@rednow, what are the default values with your mod? Can you share an overdriventool screenshot too Smiley ?
My reg-file mod is based on vega54 liquid bios.
Only changes are to set "greyed" low power state voltages to 900mV (905 or 910 if you are a silicon lottery loser) and increase SoC clock to 1200.
All other settings are done in OverdriveNtool as I wrote before.
I didn't touch gpu or mem clocks in power play at all.

thanks.

Do you happen to know whats the difference between these two bios versions? :

Sapphire    RX Vega 64 8 GB    2017-07-19 16:44:00    016.001.001.000.008706    PCI-E    1630 / 945    HBM2    Download | Details
Sapphire    RX Vega 64 8 GB    2017-07-28 15:57:00    016.001.001.000.008730    PCI-E    1630 / 945    HBM2    Download | Details

P.S. Wondering if I picked the proper bios when upgrading the two 56s ... after reducing mem to 1080 on all 3 56s, I still get ~10 GPU compute errors per hour Sad

How are you guys getting sub 50C temps hashing 2k on Vega 56s?  Are you blowing freezing air on them or something?  I'm at 68-70C doing 2k at room temperature and with a 120mm 5 fan array cooling.

I am using the Raijintech Morpheus II coolers.  I will say this about Vega thermal grease after cracking 9 of them apart.  Only one seemed to have good, fresh thermal grease. The other 8, which were brand new, had dried crappy looking thermal grease; sometimes it was applied quite thick, sometimes it was very thin and did not quite cover the GPU/HBCC.

This is very different from when I was opening up RX 480s.  The thermal grease was uniformly very good across every batch that I opened.

I suspect that some of the different experiences are related to sub-part thermal grease, or how it was applied.  But taking apart the Vega is not completely simple.  PM if interested.

And it is cold here in NY, which helps.

You can find that in about every page of this thread...  Roll Eyes Put ~2000h/s @ ~150W per card to whattomine.com, income variates a lot.

When i disable my new Vega 56 and re-enable in device manager, it cannot recover to OK state. Instead an error is shown, the device is not working properly, sometimes even BSOD. When i restart PC, the GPU is working OK again.

Tried reinstalling blockchain drivers with DDU, switching risers, cables, but did not help. Do you have any idea why this is happening? (i need to do the disable/enable process for monero mining)
You have a bad GPU. Took me days to figure it out. Get it replaced.

2 out of 10 seems too much. There has to be some trick.

Took a look at your reg file and the offsets are completely different from what most are using. On my  Vega64 it works like a charm with the SoC overclock while still keeping VDDC under 950mv, never seen that before  Smiley

On my vega56's flashed to 64 bioses it doesnt work at all. The offsets are all wrong and they will immediately crash at any Mhz/VDDC combination. Interesting, it's the exact same bios but they still act differently  Roll Eyes

Can anyone post working and optimized Vega 56 softpp mod for Monero mining? There is a lot mods on the internet, but most of them are not well optimized.

Is it worth flashing Vega 56 to 64 bios or not? I can pull up to 1970 h/s on some cards with 56 bios. How much can i gain with flashing?

Still hates it. The vega 64 works fine with air bios.

vega's warranties are the best. 3-5 yrs on any gpu.

Vega doesn't have warranties, its the company that makes them that sets the warranty.  Some companies have shit warranties, like powercolor only has a 2year warranty.

Im thinking of building a mining rig using 8x Vega 64. Power consumption is not a concern, all that matters is maximum performance.

Should I be getting the cards from Sapphire?

Its worth getting only the liquid edition. The brands dont matter, there are all the same cards under the hood and all the same hashrates. However on the MSI card box states that the card can last 10-12 years of heavy use due to superb capacitors, but I think that its the sam card and board from all the manufactures anyway.

Is it strange that I'm getting those results (2k hash rate, 70C temp) and my clocks are 1112/950 +50% power?

I haven't played with +power% but that would definitely increase the heat generated.  Did you flash a 56 to 64 BIOS and using the proper settings or just default 56 with cranked power?

Default 56 bios with cranked power (-30%/950 +50% power)

On stock vega 56s (stock bios), what are the best wattman settings without the reg edits?  I've been messing around with some of my cards and while some handle 950Mhz well, one of the cards can barely stay stable at 920.  Most of the other settings are all dynamic, but I'd like to change that.

Thanks.
