correction:

LOL

its not "angry bird" but "angry chicken"

its not 1070s but 580

nevertheless.... 11 x GPUs is a quite a feat

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPGxVUaSdvc

today has been a horrid day for me mining Sad .......
But i did get this beauty in the mail finally after over 30 days of waiting.....

I ordered one like that a few weeks ago.

post results soon when you get it going.

I saw angrybirds's build: 11 x 1070s, 7+2xM2 with 2 splitters = 11 GPUs working with 2 x PSUs

I decided to go density with the 1070s because its draws so little power, 6 x GPU at 660w@25MH ETH, even at 12 x GPU under 1300w is amazing.

Do you have the link to angrybird's build? Would like to see that  Wink

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

I read somewhere this splitters are suppose to work only with AMD cards. What do you plan to run at them?

I'm going to test using them with gtx1080tis at first then possibly some gtx1060s, I was told you can only get 4 running on x16 slots only and 2 on x8 and x4 slots....still need to play with this.....

If I can get this running, my next step is to test it on micro workstations....you can pickup refurbished dell/hp micro workstations with 1 x16 and 2 x1slots for $75-100....allowing the use of 6 gpu.

Then this would allow me to further expand on my current dell workstations I'm using, which have 2 x16, and 2 x1 slots, would possibly allow me to run 8-10 gpu off these refurbished computers I'm using

Storx, can you let me know the markings on the main chip for your splitter?  Assuming they didn't sandpaper it off.

Im curious as to what chip they are using on that model.

I plan to be getting together with my father who is a hardware engineer; to design a project Wink

im currently up at the hospital visiting family, ill check when i get home.....

Here is my current miner batch im running on my 2 card rig at home currently testing it out, it is switching between equihash and other algo's perfectly adjusting the OC and UV settings like butter... only complaint i have so far is the auto fan mode built into the cards is terrible to adjust... right now i just have a manual fan controller software running in background with custom curve tell i figure it out in the near future.......

IF YOU USE THIS BATCH FILE, THE OVERCLOCKING IS THE SETTINGS I RUN, PLEASE START LOW AND ADJUST TO YOUR DESIRE, I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE

Awesome... yeah... actually, you can set your gpu fan % manually via the commandline...

Code:
...\nvidiainspector\nvidiaInspector.exe -setFanSpeed:0,80
Set fan speed on card 0 to 80%

i know i can set it manually to a set %, but i find i use less power and get the BETTER hashrates by just running a custom curve and leaving it on auto... during the day the fan speed runs high to maintain lower temps, but at night my hashrates average nearly 10% more due to the cooler air during the night making the GPU's not have to work so hard to maintain temps and not throttle as much...  idk just seems to be working out better for me...

I am running in the 60%  area  for now and in the fall I will clock higher.

also remember  my summer power is 16.7 + say 2.3 for ac costs.  so 19 cents

my winter power is 12.7 - say 3 cents for free heat so  9.7 cents.

so OCT 1 my power bill is dropped 45- 50%  until June 1 next year.

Is it dry enough where you're at for evaporative cooling to work?

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

nah it is not that I can't do some cooling I just never bothered to because the summer  power price does the jump from 12.7 to 16.7.

this is the first time in year I can do some in-house mining in the summer.

I do have a lot of gear at the solar array.

as long as I keep the amps at 10  x 240 volts = 2400 watts most of the heat just  stays in the garage.  So far the hottest day has been is 95/96  and the garage was 97.

rest of the house was 77-81

first summer  bill was okay. 700  but the gear made 3300 .  I would take that for the summer.

I am going to reduce in house foot print a little more.   pulling 4 1080 ti's out.  and bringing 1 in.  that is about 400 less watts.

i got two cheap psu (surplus) manufactured by hynix for unknown brands....bought these at 20$ and 24$ each

psu1 has 12 volt1 18A, 12 volt2  18A, 12 volt3 30A

psu2 has 12 volt1 40A,  12 volt2 25A

these psu are 3 inches longer and heavier than seasonic 1250w psus and i cant find them in the internet...gonna power some old gpu that I have first (that ROI'd several times) Grin

I don't know where these have been used, It seems heavy duty and psu2 have a label where it says "heater" for a 12v modular cable socket.

