No, you don't need it.
It's for people having sync issues, or needing the full transaction history into their wallet (for example blockchain explorers).

You're wrong。 BTC38 would prefer XCN to die, they hope that the currency does not have a team no nodes, and then hire a number of developers to develop a new currency to replace, from which to seek benefits.
