Personally I think the decoy password is a good idea, if implemented well. People assume this would only be useful for criminals against authorities, but it would also be useful against robberies. Granted this may not be much of an issue now, but once Cryptos become common  place, its entirely feasible that criminals may attempt to coerce their victims into handing over their coins. Especially with wallets on smartphone, crypto muggings could become a thing. Point is though that it could be a useful privacy/security feature and it nots the developers job to make moral judgements about its possible uses.

You are assuming that an adversary would not know or is not aware of this cockamamie feature that transfers the bulk of the funds to another wallet after using the cockamamie decoy password...and then:

Somehow I don't know what to say. According to your comics

- every security-feature seems rather useless
- someone who wants to get into your accounts knows were you live and have no problem to hurt you

I'd just say I doubt that the "standard" hacker wants to come to your house and beat you to get your wallet-password  Grin

Nobody is saying that total security is possible. Nobody is saying that the feature will be implemented in the next wallet... chill out and let the kids have fun ...  Wink

Yes. Every security feature is not 100% foolproof especially by itself. That's a fact. Do you really believe it is?

It has to be used in conjunction with other security measures (multi layer) to increase overall reliability. To begin with, do not advertise or flaunt your enormous hodlings or stash. Keep it to yourself. Otherwise, you and the people you care about will have that bullseye target on your backs.

Have you ever heard of the time-tested cold/paper wallets? You should really look into it as it is more practical and much safer than the cockamamie proposal. For one thing, it doesn't put all your eggs in one basket (device) which are only separated by a cockamamie fake/decoy password. Really? Why would you wanna carry your stash around with you on the same device that you use for your day-to-day spending wallet?

You folks are already counting your chickens before they hatch...or putting the cart before the horse. Sumo hasn't even started to make its mark yet but here you are, already having delusions of grandeur. The devs' precious time must be utilized to develop the more fundamental implementations (mobile/cold wallets, APIs, protocol improvement, updates, maintenance, etc.) to promote mass adoption and practical usage (i.e. as currency).

If you folks really have the hots for developing a wallet with such cockamamie features, then perhaps you wanna look into developing it yourselves. Perhaps you should collaborate with the geek at Ledger who implemented a similar feature. This way, we have more options to choose from. This is what exactly happened in the BTC space -- the proliferation of a variety of wallets. They didn't rely on the devs to develop it because they know that they have more immediate, daunting and never-ending task ahead of them as I just stated. Go for it! Make your wallet to your liking. People will either embrace it or they won't. Otherwise, give the devs some space so they could concentrate on the fundamental objectives...and not some cockamamie wallet feature.

And if the kids just wanna have fun, let them head over to a gaming forum...or head to the nearest community playground with Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" blaring in the background.

Are there ongoing negotiations with bigger exchanges like Bittrex oder Poloniex?

Visdude, why are you being so hostile? We were discussing possible features, no one is demanding this feature be implemented, we are just brainstorming, relax. There's nothing "cockamamie" about it, sure its not a killer feature or even likely to be used often, but that doesn't make it "cockamamie". And as for your claim that the adversary will just beat you until you give up the real password, well by then your coins would be transferred elsewhere since you gave them the decoy password first. So you can give them the real password and they will find it empty. In this hypothetical scenario, they could continue torturing you etc, so its not full proof but would potentially trick most adversaries. Also no one said anything about having your whole stash on a mobile wallet, that would be stupid. I appreciate your feedback and agree its not the most practical idea, but its not unreasonable either. All I ask is that you please don't be so hostile, we are trying to foster a community here.

Edit: its irrelevant anyways since on page 57 billaue said they don't plan to implement this, which is fine

Oy vey! It's starting to feel like amateur hour in here. Not only that, the prevailing oversensitivity/persecution complex in here feels like I'm in an episode of "Daily Affirmations With Stuart Smalley".

I've been following and reading this forum for quite some time...

Are any of these tech debates from anybody actually IN the dev team?

Wouldn't it be nice if we kept it classy and waited for the devs to do their work and trade/hodl based on that?

VOTING FOR NEW SUMOKOIN ICON

Uncomfortable voting form. A lot of unnecessary action.. I like the "The Coin" style, it.. Classic. White to orange. And a little "friend".

I don't see any problems with premine. Devs also need to live man. Even ETH has large amount of premined coins. For Ripple, 100% coins are premined.

For Sumo, most of the premined coins are locked so what is the big deal?

Coin failed by many reasons, more then often due to lack of developments, no ads or no innovations for long time, hardly due to premine as my observation

Many projects failed because there was no funding, and the developers did not have the means to continue. So they have to look for new paid work in real life.

This is a false problem.

If the development is very good, the community is good, and the strategy is relevant, I do not worry about this project.

Look at the number of projects that have set up pay for developers. Either it is premine, or it is masternodes with part of the financing for development.

And, in the beginning, the creators of bitcoin were able to mine full of bitcoin quietly while nobody knew! Is it premine? Is the million bitcoin of satoshi a premine?
