Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Use several different types of wallets to store your tokens.

Can post your public address if people can help you trace those coins, if it was moved to exchange then the person may be tracked but I doubt the person will be dull enough to do that

I think you entered your private key to the fake MEW, or click unknown source and your computer was infected by virus. Therefore you need to be cautious next time.

I just logged into MEW and when check my balance everything except 45 tokens everything else has gone! My wallet was hacked, but where have all my tokens gone?
Are you sure that your MEW wallet was hacked? You should check the last few transactions and see where the ethereum has landed. That wil likely be an exchange or mixer service (if the hacker is smart) - in that case contact the exchange but if its a mixer then I dont think they can help you.

I am devastated. Has anyone else been hacked how is this possible?
The most probable hack of MEW wallets is by phishing. Always check the URL of the site when you are logging into MEW. Often phishing links are set p by Slack, Telegram bots in order to scam people during rush hours of popular token sales. If you unknowingly send the phishing site your private keys then all your coins will be spent by them.

I am not sure what to do! please advice folks.
Bookmark the actual MEW site, apply Metamask extension if you use Chrome or use a hardware wallet like Ledger Nano.

This is good advice. I think that this is the best response to your questions. I myself bookmarked the actual MEW site in my google chrome browser. I’m not familiar with wallet hacks but it is likely that you somehow lost your private keys. Maybe you can check the transactions as suggested and trace your lost tokens from there. Or try to remember whether you somehow gave away your private keys, perhaps that could help you determine how you lost your tokens. We have to be careful next time, in the future maybe you could store your tokens in different wallets.

I would say first check your address on https://etherscan.com and verify whether if the tokens are still there.
If not, you can follow the transactions hashes and see if it has been moved to an exchanged or not.

Always protect your "Private keys" and use trusted sources. make sure the website is HTTPS and the URL is correct.

Aww that is so sad. I have a question for you. Are you an airdrop participant? Well if you are, then that would be a mistake. You mistakenly put your private key rather than your ethereum address. That is so sad.

It is not possible without your private key and maybe you put your private key in any airdrop instead of your ether wallet. Same happens with my friend and he put his private key in place of his eth address and his whole account stolen.

I really doubt that your MEW account was hacked. Unless, the hacker obtained a file of your wallet (if you are using KSTORE/JSON). If that happens, him (hacker) should have the password as the wallet is encrypted and will only be accessed if they have the pass needed.

Maybe they are not just appearing as you need to load (show all of your tokens). There is a possibility that you didn't add them. Also, you can be able to check all the transactions that was been made through your acct. to see if your coins was been forwarded into another wallet (given that it was really been hacked).

Unfortunately, there is no way those coins will be able to return right back at you. Unless, you know who the culprit is and the coins was still stored in the wallet. Much better if you have also access on it.

MEW is a secured wallet, you should take carefully of your wallet file and only you should remember its private key or password.

try to remember again, maybe you have told someone about the private key. yes most people do not realize the private key has been shared, either for airdrop or follow ico project. I have experienced it once. because I carelessly gave my private key to ico project registration column. so be more careful for the future.

I'm sorry to hear that; it is a very expensive lesson indeed. My hunch is, you have saved passwords  on your browser including your private keys and that's how the hacker got your funds. I suggest you use hardware wallets instead, as is much safer.

Use several different types of wallets to store your tokens.

Actually it is not advisable to use too many wallets as you may have lost or forgotten some of them. One of the best way to store is to get hardware wallet so that it adds another layer of security and make it hard for the hacker to access your wallet.

A different wallet for every type of token can minimize your loss. I check my computer weekly for any keyloggers and spyware also. You should enable every security feature you can on your wallets also. Another thing to avoid is any airdrop that requires you to download a wallet as it's really easy to hide stuff on them. sorry for your loss anyway.

I think your pc has been hacked and steal your private information, or you may have been tricked into entering your information into a fake website.

I will give everyone an addon cocktail to boost your security signficantly: uBlock origin, uMatrix, ghostery, tampermonkey for the anti-adblock, metamask and ether adress lookup. uMatrix will help keep you safe more than you could ever know.

You are not lucky, you probably went to a phishing site and they have stolen your private keys. Now nothing can be done. I'm really sorry.

Is this related to the "Monero Economy Workgroup" ?
I wouldn't be surprised.. that guy was labeled a scammer eventually.
