I'm afraid that in couple of days/weeks it will be the same situation like before with PoW. Impossible for average researchers to mine some coins through PoDC. At least we know now, that there wasn't any botnet, just few guys with huge hash power.

I just saw that biblepay-explorer.org redirects to explorer.biblepay.org:3001 So we only have one Explorer? Is biblepay-explorer.org staying down?

Yes, if the computers remain hidden, their PODC update will fail, and task weight will fall to 0. So they should receive 0 compensation in the superblock. Im going to go ahead and create a Superblock induction system in the Pool, so we can drill into historical superblocks and see the current voted superblock data by CPID. This is in the spirit of answering questions about UTXO weight, task weight, magnitude, where RAC was yesterday, and where the researcher is in the upcoming contract.

Hi- wondering if you can help. I've been using Biblepay with its GUI program through Linux Ubuntu, and mining through an account at pool2.biblepay.org. All has been going seamlessly, until today. I upgraded my Biblepay version because last time I logged into my pool2 account it said we have to upgrade to version 1.1.0.1+ in order to keep mining. But now after the upgrade, it no longer syncs, says "no block source available". It also keeps asking me for my wallet password when I load it for "PODC updates" which I have no clue what this means. Can you please help me resolve this, or point me to a tutorial of sorts? Thankyou You can cancel the password prompt, its just for PODC (Cancer mining). See this for cancer mining: http://wiki.biblepay.org/Distributed_Computing_2So, first please ensure your system time and timezone is correct. A lot of people cant sync if the time is off by more than 2 minutes.... Then resync. Yes, validated the system timezone and time is correct. Not resyncing or showing progress. Did I have to change something in my wallet configuration file to go along with the update? Currently it looks like: addnode=dnsseed.biblepay-explorer.org addnode=dnsseed.biblepay-explorer.org gen=1 genproclimit=2 poolport=80 pool=https://pool2.biblepay.org workerid=****(hidden) Can you delete the chain and re-sync. And try these instead: addnode=node.biblepay.org addnode=biblepay.inspect.network Delete the chain?? Do I have to rebuild the entire chain now just because of an upgrade, or is it because of the node change you suggested? Or is it to maintain integrity because of the node change? I'm not sure how to delete the chain, I suppose I just dive into my Biblepay folder and find it there? Thanks again. I'm just saying if your in a hurry, it only takes 5 minutes. IF you don't want to try the nodes I posted. I took your suggestion, deleted the chainstate and block folder (not before backing them up), changed the addnodes, and booted up Biblepay again. After only a few minutes, it download and resynced again! But now something terrible has occurred. My mined Biblepay is gone! There was a mined block that my computer did, and it payed me over 7,000 Biblepay for it. Even though I am using the same wallet, all that Biblepay is gone! However, when I delete the new chainstate/block folders and add in my old ones, it all comes back. But then Biblepay does not sync up! Even with the nodes you gave me! So it's either I use the new nodes and delete my old folders, or I keep my old folders but cannot use Biblepay! Aargh! What to do guys?

As long as you have the original wallet.dat, after you resynced, if your balance is 0, that means you mined the BBP on a fork. BBP mined on a fork is not really valid BBP. That explains why you had trouble syncing, your wallet was on its own chain, and other nodes were banning you. Just ensure you have the original wallet.dat in place, then go forward from here.

Well, thank you so much for explaining it- I truly appreciate it! Ok, so if its not valid than its nothing to be concerned about, and I will keep on keeping on. Obviously I still have a lot to learn about forks (and why I just can't use a spoon)(joking joking). And yup still have my original wallet, so all is well. Thanks again!

