I have read in the news that that like bitcoin as virtual currencies are assets and does not have the characteristics or what it takes to be a currency that could meet our modern economic needs. It was said that it does not have the fundamental attributes. What are your thoughts about it?

For me bitcoin is just an asset, a useful valuable thing intended for investments because it cannot be use all over the world unlike our current currency or fiat in which poor people, old and children can use it in a very convenient way in which they will just go directly to a certain store and buy. We have to admit that we are keeping a lot of bitcoin so that we could have a lot of paper money because bitcoin is really an asset or part of our some investments.

Bitcoin is basically a currency, but it is also an asset since you can make huge earning by trading or holding this crypto currency.

But Bitcoin is created mainly to be a currency, and it is used worldwide online like using any other currency to sell/buy goods and services.

what do you mean by just an asset? any currency is an asset as long as you have the rights and obligation on it. You should look and search for the meaning of asset, clearly you do not know what it is.

Bitcoin according to four characteristics that define asset classes: investability, politico-economic features, correlation of returns or price independence, and risk-reward profile. Conclude not only that bitcoin is the first of its kind in a distinct asset class, but that the terms “cryptocurrency,” “virtual currency” or “digital currency” are misleading because they imply that such investments are a subset of the currency asset class. They propose other terms such as cryptomark, cryptobit, cryptostamp, ledgermark or consensobit. Additionally, they assert new terminology could help clarify currently disjointed regulations, in which the Commodity Future Trading Commission calls bitcoin a commodity.

It will depend upon the person using it.  Some uses it as an asset through investments, therefore they are using it as a tool to gain more returns.  While there others who are true believers of bitcoins vision that one day it will be used as a currency.  And it is indeed correct to claim that it can now be used as a currency since there is already a lot of transactions where you can use just like any other real world currency.

Bitcoin is more like gold than normal (fiat) currency. people can pay using bitcoin and they also invest in it. but it's not so good as a currency.
What makes bitcoin not suitable as currency bcause we can't do microtransaction in bitcoin. And i think in the future bitcoin is looked as an asset than currency because this matter.

bitcoin can indeed be a valuable asset for the person who owns it. and the future will be very helpful in investment although not a currency but can be a very high currency exchange

Now its recognized by many big's that we can use this as asset because now many exchanges and development going on for this but still if you are looking for long term investment then surely you have to check latest updates and keep eye on charts regularly because rate fluctuation can disturb you so if you are interested to keep this as asset then you must read all risks and other things about this

Bitcoin is a currency I don't know if you know it but Bitcoin is built for the purpose of being an online currency. And if you consider it as an asset it will be categorized as an liquid asset which is good as cash as you can covert it easily to Fiat currency without any problems. Like any other asset that has growth potential obviously Bitcoin can be considered as both a liquid asset and as an investment. In case you didn't know a currency is also an asset.

Bitcoin can be an asset because people can be stored in Bitcoin and Bitcoin is secured. Cold wallet makes Bitcoin storage relatively hassle-free. As a value of store Bitcoin is better than real asset. On the other hand Bitcoin is not only an asset but also can be a digital currency due to have transaction facilities. People now easily purchase from online through Bitcoin. So, Bitcoin is an asset besides a digital currency also.

Bitcoin is an asset because you can use it in able to make so much money. Personally for me Bitcoin is a aspect and a currency also. To explain to you, it is an asset if I store my money in it, and I expect it to appreciate. It is a currency for me cause I use it to buy and sell goods and services. So the answer to your question is what would you like it to be. People don't understand it is completely decentralised, strong, so it's the best, it's use depends on person to person. Bitcoin can help so many people to earn and get so much money.

Its true that it is not having any characteristic of currency but it is acting like one. It is having all the characteristic of currency virtually though it is not physical. We can trade it with services and goods, we can pay with it for fiat currency too. Bitcoin once come in physical form might get full attention if being characteristic fiat currency.
For me it can be considered as a currency, but a virtual currency i guess. Because bitcoin can also do what a real money can do. It can be use for payments, transactions involving money, through online. I myself made transactions where I used bitcoin as a payment because I don't have any money. Aside from being an asset i guess bitcoin can be qualified to be a currency

Bitcoin is both a currency and an asset. The term asset is use when referring to an investment you owned and many people thinking that bitcoin can give them profit that's why they invest and it is considered a currency since most of the freelancers like here in forum accepts and sends bitcoin as payments. But it is true that due to volatility it cannot meet economic needs of a nation.

Bitcoin is an asset but not just an asset but it can be classified too as a currency because as we can see now, many things have been bought with the use of bitcoin. If fiat money is used to buy things anywhere then bitcoin can be used to buy too, although not all can be bought at this moment.
