Monoprice.com is significantly cheaper.

You just bought a $230 device and you are worried about saving a few bucks on a cable?  Smiley

Well Amazon's cheapest non-add-on cable I saw was $5.49, and the cheapest add-on was $3.89, which works to either $109.80 or $77.80.  I wouldn't say I was 'worried about saving a few bucks', but at the same time I don't see a good reason to throw away $50 on the same order at the same shipping speed.  Call me crazy!  Actually that's probably not a bad assumption, given the fact that I'm part of a group buy that has no reasonable expectation of ROI this year. This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NGQWL2/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Anker makes good stuff so I trust them when they say this will support 4A, so it should run up to 8 units per.  USB 3.0 is overkill but I expect I'll get some different use out of it someday, and there didn't seem to be a cheaper USB 2 alternative w/high power anyways.

i'm also looking at this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eecf/?srp=4

also says 4 amps, and i wasn't sure on the math... so i guess that too would be 8 units. oi...

I bought this

https://www.bitcoinstore.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=DUB-1340

900 mA per port and usb 3.0

and this

https://www.bitcoinstore.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=+DUB-H7+

the 2 fast charge ports can handle 1.2 amps per port so the powersupply must be beefy

and I bought with magical internet monies!!!!

Isn't the Eruptor advertised to consume slightly more than .5A?  Should you maybe put 7 units per to give headroom?  Or will it just underpower it a little and drop hashing?

OH that one looks nice... I like it for the space on the usb and that it is 3.0.... bitcoinstore don't have it though ... and already sent my BTC for the other 2.. oh well... only getting 3 of the 5 I bought so 2 going on the usb 2.0 on my other box and 1 on the 3.0 on my main rig... I will survive... lemme know how that Anker Uspeed one is though might purchase it later.

Your probably right I wouldn't put 8 on it being that close even if they say .5 A basic electronics never are right on the money so some will be .480 and some will be .51 so your right only put 7 on there or you might burn up your powersupply.

Actually, it's 12V@4A.  USB is 5V.  It's best to measure power (Watts) in this case.  12V@4A provides the hub with 48W of power.  Each Block Erupter stick consumes 2.55W, or 25.5W for 10 sticks.  That's well within spec for the hub.

But don't take my order for it, the product description lists the limits:

Quote
For maximum performance, connected devices should not exceed a combined current of 7A. Otherwise, output current may become unstable or disconnect entirely.

10 sticks will only draw 5.1Amps at the ports.

That said, anything could happen when the metal hits the electrons, so time will tell.

Thank you, just got to work, but I will verify tonight when I get home that the funds are in my wallet, and then let Arklan know to switch some shipping addresses around.

Thanks for a smooth trade!

Arklan, I can confirm that payment has come through for 6 out of my 7 units.  If Mdude77 wants to PM you his address that will be fine to change the shipping of 6 units to him.  As of now, he wants the 7th unit and plans to pay for it by next week, when that time comes I will go ahead and transfer shipping of the 7th unit to him.

Thanks

I've got the money for the 7th now if you're still interested in selling.
