Like i said before you are fighting a battle that you will lose, because you are wrong.

According to recent reports windows 7 still accounts for over a 40% share of windows based operating systems and when you consider that windows 10 was a free upgrade...

So do you care to explain why windows 10 needed to automatically upgrade people when they did not even wish to?  They must have had a really good product to need to force the upgrade on people huh?

Microsoft didn't automatically upgrade people it was a optional upgrade and many chose not to upgrade.

My point is not everyone wants the latest and greatest companies especially there is a good reason why software keeps backwards compatibility yes eventually things get dropped but this can happen over several releases to avoid breaking something.

What happens if BitcoinABC 0.17 has some crippling bug implemented that cannot be fixed easily or breaks something everyone had been force upgraded and the chain has forked so you cannot just re install version 0.16 it's much safer to implement new features or upgrades while keeping backwards compatibility therefore those that don't upgrade are still good and those that do can easily roll back to a earlier version until a fix has been pushed

Microsoft is upgrading to windows 11 from the 15th of May if you don't upgrade all your programs will stop working upgrade now without delay !!!

Backwards compatible allows everyone time to upgrade in there own time

in your example, if you won't upgrade to v11, your programs will not be compatible with their new versions, but they will keep working on their own, so you won't lose anything from existing functionality, but you'll be just left alone on your v10 island  Smiley But, it's likely there'll be more v10-ers, so you'll be compatible with quite a few others

Let me know if there is room on your planet.

That is what they told the public here on earth agree..

The facts are a different story however.  in fact the example I have shows a life and death example.  a non-profit group that only had contact to the world via sat phone.  They had only so much budget for data since all 100% donation based.  and they burned through a bunch of donations and were cut from the world at a time when they were being actively hunted by poachers in Africa all because their windows computer began automatically updating itself via the sat phone data link while they were out in the field one day.  they specifically did not have this auto update feature enabled. $1,100 usd later in data they found out the hard way tek is wrong again..

And if you think there is not a new version of 7 that auto updates that looks just like you old version 7 but is really 10 behind the gui then I have a really good deal on a freshly painted bridge you should PM me about.

That is because it downloaded it over a satlink which is very costly with very limited bandwidth windows 10 did automatically download but it didn't automatically install the end user had to tell it to install with many choosing not to which is what I said

Windows update by default is set to auto download updates

Your trying to get off point now the whole thing was that keeping backwards compatibility is a good thing because not everyone wants to upgrade and shouldn't be penalized for doing so

The analogy of BCH to gold is the value itself, and the comparison of BTC to gold is about BTC itself. They are essentially different from each other because of their visions.

As far as I understand, it should be fork 1: 1 to the price of bitcoin? But how is this possible? Not quite as it is understandable ... (

memo is really impressive, but it's still in its early (alpha) stage, so be careful of the bugs - additionally, they heavily rely on 0-conf, so it's pretty unstable at times

Finally you found the way how to become rich in short time of period I believe next time you should try with bigger amount around 50k BCH and after 2 days you will get shocked to see balance into your account. I'm waiting to hear more feedback but with bigger amount.

BCH has been working hard on the business's acceptance, and the audience can feel the strong vision of BCH in Roger, to abandon the radicalism, but to see that the community's core figures are affirmative in doing things.

In the near future, there will be more and more projects developing applications and services on BCH. Though these projects are relatively crude, they have the advantage of centralization, so they are very likely to bloom in the future.

Your trying to get off point now the whole thing was that keeping backwards compatibility is a good thing because not everyone wants to upgrade and shouldn't be penalized for doing so

pretty sure you are the one who is trying to get off point.  The original point is how soft forks force/ coerce upgrades on those who did not sign up for them.

So far the advancements to the argument show concerns over SF's forcing users to choose between an ever shrinking & aging version with the hope (trust) of backwards compatibility.   So in other words ~depending on the level of trust (trust) the users have in the makers of the new soft fork to actually keep their word when their is no incentive to so do.

What a travesty that someone able to think that backwards regarding proper economic incentive was working on bitcoin at one time and either unable to see the stupidity or actively planting this backwards thinking on purpose to destroy it.  So glad to see some break away today.

So under tek model of sf we should trust the people doing what we do not want them to do to have our best interests before their own?  And hope that they will support the thing they did not make for ever even though they make no money off it all while they make their own project/ product that directly competes???
