Hi,

I have faced issues after upgrading/updating to the blockchain driver. I am suspecting 1 of my gpus might be bricked.

I have 4x identical powercolor rx 580 8gbs, they were running around 64C+- degrees. After the blockchain driver one of the gpus started functioning unstable.

After trying many things I have realized that power draw of this card is lowering down to 80w sometimes 40w and back to 110w as it should be. so the graph is up and down all the way. Normally gpu only power draw for each card is 110w, as the others run and draw constantly.

So there is something wrong with this cards, heat is higher than the others, power draw is unstable and it causes watchdog gpu hang error.

What do you guys think might be the issue with this card?

I have the same issue with a MSI Gaming X 4G. It heats up too quickly and the fan does not ramp it up. Afterburner beta will control it only when it is open but it crashed the computer after a few minutes. Wattman crashes after 20 minutes. I haven't tried claymore controlling the fan yet.
The only way to make it work is put a big fan in front of it so the fan doesn't do anything.
If anyone has ideas I'm open to trying.

Power draw 150w avg in gpuz?

Claymore is working on a new miner. AMD is always making some changes, but that is usually not miner friendly.
There is some DAG issue too. It shows sometimes in miner DAG 129 or DAG 128. That is maybe an issue with Ethermine pool. Changing pool might be helpful.

Not related to miner, or drivers. It is pool issue (server issue on eu2).

But fact is that new driver does not have option for voltage control, like for eg. 17.2.1. On my rig average power consumption is 250w more.

I am using asia server and having no such issue. Change your server for now.

Did anyone check new non-beta driver Crimson ReLive Edition 17.8.1 (release date 21.08.2017)?
Does it include DAG Issue fix from mentioned beta driver?

Tried installing the blockchain driver on a FRESH Win7 install yesterday.

Per it's release notes, it SPECIFICALLY states it supports the R9 290 (I had 2 of those in the machine) and it looked like it was supposed to support the "R7 graphics" in the A10-7860k in that machine.

Actual results - it installed, but flat out did not recognise the A10 iGPU at all (came up as "standard VGA adapter" in device manager) and would not install on that no matter what I did.
It SUPPOSEDLY installed on the R9 cards, but NO OPENCL SUPPORT both per GPU-Z and from trying to run openCL software like the DNet client, Claymore ZEC miner, and both Genoil and QTMiner for ETH - no matter what I tried, it flat out WOULD NOT INSTALL OpenCL.

Without OpenCL support, there is ZERO POINT TO THIS BROKEN DRIVER VERSION.

Makes me wonder, YET AGAIN, if AMD bothers TESTING their crap RElive bloatware on all of the cards and OS they CLAIM the stuff is supposed to work on.

Machine is now happily working Moowrapper/BOINC/Dnet via LINUX (took me about an hour to "clone" a pre-built USB key installation over to that machine's HD - most of that waiting on DD to copy the installation over - thank goodness for 15.12 drivers!).

AMD drivers have been such a total load of bloatware garbage often BROKEN nightmare since 15.12 (though some of the 16.x versions were tolerable) that I'm about to the point of just saying "forget AMD, I'm going all NVidia" for GPUs and I've been looking seriously into alternatives for my current "go-to" AM3+ based platform.

I've ALREADY decided to completely ignore Vega (the pricing BS coupled with the low performance and INefficiency had me thinking "don't bother" already) and the RX 5xx series (after ONE MORE TIME around the "Relive is bloatware garbage" block, I refuse to even bother LOOKING at another Relive driver version ever again).

Don't even get me STARTED on AMDGPU-PRO on the LINUX side - they're STILL trying to play catchup on support of even the R9 series, the available tools are an even bigger joke than ATICONFIG, no support AT ALL for Tahiti after 2 bloody YEARS but they can support low-end junk like the R7 250?Huh
NVidia LINUX support was a tossup for AMD even back in the fglrx days - since the move to AMDGPU it's been no competition at all.

They don't seem to realise how much their "penny wise, pound foolish" short-sighted "don't care about LINUX, don't worry about putting competant work into drivers" attitude is poisoning the well among us long-time AMD fans.

If AMD doesn't get their act together on GPUs, they might just find themselves in the position of being PERMANENTLY locked into trying to compete only in the "value" segment - and if it wasn't for cryptocoin mining, they'd be losing out even THERE at this point.

AMD updated beta for win10x64 (from Aug23) and win7:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-Beta-for-[Suspicious link removed]pute-Release-Notes.aspx
Both builds have same version of graphics driver - 22.19.659.0

My test rig with 6 x RX470 Powercolor with hynix memory, clocks 1100/1820, timings from 1375mhz strap, win10x64, claymore 9.8
16.7.3 driver = 149MH/s ETH + 4400MH/s DCR
17.8.1 driver = 149MH/s ETH + 4400MH/s DCR
Aug11 beta = 157MH/s ETH + 4670MH/s DCR
Aug23 beta = 157MH/s ETH + 4670MH/s DCR

Profit boost is ~5.5% in dual-minig mode and ~4% in ETH only mode.

BUT!
I have hardcoded voltage and offset in bioses of my RX470s (1000mV in all fields and offset -16 ~= -100mV), so with old drivers they worked with 900mV in idle, and ~880mV under load.
But new drivers override some voltage settings.
So with no modifications theese RX470 worked with 1080mV and offset -16 ~= 960-980mV under load.
Power consumption increased from ~900W to ~1050W.
Changing offset to -32 (~ -200mV) with good old Wattool v0.92 lowered voltage to desired 860-880mV and power consumption lowered to expected ~900W.
I am going to make a 24-48 hours test, if it works stable, I will force ofsset -32 in bioses...

Anyone here tried using the Win 7 driver with the Genoil eth miner program? Wondering if that maybe will work.

I can't speak to anything other than the R9 290 and A10-7860K specifically, but it doesn't work under Win 7 with a card it OFFICIALLY LISTS AS SUPPORTED....

Looks like 8/23 beta, as they list, simply adds Vega support. Nothing else.

Yes, and it works with 17.8.1 too.
But I only checked VRM monitoring and voltage offset changing.
Also it is card cpecific, wattool could not change offsets on some exotic non reference cards with unknown VRM controllers.

I think only offset work, you can't set voltages and clocks anymore.

No, as the needed OpenCL runtime files have traditionally for years been INCLUDED IN THE DRIVERS.

In fact, I can't REMEMBER the last time I needed to install those seprately in order to run OpenCL applications under Windows.
