Yes I am.
But is it that much?

Tips are welcome at this address 18DVZkpSwmejPjekX3QMKvRRtR8Bfx65LN.
Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Yes I am.
But is it that much?

Yesterday, when we had these 8 blocks in one day, I found 2 blocks in 24h... then I went to bed, and when I woke up I had found 18 shares. And I did not sleep for 48h Tongue

So yes, it can be that much.

No.  Something is wrong.  What miner?  What miner settings?

forrestv; will you consider adding a command line option that limits the total number of connections? My p2pool instance currently has 47 connections, and this plus bitcoind's connections I fear might be too much for my cheap router. At least this could be the case when other people need to use the connection too for torrent downloads etc.

EDIT: Yay! We've finally reached the number of blocks our cumulative share count justifies: http://u.forre.st/p2pool/luck.png

No.  Something is wrong.  What miner?  What miner settings?

My P2Pool shows "14 orphans, 4 dead", my miner settings are:

cgminer -o http://MY_IP:9332/ -u garimpeiro_miner0 -p x -g 1 --auto-fan --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 800-900 750-940 800-940 --gpu-memclock 150 -I 8 --submit-stale --gpu-reorder --api-listen --api-network

Is that right?!

Tks!

I'm using cgminer with -I 8 -g 1 flags powertune set to 20

mining with a 6790 and a 6870

p2pool showed 59 shares 10 orphan 2 dead

I've turned off powertune for now (lose a few MH/s) and reset GPU's to default clocks, they were mildly overclocked (880 to 930)

thx for any help!

In my experiments, reducing intensity (the -I flag) is much more important in reducing stales than adjusting overclock settings.

I've a feeling either my overclock or power tune were to blame so I'm going to mine with defaults for 24 hours, see if it makes a difference!

Why not use --auto-fan?!

Using it 100% 24x7 will decrease the life time of your hardware, you probably don't need it at 100%.

That's why I have a Python script with a software PID loop that keeps the temperature at 81.0 C +- .5 C on my 2x6990. As soon as I ventilate the room, the fans go down pretty fast. If anybody is interested, I can put that script on GitHub. The fan speed adjustements are very smooth and are not normally noticeable.

I have not actually tried --auto-fan, so I cannot compare, as I wrote that before switching to cgminer.

OK, I brought this up somewhere else before ... but I've now thought of something:

The coinbase txn is limited to a certain number of payout (otherwise these p2pool blocks would be ENORMOUS)
So what happens to all the small unpaid amounts?
Since the share-chain only lasts N days ...

Yep, I'd be interested to see that script.
