Back reading this thread is pretty cool, on page 16, haha.

In the mean time I have a question. Can I get away with 4gb of ram on a mining rig?

Asus z270ar
i3 6100
(2) Asus FE 1080ti
Evga GC 850

Or would 8gb be prefered?

@ Xleejohnx

I'm answering late to you message, sorry about it.
I'm trying to do it but I have few questions.

claymore ethman comes with a sample.bat file you use it to look like this

Code:
@ECHO OFF
Powershell.exe -executionpolicy remotesigned -File  C:\minerTxt.ps1

then the powershell script needs to look like this

Code:
#Variables
$email = "myTower.local@gmail.com"
$phone = "8508491985@txt.att.net"

$ProcessActive = Get-Process dsNetworkConnect -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
if($ProcessActive -eq $null)
{

$EmailFrom = $email
$EmailTo = $phone
$Subject = "Claymore Miner down"
$Body = "Check Miners!!"
$SMTPServer = "smtp.gmail.com"
$SMTPClient = New-Object Net.Mail.SmtpClient($SmtpServer, 587)
$SMTPClient.EnableSsl = $true
$SMTPClient.Credentials = New-Object System.Net.NetworkCredential("myTower.local", "Passwordgoeshere");
$SMTPClient.Send($EmailFrom, $EmailTo, $Subject, $Body)
}

-So I just copy paste
Code:
@ECHO OFF
Powershell.exe -executionpolicy remotesigned -File  C:\minerTxt.ps1
in the sample.bat ? do I have to change the name of the file ?

-what is the "C:\minerTxt.ps1" ? is that a txt file I have to create and just copy paste that inside:
Code:
#Variables
$email = "myTower.local@gmail.com"
$phone = "8508491985@txt.att.net"

$ProcessActive = Get-Process dsNetworkConnect -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
if($ProcessActive -eq $null)
{

$EmailFrom = $email
$EmailTo = $phone
$Subject = "Claymore Miner down"
$Body = "Check Miners!!"
$SMTPServer = "smtp.gmail.com"
$SMTPClient = New-Object Net.Mail.SmtpClient($SmtpServer, 587)
$SMTPClient.EnableSsl = $true
$SMTPClient.Credentials = New-Object System.Net.NetworkCredential("myTower.local", "Passwordgoeshere");
$SMTPClient.Send($EmailFrom, $EmailTo, $Subject, $Body)
}
updated with my mail informations of course

Sorry but never went in this kind of things before.

the c:\minertext.ps1 is the location to the file you need to make in powershell and yes just copy and paste those lines in powershell and change the info

I use 4GB of RAM in all of my rigs.  I do bump up virtual memory to at least 16GB though.

Not sure about the 1070's but here's what I get with the Aorus 1080ti (just tested to see how far it can go).

So, 80% tdp -100 core +1000 memory (max) gives 39.5 mh/s (however after a few minutes CPU starts to overload with high usage from afterburner. If I close it I'm left with the System process  hogging the CPU (a cheap celeron skylake). +600 memory gives 36 mh/s and no CPU overload.

Wonder where the problem is. Too weak CPU?

try

 0 core

+800 ram

even though eth like ram more then anything

it needs some core.

if core is too low it limits the max hash

what  miner  claymore?

if claymore try -ethi 16 in the bat.

I will  try a  rig with a better cpu.  to see if I can create your problem

I am doing 2 msi aero 1080 ti  at

75% tdp
174 core
860 ram
75% fan

and getting 38.5  on claymore  with a -ethi 16 setting

using an intel i3 6100t

and cpu usage is 9%

I now bumped to 975 ram

and cpu usage is now 24%

so I would say using a shit cpu is your issue  note i did this on win7

more testing  weaker cpu and high ram clock = no go.

the better the cpu  the closer to high ram clock , but in my case  it seems that stable memory max is about 860  even with a i3 6100t gives me 38.5 mh.

but at 600  memory and a core of 58% it gives me 36.2

Must be the CPU then.
-ethi is already set to 16.
Your results are similar to what I'm getting.

Was just testing it out. Back to LBC for now.
Thanks for looking into it.

If anyone was wanting to know about the Ryzen 7 1700, i ran it all night on nicehash while gpu mining.. it mines between 338-341h/s, i dont think that nicehash is optimized to use all the core and threads.. im only see load on the first 4

Thanks a lot

The best I've found...

1070 - $319
1080 - $419
1080ti - $639

Depending on where you live you'll have sales tax on those as well.

Due to demand it's pretty much impossible to hit those prices right now though Sad

Check out your local areas Craigslist, I have gotten 1070's at $300, 1080's at $380, and 1080Ti's at $600

Does anyone know a good trusted company for mining hosting that takes GPU miners?

I would rent a colo. Put everything in a 4U server case and rack mount it. You get your own locked cabinet and everything.
I'm not sure I would trust someone to put my rig in their warehouse.

to follow up on the off topic blower fan setup I had in my garage, (no pics sorry) - here it is.  It was a sweet, sweet setup, mounted on the ceiling and exhausting outside.  Problem was, the thing was quite noisy and mostly had a pretty large vibration to it.  even building a box around didnt help much.  On the negative side, although the airflow was pretty good, I didnt see much difference in temp vs my current setup (still a powerful fan in the window exhausting and plenty of air intake), so i'm going to return the whole thing.  sometimes things arent as good as you think they are.  anyways I would recommend building the rigs in boxes/crates, and then hooking them up to ducts with this type of fan to exhaust.  it will work very well.

well i received my 2 yesterday along with 2 more gigabyte cards i scored a deal on and they are the weakest so far on the hashrates even with overclocking, the most i could get out of them is 1674Mh/s on skein, 12.4G/s on Blake, and 1120sols/s on zec so far.. they seem to be holding temps pretty well.. but do have a lot of room for overclock compared to my other cards.. just comparisons, my pair of gigabytes output 1775MH/s on skein, 13.2G/s on blake, and 1222sols/s on zec... im still messing with as i just got them up and running today and only spent an hour playign with settings im sure i can adjust more to get out of them, but that was hashrates on crude settings up tell freezing/locking up conditions..i will say this tho.. they seem to run about 4-5c colder than the gigabyte cards....