Ok, everyone please vote above on Aikidas poll and we will honor either staking by Mag or staking by RAC. If we end up going with staking by RAC, I will create yet another poll for the stake amount required by RAC so the wallet can be updated with the correct business logic - and I will take a look to see if we can add a spork before exchange upgrade to support either way. And do keep in mind in the future, when discussing new ideas for the coin, all ideas must first be floated as community discussion and must also be given blessing by our IT department. As there is no guarantee that there is a developer resource available, no guarantee that IT agrees that a business logic decision is safe for consideration, and not necessarily agreed that it is compatible from a support perspective by IT. I took a look at the effectiveness of UTXO per RAC as compared to UTXO per Mag and it appears to be better for competition, so Im all for it if we decide to switch to UTXO per RAC: Date, User RAC, TEAM RAC, User Magnitude, UTXO Requirement for StakePerMag, UTXO Requirement for StakePerRAC 3-30-2018 10,000 1,000,000 10.0 200000 20000 6-30-2018 10,000 7,000,000 1.42 28400 20000 9-30-2018 10,000 10,000,000 1.00 20000 20000 What it basically does is creates an environment where your UTXO requirement stays high and constant no matter how much the BBP infrastrucutre grows, meaning more requirements far into the future for competition. Thats not a bad thing, I like it .... When I made up UTXO per mag, I was thinking we needed to dynamically scale the requirement as the researcher count grew, but now that I ran the report with the numbers, I can see where Aikidas thinking is coming into play - hes trying to charge each researcher per RAC a very high requirement that does not get diluted as the team grows. Thats good for price.... and good for our orphans. Thanks for the full evaluation. EDIT: One element of the original decision I stick by is whats going to happen if our price goes from .003 per $ to .30 per $? The magnitude scaled better with rising price (as price is a function of popularity), however the RAC is going to get Very, very pricey to mine when our price rises. SO this means if we do vote RAC in we are going to need to hold yet another poll to lower the requirements as soon as our price goes up by 10X.... Lets keep that in mind also when voting for this. So Im a little conflicted Ill let the community decide.

Now we can vote on Staking per RAC or Staking per Mag. Hi Just to be clear, 500 BBP Per RAC Required for 100% UTXO means that for 10000 RAC needs to be staked 5M coins for 100% UTXO ? Thanks.

Yes; and take me for example, I have 29,941 RAC and Im like #9 or so on the leaderboard - I would be required to stake 14,970,000 BBP per day to keep my rewards at 100% if we voted 500 BBP Per Rac.

I'm just shooting from the hip here. I see the upside to the RAC solution that's been proposed. However, Rob is correct in noting that if there is any rapid increase in price, the BBP/RAC amount will have to be decreased in order to ensure that new entrants to the market are not deterred.
For example, if a user has a consumer grade core i7 or Ryzen 7, they will have an RAC of somewhere between 4000 - 6000 depending on OC, etc. At the current price, they would need to purchase 80,000 to 120,000 BBP in order to mine at full capacity. At current prices of $0.003/BBP, that is about $240 to $360 to use a processor that costs about the same price. If there is any upward movement of the price, let's say a doubling, suddenly that price shoots to $480 to $720 to enter the market.
So, if the RAC proposal goes through, those individuals who have mined large amounts of BBP already would be perfectly fine to stake what they currently have and mine at full capacity. However, for a new individual bringing their PC to mine BBP, they would have to first purchase a decent amount of BBP just to get started. Unless they are math savvy and want to figure out how what their ROI is on this, I would suspect that the average Joe would not be inclined to start.
So my question is, would the growth of the coin be hampered by introducing such a high starting cost for new miners?
Now if the BBP/RAC amount were then decreased to try and mitigate the effects of high prices, then we would have a decreasing stake amount. Wouldn't this then be similar to the mag system?

I think you all might enjoy this new feature! We just added Upcoming super block data to the pool, so now questions like Capulo had, what is my current RAC being assesed at, and questions like the user who was left out of the first two superblocks - Am I in the next superblock, and Do I have the correct UTXO weight, and do I have the correct task weight, these can all be answered now by logging into the pool: https://pool.biblepay.org, click Reports | Superblock Report. Btw, the Total RAC should be re-captioned "Total Superblock RAC", and the AvgRAC is the users superblock RAC. The UTXOWeight is the amount the network sees as your Staking amount over the last 24 hours. The UTXOAmount should be captioned UTXO-Percentage. To see if you are at 100%, take a look at your RAC, your UTXOAmount and TaskAmount. The superblock data is coming from my first sanctuary (Sanc1), and is updated hourly. We destroy the data once per hour. The data is ordered by User RAC descending (like a leaderboard is). However, I am going to work on adding a contract history soon, so you can go back to prior points in history to see changes (and so we can add graphs to graph historical data by CPID etc).

LOL, Mike and I are paying a lot of money to rent cloud machines right now,
I am using AWS (Amazon Web Service) Spot Instances to get a low hourly price (about $1/hour to rent a 64 core machine) [so for 8 of those machines, about $200/day], I wont be able to afford running them much longer and will have to shut them off sometime in the next week.
It may look like I have a bunch of machines but most are spot instances that got randomly terminated and the machines RAC are decaying. I expect in a few weeks Ill only have 40-45k RAC after all the rental machines decay
It ended up being a good starting strategy given the quick release
