Roach with the end of the world fantasy spiel. Any casual observer has noticed it.

"Herd immunity" crashes and burns, you can catch coronavidae multiple times ... "herd immunity" eugenics is a fancy way of saying let the angel of death keep circulating around the planet until humanity is purged of all the vulnerable, 80 million deaths (1-2% of population). Bill Gates would be impressed. Elon Musk is probably another secret depopulation nerd too.I was a decent poster here for many years. Something changed in my personal life and I've gotten weird with theories on rich boogeymen out to get me. A little Roachish, I know right...

I know let's unleash some smallpox in lambie's govvie department to get some herd immunity going in the pentagon, or anthrax might be more their tipple? Its easier to think Slayer is a govy operative than to admit Im into a bit of a doom fetish of late.

Actually I do work for the government and doom really is coming.  Roll Eyes

In all seriousness I've been reading your posts for a long time. Most of em I liked. This whole Armageddon shtick of late seems a bit off for you.  To each his own.
