I feel the news is just a rumour but in case it is true, this would be a shot in the arm for bitcoin and its value would rise further. If Amazon starts recognizing bitcoin as payment options like a normal currency, then we would have crossed the first hurdle of bitcoin not being in the mainstream. Amazon is big and it can really create a value store for bitcoin, no more dependencies on exchanges to convert bitcoins to fiat to buy regular stuff we need.
Only time will tell how this thing plays out. We can only wait and watch.
It's a clear rumour and not a new thing. It's been at least 6-7 month old rumour about bitcoin and amazon. Amazon can accept bitcoin in the future, but not these days. Bitcoin is in gray zone in most of the countries. They don't take the risk.

That’s good news then. We can just enjoy earning over the internet and purchase things from the same money that we have earned. It’s so cool that we can just spend online earning to buy grocery, gifts and every dam thing from the amazon. So now there is no more worries about how to and where to spend the bitcoin. More than this it would be watchable that how amazon is going to implement the whole algorithm on their website. Do they implement available processor or create their own. Will be very helpful for bitcoin too.

Amazon should have accepetd bitcoin many years ago, not now. Shame on it, there are little retailers that accept bitcoin, and Amazon does not. Amazon is the biggest retailer in the world, and still, they do use amazon gift cards that are valid only at their website and not elsewhere. As I told it, the biggest retailer from the world is the latest to accept the big novelties. And they (Amazon) have some prices.... the biggest in the world.

I don't think it is official. I mean it would make a difference and a great one too. Imagine Amazon accepting bitcoin while no paypal incorporated that would be something.

I really hope that one day Amazon will accept Bitcoin as a payment because almost all of the things that I wanted are in there and I want to buy it with my Bitcoins, and if this will really happen soon I think it will be beneficial with the Bitcoin community plus the price increase of Bitcoin as the demand will surely comes high. Imagine one of the largest and well known e-commerce website will recognize Bitcoin as a payment, the demand will increase drastically and people that hates Bitcoin will think again in using it.

This particular news filtered the crypto world some weeks back and later faded away but coming out now is something I really don't want to bank on until when there is an official statement from the company concerning the proposed acceptance of bitcoin. Reading the article further cements that its a mere speculation without anything to back it from the company's spokesperson. Acceptance of bitcoin by Amazon will give a big push that other companies will follow for sure but that does not mean everyone should then start altering either his holding or selling position for that. The announcement is expected to happen today but I still haven't seen any to that effect.

Amazon may need to step up their game as overstock just announced their own US regulated ICO.

Rumours like this one do have an effect on speculation, so I certainly don't mind that.
Some number cruncher in a basement at Amazon has put together the number of Amazon gift cards purchased with BTC and that should get AZN's attention, I am certain it is not a small number. They see the middleman percentage as profit they could be taking themselves, and will probably come up with some concept to exploit this like they are doing with electronics and other merchandise under their "Amazon Basics" umbrella.
Then again, AZN is comfortably flush with cash and doesn't have to do more than their current status quo to keep raking it in. Will they be happy with that, or will they continue to embrace innovation?

Business is business as usual and we know that Amazon is one of the most well known online shop and they have to get into what's on the trend. Because most of the online shoppers are into internet and they figured out that bitcoin is the digital currency that is on trend now.
No one is having anything to do with Bitcoin so they can go shopping with it. The only trend is the usual get rich quick one which only a small number of people are doing and it may not work out too well for them. I can't believe anyone falls for this Amazon shit any more. It's now on trend on social medias and many are falling for it. Every time there are a lot of news that circulating on the bitcoin society and with this type of news, people are falling for it. And this is no doubt that everyone loves this type of news as this is a positive one. We can't assume that no one is going to shop their bitcoins, it's also a very convenient thing for shopaholic people.

If this happens the growth and demand for bitcoin will increase. If a leading merchant such as Amazon accepts bitcoin it will influence every other vendor in the market and The importance of bitcoin will forever be changed in the financial market. People will no longer have to convert bitcoin to make payments.

If this really holds any truth, then This is a significant progress for bitcoin and more convenient for us to purchase items at amazon. This is one great news for the crypto community and it is a nice way of portraying acceptance. As time passes, more and more establishments will be accepting bitcoin as payment; crossing my fingers for this.
