I don't think there's any need to worry about. Bitcoin is still in it's infancy and all these changes being made to it will only further it's growth and make it better. This is all being done to improve the bitcoin and to bring out the best in it. All we need is to stay positive and don't panic or create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. Bitcoin has already survived such things before and it will survive this one too.

Well sort of.  Because I really have no idea what will going to happen.  As a matter of fact, I am thinking of withdrawing my hard earned bitcoin for safety reasons. Grin  I cannot still understand why they need to do that.  Bitcoin is pretty fine and almost perfect.  What is the need to do that.

The need of segwit is that the transaction backlog has been increased tremendously and we need bigger blocks to confirm all the transactions.
And if no action is taken then bitcoin might not be able to survive when there will be a mass adaption.

We are already in July and August 1 is coming...the day when Segwit would start signalling for all and what will happen after this date is something many fear of. Will there be a split and what will happen on the split?

I have already read some assurance that at the current rate things are doing, the possibility for a split is getting remote. Maybe the overarching interest of all stakeholders has already dawned to many.
This is very simple thing , you should think that lot of amount of the Bitcoin are hold by the owner of the Bitcoin , so what will happ if the network of the blockchain will face problem , I mean we don't need to worry much about this , and instead of this some preacuation should be taken by us .
1) Before 1 August transfer your all Bitcoin at the blockchain wallet .
2) If you have Bitcoin then transfer only Bitcoin to your address of blockchain also  .
3) don't make transaction like things from any of the Bitcoin wallet .
4) Make backup of your wallet of the blockchain before the 1 August  .
If you will do these things , then I don't think that you need to worry anything ways , because you are in official ways and platform and nothing is problem in the official wallets Wink

How will these steps be impacted if you have coins in exchanges on August 1st? Is it a good idea to move them out in advance?

I am sure we have nothing to fear about August 1st. Instead celebrate that day because bitcoin will be equipped with a better technology and will certainly get a boost from the stakeholders all across the world. I am sure the current price of bitcoin will increase before August 1st with the good hope.

Start buying bitcoins before that date as the price will be skyrocketing after that date and I am sure you don't want to regret. Bit was always the boss of crypto currencies and will remain as a boss always. So never loose your trust on bitcoin and you will be rewarded suitably.

I think many times so far we had similar situations when we were all expecting some very important days/happenings for Bitcoin but at the end nothing revolutionary didn't happen. So I think the similar will be after 1 August too and don't fear that day. Anyway, after 1 August nothing bad will happen for Bitcoin and the users.

For me I don't need to be afraid for August 1 because I am holding my bitcoin for long term. I'll just watch those who have weak hands make panic selling if in case bitcoin price will dump and maybe buy more btc.

I am still a bit uncertain about it, but I am looking forward to it and hope this can improve Bitcoin. As others have said, it is important to keep your coins safe, especially not in online wallets like Blockchain and CoinBase.

I've already made the switch to a desktop wallet, so now I'm just waiting for the day to come!
I just switch to a hardware wallet and I'm very happy with it.

All of it was just FUD to shake newbies and weak hands. Do not be affected by it but just to be secure, move your funds away from online wallets into wallets that you control private keys. Secure your funds and you will be okay on August 1.

I think too many people are afraid of this date, when it comes and goes and nothing bad happens to bitcoin surely the price will shoot up.

There is no shame to admit it, I am afraid 😨 I indeed am, all the time that I have spend saving these coins, all the work I took would go to waste, all the dreams that I plan to achieve from bitcoins would go down the drain. I don't know what will happen, I only hope that a positive result comes out for Bitcoins, that's all I wish, I don't know if being afraid will help but that's all I am at this stage.

Not really afraid since it will happen inevitably anyways. No one should be afraid of the possible changes by August 1 since it will be for the development of bitcoin itself too, price wise it is only a short term effect but if you are holding for the long term then why bother? Aside from that, any changes by then could address the issue about the tx fees (finally)

I'm actually thinking about moving all my bitcoins to altcoins so I can have a peace of mind. Lol. It's still a month from now and it's already bugging me alot. I think it will either crash hard or rise hard. Not sure though, since segwit2x is on the lead. But I think I'll play it safe for now.

worst idea ever, the altcoin are so unstale that it's very likely you will lose a big portion of your bitcoin

what might happen at worse is that at first some panic selling can tank the value and then you have the usual recover and another bubble

Moving all bitcoins to altcoins is probably not a good idea, but splitting your investments on many altcoins (including bitcoin) is a good strategy in my opinion. Bitcoin is more stable than other altcoins but some of them will be successful I believe...

Not scared! No cause for alarm... just sitting back, relaxing my mind and watching out for the best. I still wonder why a lot of people are still scared unless they ain't informed... Whatever it is, the future is bright! The most important thing which I have done is being in control of my private keys which I believe anyone should do rather than getting scared just in case!

Everyone who is afraid of BTC on 1 August because no one can't be sure in the future of cryptocurrency, but everyone hopes for a long-term investment. I think this is not logical. I am not worried about what will happen on 1 August. Because for me BTC is money that I spend on purchasing things I need and I do not have a large number of coins.

it is good to be worried but we shouldn't let the FUDsters use this worrying to their own advantage. it is like always, if you have forgotten the first rule of not investing more than you can afford to lose then sell until you reach an affordable level. and then move all your bitcoins to cold storage and don't worry about a thing.

to the moon with bitcoin...

The market is not anymore afraid of the August 1 thing and this is not anymore reflected in the current value of the cryptocurrency though there was that technical correction days ago. The feeling right now is that all Bitcoin stakeholders are already looking for that day and beyond when finally the long-debated problems can already be given remedies if not ultimate solutions.

The future of the cryptocurrency remains to be with the certified King of the Hill and all the other coins are still considered as alternatives (well, even Ethereum for that matter). Bitcoin as the first and the original will always be the leader until such time that we, the people, will stop using and buying Bitcoin since it is all about market, anyway.

Come what may, Bitcoin is Bitcoin and it will finally be soaring and roaring days from now.

Are you afraid of the future? becuse this is the type of stuff that shape the future.

Segwit should improve bitcoin,

An improved bitcoin, will push altcoins/crypto market (as bitcoin is the ticket for entering the altcoin world).

I assume that Segwit effect will lead the way of $200B market place for the winter.

So Bitcoin will rise up with Segwit, Ethereum will rise up with PoS, other good altcoins improving as we speak..

Good days ahead of us Smiley

It will split Bitcoin as far as I know so why should there be the need to split when all of them will grow anyway. The exchanges such as bitfinex had already splitted them long before it happen. Have you seen the price of BCU, BCC and BTC on them? I hate the idea but they're on to it already so we'll see.
