can anyone who's upgraded comment on starpool profit? how is profit switching with the 2 new algos and how are payouts?
I havent upgraded yet, still mining verge on suprnova.

I have upgraded and am currently mining @ Starpool. Profit switching works however they do not have a X11Gost pool. All you need to do is add Nist5=1 to yuor password to enable the switching. Work fine tho. Mines been going between Qubit and Nist5 mostly

And do you get more if you choose multialgo?   Tryed it many days, but profit is not good than!   If you mine only one coin it is always more!  But you need to choose one good coin!

The only issue for me is the highest trading volume is on cryptopia, imo the worst exchange out there.. so many issues with them freezing funds and wallets going down. If Bulwark could get on a good exchange it would be worth the hodl, price would pump.

I went through the update process when I reassembled the device it won't connect to the router show as dead to me what is the problem ?

eventually:

- your baikal is no more on that ip or your router gave it another ip
- you did not flash correctly
- you messed up the SD card partition
- your pi orange is defect
- you did not connect the interneb cables again :-)
- you did not clear your browser history, especially cookies
- all the above

Seriously, no sure what else maybe wrong, the above should points are the most common with X10.

Just did it and I have to admin I little was nervous. However, everything looks like its working fine. I suggest to first copy the image on another SD card first, just in case.

And you get every day less and less =)   And more newbies still buy Baikal X10 and hope for big money =)))))

You do not get your money back, if you buy it.  Buy better crypocoins!  You will earn more on it!

i'd be weary of suprnova.

the baikal has a usb port.. is it possible to boot from this to avoid having to pull the unit apart and access the sdcard!

forgot to mention this one but only limited of coins per algo which is shame.
suprnova is good but its single coin mining (so you mine one coin and doesnt switch to more profitable)

No. you cant use USB for that.
BUt its very easy to access sd card

I think the pool sgminer rotate option does in fact work. Might be useful if you want to mine myr-gr XVG for a little while, and then switch to myr-gr DGB, every 30 minutes or so. You have to connect to sgminer via a terminal session, and enter the commands. I don't know if it works with different algorithms, because when I tried it with different algorithms, sgminer had to restart, but with two different pools with the same algorithm, I watched them switch back and forth easily. Here is what I did:

1. Connect via PuTTY, or just go to Baikal web interface and click Terminal
2. Username = root
3. Password = baikal
4. Type "screen -x sgminer"
5. Push "P" for [P]ool management
6. Push "C" for [C]hange management strategy
7. Push "2" for Rotate and press "Enter"
8. Type in the number of minutes and press "Enter"

Now you're good to go. Close the session, or disconnect from the screen with Ctrl + A then Ctrl + D and then type "exit" and press "Enter"

GUYS PLEASE BEWARE!!!

I try to be as safe as I can while networking. But there is some "mofo", called "abbik84.x10", who is using the fact that people are updating Baikals, and he is getting into them, (cause password comes back to baikal, and root password too), it happened to me in a matter of 5 minutes or less. Got into my X10, (of course I had DMZ on my router on it and all that), but I just didnt have the chance to configure it again and this MOFO changed the root password, and made me impossible to configure back my X10, even though I was able to login and modify pools, but on Status page, his account will keep showing up on MPhub. I mean, I swear I cleared Browser Cache, went to different PC, went to Linux and checked again, and he will just keep mining in my X10.

Please confirm anybody who experienced something similar, I though for a while it was a Baikal´s tester username or something like that....

Of course I formatted, disabled DMZ and all that configured everything and Im back mining, but JUST BEWARE!!!

Cheers mates!, and stop arguing about how to make free money and get ur arse working!

Do not expose your Miner to a public WAN IP.  If you aren't doing that, then your network (or one of the compuiuters on it) is compromised.

That’s odd because my x10 is 30% fan and is no louder than the ac in my room. Temps are 38c on the boards and 45c on the pi. I do also have it next to my ac which turns in occasionally

if you run fan at 70 % of course you will hear you x10. It's pretty noisy at that fan lvls.

I have upgraded and am currently mining @ Starpool. Profit switching works however they do not have a X11Gost pool. All you need to do is add Nist5=1 to yuor password to enable the switching. Work fine tho. Mines been going between Qubit and Nist5 mostly

It seems to me that StarPool algo switching is just time base rotation and not base on profitable switching.  Is your setting like below? May I know is what is the 1 being set for Nist5=1 mean?

c=LTC,quark=1,qubit=1,myr-gr=1, Nist5=1,skein=0.5

It seems not so profitable on StarPool when I use this algo switching.

thanks,

Those numbers dictate the weighting the Pool uses when determining which pools to show you as Alive. If you have Nist5=1.2, it a multipler for avg mBTC/day. So say Nist5 is earning .002 per day and Qubit is earning .002 per day. If you have NIst5 as 1.2 then its effective Btc per day is .0024 Where as Qubit would be 1* .002 or .002. I use this flag and favor Nist5 more because it draws less power. Therefore even if Nist5 and Qubit are both supposed to make .002 really Nist5 would make more once you subtract electric costs. For instance Skein is .5 because the X10 only has 5GH/s of hashing power but online it shows Skein as earning .0035 per day which would be true if our machines could hit 10GH\s.

Does that help?
