This is nothing more than just another altcoin. But, definitely take advantage of the free coins.

The only reason to consider BCC is if the bitcoin fork happening on 1st of August goes badly (which does not seem likely), BCC is only a contigency coin should there be a problem with btc after the fork. The most probable outcome is for bitcoin to hit ATH after a successful fork!

When fork happens and we get BCC it will immediately start dumping, So there is no way to get price like now because who will give their bitcoin for some shitty BCC.

EDIT: Forget what I just posted. I see what you're saying now. But I agree. There's no way the price will be what it is now.

Just for everyone's reference.

On 1 august the Bitcoin chain wil split.

If and only if you hold your private keys of your BTC, then you will have the following scenario:

1 BTC before split   ------- 1 BTC After Split
------- Also 1 BCC After Split

So now you have 2 Coins with each their own blockchain.

So if you spend 0.5 BTC from your original 1 BTC you will remain to have 0.5 BTC and 1 BCC

If you spend 1 BCC (sell it or trade or whatever) you will still have your 1 BTC .

I hope this makes it clear.

Enjoy your coins Smiley

It's a shame we won't be able to dump for the price of the futures now.
There will be a lot of sell presure when we are able to claim with private key.
Nobody trusts viabtc with sending them bitcoins

Yeah, that's just the point. I won't give my by BTC away to get 17% Bonus and maybe loose them all.
If I could sell my future BCC @0.17BTC each while still in hold of private key, I would instantly do it.

My advice is to stay calm and wait.

Those who wants to dump their BCC and the real FUDers and manipulators. They are trying to scare others into dumping, so they can buy BCC at a low price. FUDers always have a market manipulation agenda and hoping to make money by scaring others into making mistakes.

Again, my advice is to stay calm and wait.

Now, there is no free coins. If there is a split you get 1:1 of BTC:BCC. Nothing is free as the value of BTC will also split, unless new money comes in. Thus the value could be approx $2200:$400; $2000:$600; $1800:$800. All equals $2600. Due to the fork, we will now have 42 millions "BTC", 21m BTC and 21m BCC. Thus the concept of scarcity will be broken and could lead to irreparable damage and BTC itself could be dumped also.

You could end up making mistakes and selling BTC instead of BCC.

Again, my advice is to stay calm and wait.

The same ridiculous nativity also existed in BTU.
Yet another ALTCOIN is being produced, it is worth the value of Bitcoin.
Let's not let that happen this time.

+1

And
Store your BTC on a Trezor then you are sure you can easy access both.
Waiting and have patience is a good tip. But the best tip (imo) is to send all your BTC to your Trezor if you have one before August 1st.

This whole project just reeks of one giant scam by the creators to get rich quick and screw everyone else over, including the entire crypto world by destabilizing the market.

Watch out for these scammers.

What's the point of doing something like this other than to prey on the money of noobs and get them to buy an altcoin thinking its gonna replace bitcoin...

These people are devious, not 1 iota of trust to these ppl

I have created a poll to see how the community views the fork and the future of bitcoin. Please answer the poll so we can have a statistically significant number of responses.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2048167

I am trying to be fair on that poll and included as many answers as I could think of. I will keep the poll open until a couple of hours before the Aug 1st fork. Let's see if the wisdom of the forum is indicative of how it will turn out.

Thank you for participating.

I believe he meant get rid of mining farms/centralization.
No one wants centralization I guess, at least common people. And I mean mining or node centralization either way

Very clear.  Thank you for this.

I am using Electrum.  Can I send the coins directly from Electrum, or must I have the unofficial release installed?  This story came out today and Electrum is supporting BCC, but someone is pushing a different wallet release.
