my best advice is don't sell all your btc for an exchange of altcoins but better hold your btc and make some profit from it , and that profit you will set aside half of that to buy altcoins and the other half is to buy back bitcoins, as we all know the altcoins are the most volatile than bitcoin, if you want to make a sure profit of altcoins invest the biggest top 10 altcoins.
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Selling out btc for the sake of altcoins is the most unwise act that I have heard of ever. Sorry to say this, but I might be harsh but I am not wrong. Bitcoin is the best digital asset, it is the mother of all crypto currencies, no altcoins can give as much enormous profits as it already has and the time that it took in doing so was a very short one indeed.

I am highly against buying altcoins at the cost of bitcoin but otherwise, it is good to have more than one investment.

There are good and bad altcoins and not all will go up big. This correction is already
running too long and hopefully will end after next Bitcoin fork.

I dont agree at all, bitcoin had changed a lot lifes and early investors had those gold opportunity into their hands, altcoins does bring back those game, where anybody can participate and if luck will make a decent profit, the most recent coin with amazing results were eth, from the 300k satoshis did reached 0,12 btc sometime ago. I do understand that no one were expecting bitcoin to be above 1300 dollars, but it had happened very fast, now maybe isnt the best time to invest into altcoins, and take a look into the ICO, wich are coming.

Ive been holding for 4-5 months and all my alts are way down vs bitcoin nothing but down. All top alts too.

4-5 months ago was the peak for lots of coins.  You bought the wrong coins at a bad time.  There are plenty of coins that are doing very well from 4-5 months ago.  Just keep hodling and cross your fingers.

Would have been much better off just leaving everything in bitcoin. Altcoins suck.
Ey, stop losing hope, you still have a long long way to go unless you are like 80 years old. Why would just hold your bitcoin, that sucks. Be a trader, a investor,be the person who you wish to be. Altcoins they don't guarantee you a profit all the time, it's time and market conditions that fluctuates the price. Chill down, wait for some time and you'll be back on track. All you need is some sort of motivation bruh.

you can't be more wrong.... Bitcoin was a great chance for them who purchased at the very beginning. But for now, this advantage of early adopters is gone. Of course Bitcoin will keep on rising, but there is no way it will rise faster and more than many many altcoins. Take in mind, if BTC goes from 6000$ to 12000$.. it's a 100% but do you think this will happen soon? But for example there is no doubt CND will be take off from 0,01$ to 0,05$ in no time.. mark my words!
Apart from many many great altcoins, there are also many great ICOS ready to wake up after all this BTC hardf**ck shit is over.. CND, REQ, KNC... and other more with great chances of success (easily x10, x20, x50) like GIZER, RIPIO, QUANSTAMP, UTRUST, RAIDEN,.. No way you will see this high % of profits with BTC in short term.
now, let time tell us who was right and wrong.. we will read again this message at 31 dec 2017.

I just think those ico with low marketcapitalization already succeed to bring the profit to the investors, I can say just like vibehub project and it brings me 4x from my investment, And I already participated in kyber , 0x project too. snip will be the next

Maybe you just chose the wrong coins. This is the mistake that most new traders or investors does. Like what all the guidelines says in numerous threads, invest what you can afford to lose. There are many scamcoins around so you should have taken precautions when you buy them.

I participated this year in some icos like bancor, tezos and others. I have faith in bancor amd tezos but i think we all need to wait for the bitcoin rally end and for China to reopen exchanges. Just be optimistic and have some faith

Just because a coin went up a lot doesn't mean it doesn't suck and can't die.

Do most people feel this way?  I also bought altcoins and prices are down.  It does seem like bitcoin is the most profitable coin but the issue is the price.

"altcoins" suck. If you are just speculating it´s a higher risk than BTC, everyone knows it and if you lost just wrap it a deal with it. If you bought a coin in a ICO because you want to be part of a project hope you chose it wisely and just wait. No startup delivers in a few months. If you bought a coin that places itself to be a true cryptocurrency you are not expecting it to "replace" BTC anytime soon so you are patiently holding and seeing where it leaves. And the examples can continue. Just think before buying. "altcoins" are so diverse that no one can say they suck... If the goal is to bye and hold just stick with BTC for now...

Not at all, you just need to be vigilant so you would know when to convert and when will you buy back again.
that's right if you now when to sell it out and when to buy it back to continue profits then you are still in good position, alts are good in time when btc
are really jumping high so when correction happen its time for alts to regain the value and you will gain as well from your holdings.
Investing could get troublesome if there is a due date that none must get the money by. That is why it's better to day trade Bitcoin and long trade the Altcoins.

Indeed Altcoin sucks by now like Bitcoin did 9 years ago but this is the future of the currency we're investing in. Indeed there are too many Altcoins today but you must research the Altcoin before putting your hard earned money into it. Instead, Eth, monero, waves, and hard forks like Bitcoin Cash and Gold are offering us good future for investments.

Bitcoin Cash and Gold aren't really offering anything though.
