Do NOT download or run torcoin-qt.exe - the executable is confirmed to contain a wallet.dat stealing trojan.

ESET found no virus
I believe it's a false positive, anyways, a few days back I'v sent a false positive to Avira, we'll see if their reply will be the same

I submitted a False Positive report to ESET (NOD32, ESET Smarty Security, etc...) They replied to me today and confirmed that it is a false positive. They have already updated their virus signatures. TorCoin no longer shows up as a Trojan in ESET. I verified this by running another scan of the file directly.

I just loaded up TorCoin and generated my first wallet address.

I got different results a few days back, so I tested it today again
And got

Why are you sending the older link?
The newer one has some virus signature updates and therfore registered false positives
However this one is a week old too as you can see Bitdefender hasn't yet been updated!

Looking for a signature campaign.

SCAM Coin, no scam coin coin. Huge premine, no huge premine, anonymous or not anonymous TOR coin is good and so far @TheTORCoin seems responsible.
Read the history of some of the top Cryptos and you'd realize that TORCoin's history is even better.
I've followed this thread for long. #TeamFUD started with "scam and huge premine claims", now its about anonymity.
Even grandpapa bitcoin was premined by satoshi N.
Dev need a store of his own coins as motivation, to prevent abandoning,  as money to pay for bounties etc.

Premine is a FACT not a claim. Why dev doesn't put the premine on a trusted escrow ?
Anonymity issue is also a fact. DEV himself said the tor network is only supported in linux wallets and even then it's not by default. So 99 % of users (who use PC & MAC) are not connected to TOR let alone run a TOR node which is the whole one-of-a-time idea behind this coin.

These two are facts. Not FUD. Let me repeat this, FACTS!

And I won't bother mentioning the copyright issues and the fact that TOR has already denounced this coin which is also a FACT
You are a fool and i beg you to leave this thread.

I believe these attacks are exaggerated

Obviously no one has been hacked
ESET team and Bitfender team have replied that the results were indeed false falgs

Why did some users intentionally post an older scan  rather then the new one they would get scanning now (relatively new, a week old, still needs updates) I fail to understand

Also I currently have a lot of messeges,  note that I have an exam in a couple of hours so I'll reply to my messeges in the evening Smiley

Don't download and run Tor wallet !!!
Dev change files !
It's CoinStealer now

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/40387019beef2eb50cec3fe0ced82f81eec44140a17e9b1dfd3c895bba9af0b0/analysis/

You can download and check it by yourself but don't run it!

is this dev a scammers i see he is tagget with red flag? it seems absurd that we are trusting this guy that also run a signature campaign, now from where i can download my client to store my torcoin, if that is infected?
Use an exchange address if you are having second thought on the client. I have not downloaded the latest client and I am also having doubts if it will be safe but so far the old version I have doesn't have anything suspicious in it.

if the exchange is safe, it mean that the exchange is using the not-infected wallet, therefore there is a good version which is clean, if they can provide to us that version would be better, because i don't like to store in an exchange it can be hacked, even so now i'm forced to do it for this reason

pow ?
setgenerate true? command please...

no you mine this with asic, cpu mining with the client is useless

Thanks for clarifying that it is a false positive, I just want to ask something because i am really worried. If there is a walet.dat that is a coin stealer, what does it mean? Does it act like all your Torcoin will be gone, how about the otehr funds, like btc, eth, ltc, and other alts, are they compromised too?
or does it also act like a keylogger as well that can get our log in details. Thanks for someone who will answer my questions.

The wallet is not infected, nothing is indangered.

The alerts are false flags.
ESET and BitDefender have not found anything malicious in the wallet.
It's safe to use Smiley

Feel free to downlod the github version if you still feel insecure though.

The link you posted is based on the URL, which is a different analysis using the website address itself, not the actual executable that is downloaded.
You posting this link seems odd to me.

As of today, when I download the Windows version directly from TorCoin's website and run it through virustotal, this is what it shows:

Torcoin: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/40387019beef2eb50cec3fe0ced82f81eec44140a17e9b1dfd3c895bba9af0b0/analysis/1495027828/
22/60

Some of these could potentially be false positives because they are generic detections of a trojan but this is very alarming when you do the same thing to other altcoins out there and see the differences. These were all fresh downloads and directly uploaded to virustotal.

Litecoin: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/7b6a0c05d4f393840f2e11afee615ddf11a54e65146225cb395311ee0ce9c394/analysis/1495030629/

0/60

In addition, everything describing TorCoin on the OP of this thread and on the TorCoin website makes it seem like it is acting as a Tor node and is not sharing any IP information, but the primary downloads that are released do not appear to do any of this. And nowhere does it state this or inform people. This seems like an extreme misrepresentation of what TorCoin is actually doing.

The best campaign i have ever rolled in!! I believe that with this coin will make huge profit!!

Some of the altcoins have given as much as 20x profit during the last 60 days time period. Let's wait patiently. I hope that TOR will give us great profits. As of now, I am not converting any of my TOR coins to BTC.

Don't all (most) of the wallets and miners give out false positives? I didn't get the qt wallet and I probably never will (this goes for any coin).

I'm not sure if it really is a false positive, but I think all of you have already forgotten that I was the one that submitted the false positive report to ESET. After they cleared it, it was my first time installing TorCoin. For some reason you keep calling me a FUDDER but I was initially trying to help TorCoin.

I still think it's a scam. After I installed TorCoin I found the following. I'm just trying to let all of you know that the TorCoin claims are false. The client does not use the Tor network. Why would they say something that isn't true? They are knowingly lying to all of us. Think about that for a moment.

Quote from: SysFailure0x5a
TorCoin is not anonymous like you think it is.

I ran some packet captures against the Windows TorCoin client using Wireshark and found the following:

* Clear public NON-Tor DNS traffic asking for http://seed.torcoincoin.com
* Clear public IRC traffic to irc.lfnet.org and irc.smutfairy.com
* Does NOT connect to The Tor Network.

Here is a screenshot of the IRC traffic:
https://i.imgur.com/p5km1aG.png

You can download the Wireshark packet captures here so that you can see for yourself:

I'm not sure because I did not test to see if it generates the files that CoinStealer generates. I have faith that it's clean because I trust ESET but I'm not sure because I did not look to see for myself.

TheTorCoin keeps calling me a FUDDER, even though he admitted to exactly what I was saying. TorCoin client does not connect to Tor. It's a fact.
