Of course DCA works..

it is a solid technique.. and maybe it is not looking like it works for fucktwats who waited until the past few months to get in, but if you had DCA'ed in to bitcoin over the past 2-3 or more years, you would be sitting pretty god-damned pretty at this point.

Bitcoin is not going to reward peeps who are short-sighted and gambling as well as the DCA'ers and the HODLers.. (which includes stat stackers).

Oh.. yeah and for sure, none of us have been suggesting any one sized fits all strategy because DCA surely works, but it also supplements both front-loading and over-investing... which are both great strategies as well, in moderation of course.

Ok, I agree,  DCA works and in fact it's worked very well as my history documents here in WO,  just trolling the growing FOMO sentiment Wink couldn't help myself lol Wink  Grin  You have credit in part for introductory to a DCA strategy and education here, cheers!  Never did fancy that ladder approach stuff though  Roll Eyes
Conviction is the secret key to BTC success coupled with being a level headed actor. Easy, not easy right?

It takes many years and lots of posts to share my various ideas on bitcoin, and part of my emphasis has always been that guys (and gal) make a variety of efforts to tailor their BTC investment and accumulation strategies to their own situation.. and of course keeping in mind that once accumulation goals are reached then variations of maintenance and liquidation may well become more prominent - but still for individuals to try to tailor their best to their own circumstances and to learn and tweak along the way.. which may cause emphasis on one practice or another, but DCA is only one of several components (an important component but not the ONLY component).

I could go into some details, but no specific question was raised beyond the it's not easy part, which might cause me to devolve too much... and of course, it's not easy, even if there might be aspects that can be framed in easy to understand principles, but ultimately tailoring ones investment approach to his/her own situation and actually understanding the implications of the various individual factors can be quite a bit of a project to actually attempt to understand with some kind of clarity - and perhaps a lifetime of study and tweaking.

Those individual factors, as a reminder, are cashflow, other investments, view of bitcoin as compared with view of other investments, timeline, risk tolerance and time, abilities, and skills to learn and tweak from time to time which may involve reallocating and trading.    Wink

replying, but highlighting the funny passage in the prior (@JJG) response..Saylor and Musk both qualify as fucktwats by that definition, I had a nice laugh.

You have a pretty decent penchant, Biodom, to twist my words around to your own liking, but whatever, I can take your trolling (or would it be stalking).. whatever.

My take:
1. If you have a large or medium cash pile available, don't listen and don't wait, maybe divide in two-three chunks, but DON'T do DCA with whatever you decided to invest.

That sounds kind of familiar.. the three chunks bit.

This is kind of crazy thing to do with the current price dynamics. Why? How do you know when it would jump again...and again?

You don't know.... that's right.  That's why you engage in some self-reflection and figure out what makes you somewhat as much comfortable that you can be, given your reflection on your personal situation.

If Saylor was DCAing , I am calculating that his average purchase would be about 23K and they would have 30% less btc and would have $1bil less in value of that btc right now.

Fuck Saylor.

Saylor did what he believe to be the right approach, and you (yes uie) have to reflect upon ur lil selfie and not get too caught up on what some billionnaire did or was able to do that may well not reflect very well on your own personal situation including your cashflow and other various personal factors that you should be accounting for (do I really need to repeat them?)

He was already buying the second chunk at almost twice the price of the first one (~11K first, ~22K second, 16K average). Second part was done using the borrowed money, which explains the delay.

hm?  How many people can extrapolate their circumstances to Saylor's?  Sure e maybe some, but seems like it might be an exception rather than a rule.. perhaps?

2. if you are investing a small portion of your cash flow, it's a whole different story, DCA is natural for that, but don't expect to have a large appreciation in the immediate future. It might still come years down the road.

That makes sense.

EDIT: not an investment advice, just an opinion for entertainment purposes  Grin.

Very entertaining.  Thanks.   Wink

So Elon Musk promotes dogecoin but buys Bitcoin? And people still buy doge? Hmmmm

Are you saying he...distracted people with a shitcoin?  Huh  Embarrassed

Oh no!

 Grin

Once i see a fat red candle on the dogeshitcoin and BTC daily, I am shorting the doge to the ground. Just a matter of time.

he later said that he bought doggiecoin for his little X, so he might not be completely ambivalent about it.

He told us 1.5Bn were spent on Bitcoin... How much exactly did he spend on Dogecoin?

Man... I've been trading Doge for more then a week now. And I can tell you there is some weird buying pressure happening all the time. There is more money then there is dodge. And I made some simple math about the supply of doge per year, and it is way less then the amount the central banks are printing. Smiley  Roll Eyes  Shocked  Cool  Huh  Cheesy  Grin

Well no.
Doge been inflating over 4%, the average of fiat over the last 100 so years is 2.3%, sure way more in resent times but a 4% value loss per year you my be ok with not so many more.

I love the smell of WO and sweaty feet in the morning.

Third morning I'm waking up after a whole night of dreaming wildly of BTC pumps and dumps. Very bad mood. I blame it on Elon. Some shitposters will suffer today.

Hodl. Et cetera.

Can you please explain this part to me? I though the supply was supposed to be infinite for Doge, not capped like BTC? Isn't that one of Doge's demerits? Why is the supply low if there is no hardcap?

Compared with the banking system 1 Dollar (US/CA/AU) / Euro / Pound =/= 1 Dodge . I mean when they say they need to print 1 trillion of Dollars / Euro or wtf... Smiley well sh!t, they can't do that! Because they only get like 5,256 billion dodge per year. (10K per minute... x60 minutes .. x24 hours ... x365 days and u get that 5256 billion number) Smiley

Basically if the European Union, the US and other countries would like to adjust for inflation and they would need each 1 trillion of their currency. Well they can't adapt and adjust for inflation, because they have less. So the current supply is not enough for the inflation demand that we need. So basically the price will go up even with 10K coins per minute. Smiley

Also the miners will be more and the 10K per minute will start splitting between each other less and less. So if u think that 1 person or 10 people get that 14,4 million Dodge per day and each has a million. You are wrong. Some big miners if they get 1-2K per day and some get just a few hundred with a small home setup. Tongue

So, more miners, less coins, not enough inflation, much inflation needed, much WoW! Cheesy Cheesy

I was looking through one of my old collections of downloaded images and I found this gem.

I'll dedicate it to Mindrust.

 Cool

At least he is still active on the forum, trying to re-build his stash from scratch.
But You will probably never see him again here on the WO.

Well do u think 4% will be enough for them ?? NO!

Compared with their actual printing system, Dodge has a soft cap based on time. And their current system uses ATM machines that need electricity and maintenance, but that doesn't justify their endless capacity on demand "printing" endless sums with endless zero's just because they want.  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

Also, in some years lets say Dodge will be 2$ and some years it will be 0.74$. But that will be normal and it will be a good incentive. Tongue
^ But I don't rly believe this will be much possible, since there will be some sort of hoarding and manipulation on the markets. Smiley

Yes! I understand what you are saying!!! But 10K per minute is not enough to adjust for inflation. There needs to be more. And it can't be more. Cuz that means it would need for the network to fork. Smiley
