You think I don’t know that? See my post.

I know you know that. I just don't think you appreciate the implications. That the EC is in place affects everything from the candidates chosen to the campaigns and how people turn out. One of the (many) factors thought to be a factor in Hillary's defeat is that she basically said "fuck it" to campaigning in several states (her being a horrible candidate should not be ignored, of course, let alone fucking over Bernie). Get rid of the EC and it's a totally different election. The votes don't transfer over, however much you'd like that to be the case.

...seriously dude?

Hey, you were the one glibly dismissing (and insulting) the longstanding institution of the EC.

Ok fair enough. My original post was merely to dispute oom’s statement that at least 50% of voters in USA get the government they voted for, which, due to the weird rules of the EC, is not always the case.
I personally think it’s absurd one can lose the popular vote but still win the election.
So yes, I will “glibly dismiss the antiquated longstanding institution of the EC” because imo, it’s bullshit.

Also, I don’t get your “votes don’t transfer over” statement.
Simply put, if there was no EC, the moron T***p loses the 2016 election.

Lex Luthor is in trouuu-bbblllleee!!!

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1679788/000167978823000051/coin-20230322.htm

Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
On March 22, 2023, Coinbase Global, Inc. and Coinbase, Inc. (collectively, the “Company”) received a “Wells Notice” from the Staff (“Staff”) of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) stating that the Staff has advised the Company that it made a “preliminary determination” to recommend that the SEC file an enforcement action against the Company alleging violations of the federal securities laws, including the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended (the “Exchange Act”), and the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the “Securities Act”). Based on discussions with the Staff, the Company believes these potential enforcement actions would relate to aspects of the Company’s spot market, staking service Coinbase Earn, Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Wallet. The potential civil action may seek injunctive relief, disgorgement, and civil penalties. The Company published additional information on a blog related to the foregoing which can be found at www.coinbase.com/blog and on the Twitter feeds of Brian Armstrong (@brian_armstrong) and Paul Grewal (@iampaulgrewal). Information on or accessible through the Company’s website or Twitter is not incorporated by reference in this Current Report on Form 8-K.
This information shall not be deemed “filed” for purposes of Section 18 of the Exchange Act, or incorporated by reference in any filing under the Securities Act or the Exchange Act, except as shall be expressly set forth by specific reference in such a filing.

I'm glad that i abandoned Coinbase a while ago.
That feeling, you know?

OK, in relation to Ooms post, fair enough.

My point is that if the election wasn't decided by EC, it would have been a totally different game and would have been played differently. It's just not comparable. Simple example, I live in a red state. Everyone knows it's going red. So likely a lot of people don't even bother to vote (on both sides but likely mostly on the right). And a mirror image in blue states too. And that's just one example. It plays out across many aspects. Quite possibly Trump might have had more votes or maybe Hillary would have had a landslide. The complexity makes it pretty intractable.

As for the elimination of the EC, you have an uphill struggle there. It's still a union of states and you're not going to find many (though there are some) that want to be ruled by California and New York.

Oh yeah, no offense to the amazing haberdasher who created my hat, I would request my removal from the formal "hat gang".

I'll always love my hat, but it's something I've had to sadly place in my trophy case, as a memory of a better time.

Don't let the door hit your furry lettuce butt on the way out.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

By the way, I give less than two shits about being part of a group or a gang, but I like the idea of lazer eyes combined with hats that happen to represent a kind of sentiment of the day.. and I told Homer that I did not really want to change my avatar, but it seems that I ended up; changing it several times, and surely nice pieces of art too... which largely were better than my previous avatar.. and also I don't even have the same interpretation of lazer eyes in terms of people telling me that it means that I am looking forward to $100k or some bullshit interpretation like that...

My own interpretation is "keep your eyes on the prize" which surely is bitcoin, continues to be bitcoin and likely will continue to be bitcoin.. and sure I suppose if some other coin were to come out or maybe some other kind of symbolic sign of the time (or communicative fad) in which my hat were to get updated even MOAR better (if that is possible?), then I am more than willing to change into that new fad.. so long as I were to agree with it and if such a thingie were to come.

I have a source that swears it will be +0.25%

He is a recently retired banker.

Ie smart enough to leave his bank in 2022 as rates rose.

No wonder your brain is so muddled.  Rubbing too many shoulders with bankers, so you are likely brainwashed.... fiat brained, if there is such a thing.. . Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

snap out of it..

snap out of it...

lobotomy in order, anyone?

if you can get by not vaping....dont....its probably not good for you imo
as a life long imbiber of toxic substances...i can honestly say it starts having effects on health as you age
thats the kicker....at some point the piper must be paid and you only get a very small say in where, when and how as the bill comes due
kinda the old saying...take what you want...just be prepared to pay for it
stronghands

Actually, you have a decent point toxicmoxic, and I am not sure exactly of the expression, but there is a kind of dynamic in which our bodies can take a lot of abuse while we are younger and while we are still growing (and sure in spite of all the little fat diabetes kids), but anyhow, it is quite possible to be in great shape, have a lot of bad habits and your body still can tolerate and recover from various kinds of abuse; however, like you mention, as each of us gets older, our bodies become less tolerant to some kinds of abuses, and some people are more sensitive than others to certain kinds of abuses and some people are more able to tolerate and recover from various kinds of abuses that others are able to tolerate.  At the same time, we might not be able to measure exactly if we might be causing some irreparable damages, and if we have historically had some issues (such as heart issues), there could be some signs that we might have some vulnerabilities that we had not known about.. and so some of the heart related matters, but then there are immunity and also insulin resistance matters that sometimes are not clear.. or liver damage that can build up.. but the liver tends to recover quite well, but sometimes even the liver does get overloaded, too.

