Got email from Coinbase saying that "if you sent your bitcoin for them to sell, then they would produce tax documents for you where they would be indicating the "base/cost" as ZERO", with a lame excuse of not knowing what it cost you (instead of indicating the value of bitcoin when they GOT IT).
For 2022 it is still not covered by automatic reporting (like stocks), but if next year they will start...and that was in some of laws that already passed, and then many of us would have huge problems, potentially, as they will report your sale price and your imaginary "cost" at ZERO to the three letter dudes.
TL;DR prepare to get wrecked next year

Was supposed to post this 4 hours ago that bearish divergence on 4hr has again been broken (after about a month of it): Bit late now I realise but same result as back around $20K in early March, new yearly highs have arrived. Have been saying that consolidation at the highs (even below resistance) has been bullish these past weeks, while many suspected that it was bearish that price wasn't able to move higher. Clearly, today it showing that that this consolidation was bullish all along. Doesn't look like a fake-out to me what-so-ever. What happens in the $29K to $32K range remains a different story. It was previous support for 18 months, so could well act as resistance. But given the weeks worth of consolidation (similar to April 2019) then there could certainly be the momentum to break through it. It's ironic as many bears even suspected price would move higher before moving lower. So clearly the market can't be that bearish!

...I understand that there is also an automated bank security system that stops some payments (and I noted this right away, this is their control over my money)...
It's not your money if it's in a bank. It's the banks money until they pay you back. Only on #Bitcoin is the only safe place for your money!

.... ..... I forgot to check the price of bitcoin during dinner.
I've got my price checking addiction habit down to once a day. You need to go to a meeting bro. They start like this.... <xhomerx> (at meeting)... "Hello everyone, I'm Homer and I'm a bitcoin aholic" <Everyone else, in unison> ..... "HI HOMER!" (If one has never been to a "meeting", this post will probably go "woooosh") Dr. Lance Dodes wrote a book about that and did an interview with NPR: https://www.npr.org/2014/03/23/291405829/with-sobering-science-doctor-debunks-12-step-recovery" ...There is a large body of evidence now looking at AA success rate, and the success rate of AA is between 5 and 10 percent. Most people don't seem to know that because it's not widely publicized. ... There are some studies that have claimed to show scientifically that AA is useful. These studies are riddled with scientific errors and they say no more than what we knew to begin with, which is that AA has probably the worst success rate in all of medicine...."

since i send in a form 8949 with all cost basis and sells why would that matter? i assume coinbase has always sent all data they have already whether they admit or not.

I read the WO for many years before creating my account, so I couldn't use the ignore list feature at first anyways. But back then the WO was different, so that I didn't even want an ignore list. ...Even the former trolls, like Stolfi or Roach were always an interesting read. Nowadays meh... but still... I love this community and I have a feeling of missing out a part (even though it's the shitty one) of WO reality, if I use ignore... so I somewhat still prefer scrolling through the ideocracy... let's see how long I can bear it ...

I went to one meeting (NA) many moons ago just to say I have. I was like “this is nonsense!” I think I was the only one in there not nodding off. What a joke. When I quit dope, the last place I wanted to be was with a gathering of chain smoking, junkie losers, reciting the same old tired sob stories. It’s enough to make one want to go use again.

My memory is not the best on that case, but the hitman stuff seems to have been a kind of set-up by the feds who lured Ulbricht into it. Afaik, the murder allegations were dismissed in the end.
I do not know if it a pre-planned setup into getting him to hire killers or if it was his own plan. But ultimately, giving the order was Ross's own decision. He thought they were real killers at the time and he gave them the order to murder 6 people. Whether he was egged on by the FBI or not does not really matter to me after that point. I do not see how anyone can defend him. He himself does not deny this.