I think these have been used in some commercial/server application, they can power (compatible) a typical atx desktop board with sata and molex cables...the problem is there are no pcie connection, the modular cables are compatible only to 12v 4pin and 2+2pin motherboard, so i'm going to use some extra pcie cables here to tap/solder on the 12v rails of these psu.

cables are 18 awg compared to seasonic 16awg, but 18 awg is good enough since technically they are rated at 750-800w

I have a 550W PSU and I want to power 1 or 2 more cards with it on a rig that already has a PSU powering a card.

The PSU has three +12V all at 18A each for a total of 470W.  So each one can really only draw 156W correct?  As 1080ti's take 2 connectors and I made sure they were on different wires do individual cables ever need to draw more than 150W?  How is it devided between the 8 pin and the 6 pin connector?  At 100% tpd they card draws 250W.  If it draws more from the 8 pin It could be risky?  Also PSU's don't aways output max what they say.  I plan to run it at 60-80 TPD so it is likely to work but is it just too risky?  Is going to take a like three weeks before I can get hold of any plat PSU's  I suppose I could settle for a Gold.

yeah it could work but  you need to know exactly how the cable matches the rails.

1 rail may not work on the pcie cables  it may go to the mobo in the cpu cable and the 24 pin cable.

so you may have 2 rails one for one cable one for the other.

I need the exact make and model  I may be able to tell you how to hook it up.

plan to run at 60 not 80

you are using a riser correct?

I am running in the 60%  area  for now and in the fall I will clock higher.

also remember  my summer power is 16.7 + say 2.3 for ac costs.  so 19 cents

my winter power is 12.7 - say 3 cents for free heat so  9.7 cents.

so OCT 1 my power bill is dropped 45- 50%  until June 1 next year.

Is it dry enough where you're at for evaporative cooling to work?

nah it is not that I can't do some cooling I just never bothered to because the summer  power price does the jump from 12.7 to 16.7.

this is the first time in year I can do some in-house mining in the summer.

Oh man, i feel so bad for you, at least here in California we're lucky, my prices don't jump at all, I just pay the low low rate of $0.32. Hooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

what part  you in?

I lived in LA , San Diego, and San Francisco   while I was in the US Navy.

32 cents is brutal

I'm in LA - did a bit of joint tasks w/squids - a proud bunch u are lol. One of my buddies the poor bastard is still in, stationed down in Coronado. Set to retire this year, I think he only made it to E7 but still - free paycheck coming has got to be nice.

Thanks man appreciate all the advice I will get around to figuring out how give you a donation sometime in the next few days.    They are old PSUs ac bel pc7014,  I googled it but nothing came up so prolly easier just to let it go.

I plan to use risers when they come.  Right now I am just recycling old motherboards from past gaming machines I never bothered to sell, surpisingly all my old MB's have 3 or 4 PCI-e x1 slots.

Ok backup plan.  If I get two open air rigs right next to each other and the I use this old PSU just to power the motherboard etc and I have a 1050W PSU powering another rig and two 1080ti's.  Could I use power from that PSU to power the cards?  Just means I would would have to power up and down both rigs at the same time but its just a stop gap measure until my parts arrive on snail mail.   I already have the two new 1080ti's just cant find a PSU.

Or I actually have 2 560W psu's I could run both motherboards off them and use the 1050W PSU just for the video cards.  I dunno if this is possible though.

if you have an old gpu like like 280x and 7970 try it first on them..that psu on a 1080 ti...that's brave.

yeah PSUs got scarce just like GPUs

just want to share what i got here scavenging  Cheesy

here are some good psu's decent price

four pcie cables  each has 2x 8 pin plugs

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-Quark-Series-850W-80-PLUS-Platinum-Full-Modular-Power-Supply-/172183274675?

I use them a lot. 2 of them do a six card rig with ease

Hey bud, i looked over the chips.. it seems that all the markings have been removed and some have what appears to be black epoxy on them painted..

I do have some old cards that are pretty much useless I can test with but what exactly am I testing?  I know they work and the PSU's work.   I am just trying to figure out a solution.
