Interesting idea, Plazma. However, i don't really trust Avalon can deliver in October.. anymore.
In other news, chips will be refunded from both batches. Only chips at the moment. Whoever wants to stay in, reinvest in something else, is welcome to stay. Whoever wants out, will be refunded.
More news in the morning, i've got several pages of math to do. I hate to keep you in the dark, but i still need my numbers right.

Gen2 is not pre order.

100% agree. I would like the chip cost of my order refunded, and would be very interested to know if gen-2 chips can be used with the k16 to produce some sort of value (at this point, that would need to be about 1-1.5 Ghash per chip). Im still hoping avalon may offer free upgrade of gen1 chips to gen2 chips

Take your time with the numbers, so that both yourself and us (customers) can get the most out of avalon's mistake.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

I assumed that the refund included all batches?

Great news! Waiting for the details of next investment.

Let's hope it doesn't include Avalon. At this point I have about as much faith in BFL as Bitsyncom.

I think we need to use the refunded BTCBTCBTC to purchase gen2 chips in 6 weeks.  After all, we have already been waiting 4 months.

Avalon pulled a real dick move, but I've got my money to worry about.

Avalon did the right think refunding gen1 chips instead of shipping them and setting pre-order for gen2 ( or start selling gen 2 from stock like few weeks after gen1 are shipped for same price )

The only way I can imagine buying whatever gen of whatever products from Avalon now is escrow which releases the coins only after a valid  tracking number is provided.

+1 that would instill far more confidence.

completely backward compatible in every way

I do wonder what this is going to look like. If they want to be fully backwards compatible they can't add additional hashing units, that would require a protocol update.
Perhaps they can leverage a higher frequency at the same power use of the gen1 chip.
Or lower power use for the same performance could be interresting for those sensitive to electricity prices.
Also a smaller chip means more chips from a wafer, thus resulting in a cheaper chip. Presuming 55nm isn't four times more expensive then 110nm.
The chips are by far the most expensive components in a miner, making them cheaper could make the whole miner cheaper by a significant factor.

I still want the gen1 chips I ordered. I'll just get the gen2 ones for a new miner.

I think he means to say completely PIN compatible. A protocol update may or may not be needed. If there is a set of hashing units on chip. They may have multiplexed them and added a queue so you can just keep feeding it work units. Like the bitfury chips

That may not be possible.  I think all the components have been purchased already.

me to.

Also who actually holds the batch 2 order, I would like them sent to marto, seems silly to have them sent to t13 to send them on again.

Hope you GB leaders are discussing this.

Maybe best for a thread on the multi group for people to state there required recipient.
