Problem with windows download?

sourceforge points to nothing

http://sourceforge.net/projects/megacoin/files/megacoin-0.8.995-source.zip/download
http://sourceforge.net/projects/megacoin/files/megacoin-0.8.995-win32-setup.exe/download

both work fine for me.

I asked maxpower if he could build the new version Mac wallet and here is the reply:

"Sure, I can take a look at this later today! I don't charge to make these wallets, but I'm happy to accept bounties/tips if people find them useful. People usually tip around BTC0.01 equivalent.

I'll PM when I have a build ready!"

  Cheesy

Was going to offer some MEC for a bounty. If anyone wants to donate for the bounty please send to: MLMHMxz5EcZqFZ1ayLCYPJnDc5UvBNn8er

I'm not sure what to tell you, man.

Well.. why do you like MEC? Why are you mining it? Why do you believe in it? I'm interested in hearing that.

One reason I like to support certain coins is the ability of the developer.

There are plenty of coins around which are simple copy and paste coins. This is fine up to a point, but when changes need to be made and innovations need to be added / included the less skilled / experienced devs tend to not be up for the job.

This is where I think Megacoin is different. Dr. Kimoto is clearly a very competent dev, he managed to use the latest bitcoin code, which no one else was able to do. The Megacoin qt client looks great - better than most other coins. The megacoin.co.nz website is hands down the best I have seen for any new coin. Kimoto will not take a single coin in donation (unlike most other coin devs) which to me shows me he is not interested at all in pump and dump tactics. The Megacoin client gives the lowest amount of stale / invalid shares for any coin I have ever run a pool for (probably owing to the latest bitcoin core code). The talk of Zerocoin being integrated into Megacoin which if true and if Kimoto can do it would instantly bring this coin to the front of the altcoin race....

I think when a dev can demonstrate the achievements listed above you can pretty safely bet that the future is bright for Megacoin.

Just over 2,000 blocks until the reward halving.  Then 5 blocks from then for the difficulty fix.  Smiley  This should also make MegaCoin multipool immune.  Blocks will always be mined at a fixed interval.   Smiley

New version of wallet flagged by my Antivirus.  I have no other wallets that do this so I will not update until it is cleared by my antivirus.  Even if it is a false positive.. in crypto world I am hesitant to trust anyone.

Minerd.exe is also falsely detected as a virus by quite a few scanners. Which anti-virus are you using?

Only a fool would be selling at this point. Mining and buying all I can (which isn't much on my budget). Even so, in my neck of the woods they call me Mr. Megacoin. No offense Kimoto...  Grin

Someone correct me, but I think it's the bigger pools like Multipool/Middlecoin dumping.

You're probably right. I should actually set up my cryptsy with my miner too.. not for selling though, just auto deposit.
