either this means the new two algos are coming and will be SUPER profitable so they want to increase price per unit

or they are just greedy assholes

new algo's are nist5 and groestl, both with low hashrate, what means that when all x10 join those algo's, profitability will go down dramatically.

what is your source for that? so far this are only rumors and noone so far knew anything about the hashrate.

If anyone has an X10 and wouldn't mind granting me temporary access to it -- i'd appreciate it.

I'm building a coin hopping pool server and I'd like to make a custom image for X10 miners so that it automatically switches between the most profitable algo. I'm also curious if by deciphering the code if I could potentially unlock the ability to multi-mine. The X10 miner should be able to mine say qubit and groestlcoin (GRS) at the same time. If they had placed a couple additional SHA engines it would be possible to mine almost all of these algo simultaneously.

anyone knows what the IP changer of baikal exactly writes and if I can do that without removing the SD card as I don't want to disamble it ?

bilder.lallax.de/staticIP.pdf

I did that already initially and still it happens that ssh is not reachable anymore.

there is information in this thread about it. Several guys found a part of code linking to those algo's. With low hasrate i mean that nis5 and groestl has overall low hashrate at the moment.

First of all they have less io pins count them yourself. Secondly they sold me these Customize Pis for 20-25 USDs. I bought them because i have a small to medium sized farm of baikals so these extra components helps in any emergency.I dont need down time.

"Non-customized Orange PI Zero has one row 13 I/O pins. How many You count on Zeros inside Baikal miner?
You are a very ignorant person. Here you go.
Custom Baikal Orange Pi have 26 more IO Pins on 1 side with 13 IO pins on opposite side.

...
Whereas General Orange Pi have only 13 pins on one side.

It's just missing the pin header. You'd need a soldering iron, solder, and a 2x13 0.1" pin header like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183013174394.

Edit: I just checked an Orange Pi Zero I recently bought and it comes with a 2x12 and 1x12 header. Not sure why they're only 12 long since the Pi is 13 long. However since the stock Orange Pi already comes with the one row populated you could simply snap off (they're made for that) 2 of the pins on the 1x13 header and use it on the end of the 2x13 header. So now you just need a soldering iron & solder.

Pretty crazy Baikal is charging 7K  x 6 miners when return per day has gone down. According to what to mine $45 per day. Then is you factor in Market volatility you may be waiting for ROI for a year or more. Greed is a terrible thing. Maybe Baikal is just trying to cash in.

Has anyone actually managed to find out *if*, in fact, this batch that they are offering for $7000 each contains the 2 new algorithms?

I've asked, but they are dead silent about it... Just replied with the general copy-paste pricing email... :/

Same here. I am very disapointed from Baikal. They definitely made a lot of money with the prices they took for the first two batches. They could have sold one or two more batches with the new algorithms added, and so the miners as well as themself could have made some good profit. I wouldnt have complained if they would have rised the prices to maybe 2000$ or even 2500$. But 7000$, that is 5 time higher then second batch and more then 6 times higher then first batch. This is just ridicoulous.

Now, after the new price announcement, it seems, they are not better then bitmain. Just greedy people, that dont care a shit about the customers. I wouldnt be surprised now, if the new miners would have the new algos and they would not give a new firmware to the buyers from batch one and two, so only the new customers would have the advantage of those algos. It would also not surprise me, if they would sell more and more batches until the device is useless like the Antminer D3.

Like already said, i am very disapointed from Baikal. It is the next manufacturer, that is not trustworthy but just greedy... I really thought they were different from Bitmain. That was obviously a fault...

The customers (our) reaction should be, that noone should order only one from these devices. Unfortunately there are so much morons out there, dont knowing what they do, so i am sure they can sell their miners for that price...

The big mining farms will get bigger and bigger... Long live decentralization...

Baikal miners use an FPGA, what makes you think they could run two algo's simultaneously?

c'mon guys, I really do not understand why are you all complaining about the price.. 7kUSD is still cheaper than the market price.  Why do you expect to get it from them 10 times cheaper than the market price. Do not forget - 1st and 2nd batch were pre-oders with the waiting time of several months(!) and it was completely new unknown product with only 3 algos - so it was also some kind of risk considered in that low price.

And again you are contradicting yourself - you want to get it cheap, but on the same time you do not want manufacturer to sell too much of them, like it was with D3. But how manufacturer shall keep his profit target in this case?
I find this price fair enough..at least for the existing X10 owners.

Lets say the real Costs for one device is 500$. I dont think it is that much, But lets suggest it. This means they would earn 6500$ per device. Where i live, this would be called racketeering and it is a Crime...
