The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

A bit of offtopic here - did anyone here watched the film ZEN ?

A watched it a while ago but it can first to my mind - it's British film (3 series) with the main hero whose name is ZEN (Played by Rufus Sewell)

Please check this 30-second video and of course I recommend to watch the film in full.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLiWdHcj5hM

Actually, I think this might be use for marketing of ZenCash ) (I.e. part "My name is Zen") and why not to give some ZenCash to Rufus Sewell if he'll accept such present))

I just posted this video in offtopic on discord,  will watch reactions.. Grin

MedaR,

Thanks for the links to "Official Statements" [Quoted above...]..

NOTE:  The post below is a question I asked and your response to the question was more or less, "Wait on an official statement."  Do you have an "Official Statement," on the subject of MAINTAINING ASIC RESISTANCE,Sir?

Hi MedaR,

Maybe you've been asked this question before, not sure.  I did read back some pages but not all the way back.

Does the ZENCash development team have plans in the future to make alterations of any sort to Equihash Algorithm to MAINTAIN ASIC RESISTANCE?
Hi dmwardjr

Let me get an official statement, and i will update this post.

Sorry, this took me so long to answer this, but this topic is very sensitive and deserve deeper inner investigations and discussions. We are monitoring and evaluation next steps. We don't have an official statement at this moment.

Hey folks, great progress to see on the project, congrats.

Just a quick update regarding the "large TX problem": Currently there's a (small) problem regarding very large t->z transactions (and vice versa) which can make the actual daemon "stuck" in limbo while requesting work or submitting work. That means in just sits there for 5-10 seconds and does nothing until it has processed that very large transaction. This is especially negative or problematic for pools as as soon a block has been found, the pool MUST transmit it to the network as soon as possible or it'll get orphaned and the miners shares are lost.. Or if a block has been found, the daemon must send a notify to update the miners work so that they don't work on stale (old) work - this won't function correctly if the daemon is always lagging behind 5-10 seconds after each call.

Since this problem is known from ZEC/ZCL and other equihash coins, there are already fixes out there which simply include only a small amount of transactions into the mempool and thus lowering overall overhead for the daemon so it can focus on mining and actually doing what it should on a pool. The limit is actually limiting the number of inputs .. So for example if you send 10 coins and have 10 * 1 coin inputs, you have 10 inputs for this one transaction. The more inputs you have, the problematic is the transaction. Since about 14 days or a bit longer, lots of transactions with more than 70-80 or sometimes even >100 inputs are being sent across the network from exchanges to users or vice versa which lead to the problem that the daemon often got stuck processing those transactions and therefore resulting in lost hashes / shares for the miners as the blocks either won't get submitted at all or submitted too late resulting in orphans.

As a quick fix, that limit of inputs was then set to 50 which was a good compromise between performance and included transactions per block.

Unfortunately as a little side-effect it lead to some transactions "pile up" in the network as many transactions were over that limit. Once the pool included enough transactions, it simply let the remaining transactions sit in the mempool and would mine it within the next block..  At a certain point that "queue" was simply getting longer and longer as the blocks with limited transactions couldn't be mined fast enough to work through the queue. So I raised the limit which resulted in stuck daemons again and therefore bad luck / problems for the pool.

With the help of the devs I was able to find a sweet spot which seems to work fine now - for the moment - mining a decent amount of inputs/transactions but also getting the average response time of daemon to a reasonable amount.

As ZEC also had that problem about a year ago, there are upstream fixes available which will be incoporated into the ZEN daemons as well which will then fully fix this issue and all transactions can be mined again with every block,  until then, everything will work as well just those large input transactions will take a little bit longer.

Oh and a friendly "hello" to some of the other pool ops at discord; No, suprnova is doing nothing "malicious" here or "cheating the network" or other funny terms I read there, it's just doing it's job and working for the miners together with the network.

A friendly hello back Grin

I find it funny the reaction people have, and the unnecessary explanations they seek.
When a little research and investigation can lead you to answers.
( Oh wait, investigating an issue is now considered malicious  Shocked )

The work ZEC is doing to improve tx verification and shielding performance will be a huge benefit to node operators of all type.

Is there anyone who offers a credible Zencash secure node hosting preferably with a long history and track record of good service? (For example, nodeshare.in masternode hosting service etc)

Does anybody know the cost of setting up secure node? Apart from the fact that you need to have 42 Zencash for secure node
I'm asking here and not on discord as this question i think might be interesting for others.
