It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Soooo... megacoint client crashing is completely unrelated to megacoin client  Grin

This is a clean install of Windows and there isn't much else running, and I've tried a fresh install of the client while running practically nothing at all. That nobody else is having this issue is hardly an argument. Maybe not enough people are using the client, or maybe they don't visit this place as this is not the center of the universe, or whatever.

I'll figure it out though. Debugging right now...

Congrats on the pizza!

hey, upload some info from the debug file in roaming/megacoin folder.    if don't know where it is, type %appdata% in windows search

Okay, well most errors I see are like these:
received block d267456af248d33fbfbe46b89934f47cbexxxx040d23a65ca112x85911ff43be
Unable to open file C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Megacoin\blocks\blk00000.dat
ERROR: CBlock::WriteToDisk() : OpenBlockFile failed
*** Schrijven van blok mislukt

That last line translates to: "Failed to Write Block"

I've also seen this (before I turned timestamps on...):
received block dd9b76d3d01faff0c8bd36981433c563dxxxx64f099cebeb834dxccae9092e6d

Unable to open file C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Megacoin\blocks\rev00000.dat
ERROR: CBlockUndo::WriteToDisk() : OpenUndoFile failed
*** Schrijven van undo-data mislukt

And that last line translates to: "Failed to Write Undo"

I've moved the Megacoin directory from %appdata% to another harddisk. So far the Megacoin client has been running from there without an issue. So, tould be an issue on the first disk, though not likely, no hardware errors of any kind, and no other applications suffering. Rather... by moving the directory to another disk, it's also been moved outside the "protected" area of my user account, so I'm thinking it's still something security like. In Windows 7, I think. Too tired to think any further right now. I'll sleep on it Smiley

Congrats on the pizza!

Well here's the thing, man -- I have it on 5 machines. I also know several people personally that have it installed. Obviously everybody posting here isn't having that issue. I have about 60 examples of it running without issue...and you are the only counterexample. In this situation, wouldn't you blame your machine before the program?

I guarantee it isn't a clean install of Windows. Have you tried it on a different machine? Obviously I hope you get it up and running but it's just frustrating when people point fingers in the wrong direction.

I have installed the Megacoin client on 7 of my own systems, both laptops and desktops. I've also installed it on at least another dozen systems for friends, and never once have I seen it crash. Clearly the problem is not the client.

Yep, I'd bet on it since Kimoto said he was in the process of packaging the new client. Less than 3,000 blocks till the next reduction.

I hope so. this looks like an interesting coin.  Seems to have Dev and Comm support.  have watched several other coins launch and burn but this one seems to have survived the dangerous growth stage to more stability BUT would someone direct me to info about the 8.2 Code??? what does that mean for the coin  otherwise, how is MegaCoin any different from a POW Script coin like LiteCoin?Huh -digeros
PS searched but couldn't really find anything about the 8.2 Code.

Just down loaded and tried to install.... BUT   .... WINDOWS INstaller NOT STABLE   -digeros

Good evening!

The laws of Murphy vs the Laws of Physics once again.

Here is the updated fork with the new Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty formula installed. It changes at block 63,005 because this fork ends in version 5. The difficulty also now changes every block.

Update to 0.8.995 is mandatory. There are 3 to 4 days remaining to update.