Don't even get me started.  My doctor sent me for a few tests last week and I got a phone call from her early the next morning - that's never a good sign... and it wasn't.  When I was younger, I would never even hear about the results.  FFS, she wants me to cut the cream out of my coffee!  Muh cream!!  I actually tried to do it today when I ordered a coffee but then I noticed they wrote "C" on the lid.  I asked them about it and apparently even though I swear I asked for milk (it was literally the only thing I was thinking and crying about as I entered the coffee shop), it came out sounding like "cream".  Weird.  The lady offered to make another coffee with milk but I told her it was fate and I wasn't about to mess with that.  I'll be trying again tomorrow anyway.  I might have to write "milk" on my hand... or tie a string around my nipple or something.

i still hope the price will be going sideways for some more time.

Even though it is better to wish for sideways rather than down, still not a good look.

 Angry Angry Angry Angry

Sharpen up, soldiers!!!!!!!

If you are an OG.. act like one.

Don't be looking like a low coiner, no coiner or a trader who sold too many cornz, too soon... even if true.

Are the 70's coming back Who remembers this term "Stag-flation"
google search result below  "The stagflation of the 1970s, a combination of slow growth and rapidly rising prices, challenged prior assumptions, leading economists to examine the causes and policies that would end the stagnant period."

No we are not in the 70s anymore.

We also have bitcornz.. and a few other changes... including a decently long period in which the various non-soundness of the money had been able to run hot (at least between the 90s, 00s and 10s... and some of the snowballing effects of he allowance of debt and the bailing out of some folks who did not deserve to be bailed out.. has contributed towards worse monetary vulnerabilities currently as compared to the earlier precarious levels that are not even close to as bad, relatively speaking.  Sure the USA is more able to rely on the whole world's economy to inflate away the debt (which was not as possible in the 70s), but part of the problem with that is that several other currencies are likely going to have to fail first.. so sad as that is.. and I hope it takes 20-30 years to play out, but sometimes there might be way more pain than that.. and likely more pain than the 70s.. relatively speaking..

have you heard of dee corz as a relevant factor too?  I am wondering.?  Am I going to need to explain dee cornz to uie-pooie?  In other words, we are not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

not sure why such animosity against Coinbase....Local bitcoins are closed.....hellooooo.
you can buy or sell on Coinbase in a fairly liquid fashion, cash out or transfer out...what else do you need?

Are you trying to be selectively blind?

There's more going on with Coinbase than merely comparing them with LocalBitcoins, and surely there are various other ways to get coins, too... other exchanges, and of course, there are complications because various government agencies, government representatives, financial institutions have entered into various degrees of love/hate relationships with bitcoin/crypto/so-called stable coins to the extent that they are different from crypto, and other battling ambiguities....

Right now, the news of the Wells notices from the SEC, and even the downward drafting of the COIN stock (I heard that ARK investment sold a lot of their COIN shares)...  are not exactly demonstration of forum member hostilities towards Coinbase, even though as you know there has been quite a bit of criticism of their CEO Brian Armstrong and even some of their practices of adding shitcoins and even seeming to have been on the "wrong side" of the block wars in 2017 .. and including even concerns that they had manipulated the Bcash/BTC market at various points in 2017... and surely we could go on about some of the historical concerns, even though in more recent times, surely Coinbase has grown quite BIGGEDly.. but maybe not too BIG to suffer from regulatory attacks that might not even be fair, even though they also likely have some BIGGER legal players who had partnered up with them (Blackrock is it?), and hey I am not even sure if there might not be some potential coordinated attack that works towards putting them into a position in which they have to get absorbed by more traditional (and more friendly) players,

.......and I am not even suggesting that Brian has not had some of his moments to actually seem to be making some pretty decent legal fights against the various US Govt agencies... to support his own company but even that he sometimes had become less afraid to say the word bitcoin.. so there's that... but there are a quite few shitcoiners who are likely getting put into a position in which they have to try a wee bit MOAR harder to remember their roots and who is their lillie fiend and their lil precious... (referring to king daddy)...

...as each of us gets older, our bodies become less tolerant to some kinds of abuses...

Sure physical time to recover from injury or exercise, but also I was referring to abuses that might include dietary choices or even toxins such as things that you might inhale or drink....

Well they brought flares and beards back into fashion, and the next thing we know we get rapidly rising prices. Things might get even worse if they bring kipper ties back into fashion.
