Remember I am inclusive of any coin that I can mine and turn into BTC.

Eth price rising makes my gpu mining more successful.

Which in turn allows me to buy more btc.

a 500 price for eth means

a 540 price for eth means

why? if he has more coin and later the price goes stratospheric it makes no real difference what the price was that he just sold at in the end. if you sold corn at whatever price and now have enough fiat (or whatever) for your immediate plans, plus spare corn for later, its future value increase will surely suffice.

unless youre just a pure greed kinda guy. nothing wrong with that i guess but its not my gig.
It's 99% playful needling: Bob was really tightly wound up about selling for awhile, wondering, waiting for the right time, then he finally blew his proverbial wad. With that much build up you have to kid him a bit about it for awhile :-)

Fair point to needle bob.

And 1% caution: Many people sold out at particular levels: $1, $50, $600 (me, towels), $3,000, etc. In each case we received goods or services that now appear to be insane in terms of value against waiting.

This seems to be crazy to see these kind of ongoing decisions to buy stuff with bitcoin and NOT to realize that it is selling your bitcoin until later down the road...

Yeah, who cares, sell whatever the fuck, unless you cannot afford to buy them back in a reasonable time.. If you cannot, then that is your choice to sell or oversell..

Sorry for your loss... kind of, but not really... you made a choice.

It's not quite greed so much as wonder at what bitcoin might become: A true reserve currency.

Who cares?  Bitcoin does not need to become a reserve currency in order to profit stupendously... sure, if it were to become a reserve currency, then that is in the potentiality, but it really does not matter very much in terms of individual micro decisions regarding how much, if any, value to allocate towards BTC.. Reserve currency is just one amongst a bunch of other more concrete individual factors.

That's incredible when you think about it considering that it's "just numbers"and all that. But it's numbers that can be trusted and it doesn't matter if paypal or governments or anyone tries to create more of it out of thin air: 6.25 coins will be created every 10 minutes and not a satoshi more. Thinking about the ramifications of that, a money that can't be shaved or faked or undermined is stunning.

When I think of it that way, there is a part of me that whispers "you know, 20k is just $20 again".

And to be fair: You sell when you need to, just try to make sure the reasons were good. The towels were bought partially to show my highly skeptical partner that yes this tinkering I am doing CAN produce items of tangible value. The coins sold for the car bought me something that has brought a lot of fun and pleasure to my life at a point where I can still enjoy it. Buying a couple of gold coins with bitcoins was *stupid* but it also got at least one coin vendor to see their true value and potential.

So we do things when we do them. Sure Bob could have waited longer to bail his beau out of bondage, but that would mean less time spent as free men. Doing it while they are young allows them to enjoy the passing of time, which is one thing that we each have a set amount of in life, and like bitcoins all the hoping and praying and whining in the universe will not add one second to our time allotted on this earth or one more satoshi to be added to our wallets. Only actions have the potential to do that.

Guess the final word on this is "make it count" and "if you sell it do it to make your life better in the fixed time you have left". If what you sell for increases your life's length, health, quality, and/or enjoyment then it's probably a good deal.

Otherwise, HODL!

All fair points... .including that bitcoin is amazing.

I wonder if there could be a way to turn this whole KYC and ID thing to our advantage. For instance, what if we would simply post all of our private data on the net? If we then were accused of something that leads back to us, we could simply answer: sure, but that could have been anybody, because my data is publicly available anywhere. (let's be honest, government security has more holes than a sieve anyway, so our info probably is up for grabs already...)

That's like saying, "if you find me - you can fuck me, and if you don't - I will be under the stairs." Tongue
Ever heard of identity theft? It's called private data for a pretty good reason.

Although in reality I would have hidden a sheep under the stairs.

I see we've entered the afterburner phase of pumping.  BTC pumps... traders take profit... pump alts... take profit... return their money to BTC.

ATH not far away now... any day now.

@JJG, Your plan does not include the "universe", just bitcoin/fiat duality.

I don't know, Biodom.  This thread is about bitcoin/usd.... so I do not really reasons to elaborate on other aspects.. especially if you are trying to hint that there might be some benefits in having shitcoins in your repertoire.  That both seems to be a topic of another thread, and also it seems way the fuck more complicated to include shitcoins in your investment plans because there are a lot of factors, including that almost every single one of them is longterm correlated to BTC, too.

Certainly, if we get into details of factors that I believe that every person should be accounting, I do mention factors that they could end up tailoring in such a way that could allow for some benefits of shitcoins, at least in a short time horizon... and who knows, depending on a persons age and investment timeline, there could be some potential benefits to limited shitcoin plays.... Remember the totality of factors are cashflow, other investments, view of bitcoin in comparison to other investments, timeline, risk tolerance, and time, skills and abilities to plan, learn, strategize, reallocate and perhaps trade and tweak plans from time to time based on learnings along the way.

IMHO, a more holistic approach-like the one @Wekkel was hinting at is needed.

I doubt that incorporating shitcoins in your plan is any kind of necessity or more wholistic approach, even if it might be somewhat suitable for some peeps depending on their calculations of their personal circumstances as I outlined above.  Furthermore, it seems to devolve into off topicness, anyhow to get into any of those kinds of details especially if we try to identify potential positive aspects that might exist and be measurable (or willing to speculate.. blah blah blah) in some rare shitcoins.

Albeit, thou does "protest too much" sometimes.

"thou" = yours truly?

I am quite glad that we attempt to avoid or minimize talking about shitcoins in this thread.. or just to bash them from time to time... and sure there seem to be some members who want to go down that seemingly slippery slope... and some members have semi-boners for shitcoin discussions that they want to bring to this great thread and to fuck up this thread like a lot of other threads that tolerate that bullshit slippery slope nonsense that is hard to stop once any of it is allowed..

So protest.. seems a good thing.. to shut the shitcoin talk the fuck up.  Stomp it out as soon as it starts to show any kind of possible beginnings...

Something like this:

This weekend, for some reason, retail is going for "crypto" with gusto, forgetting about bitcoin for a day.

Why should we care  in this here thread?  Does it relate to bitcoin somehow?

Institutions would probably "correct' this on Monday, but for now something strange is happening.

Maybe you should go find some ANN thread and discuss these "strange" thingie-ma-jiggies that seem to excite you so muchie?

I remember watching the 3,000 BTC sell wall at $10k get eaten alive in a matter of minutes on GDAX years ago.  Looks like a 1,000 BTC sell wall at $19k now.  Likely an appetizer before the main course.

And there is a new AYH just about 1000Dollores under the ATH.

As I type this post, I calculate the difference to be $689... since we had an ATH of $19,666 and we had a AYH from yesterday (about 17 hours ago) of $18,977.

You are coming off like a nincompoop, sorry, have fun once a while.
Or, maybe, you should spend a bit more time "outside".
Of course, "other" things happening in the universe are related to bitcoin.
You yourself frequently post about the "other" shitcoin-fiat, which is not relevant to me, but I don't object.
This board has lots of irrelevant info, most endearing type, I agree, but btc/shitcoin ratio is more important than that.
