well at no point did i hate on Megacoin at all, i simply said i have a decent size investment in it and would like to contribute to the development effort, but I am discouraged by the little communication and team involvement by Kimoto.
There is no public GitHub for the source, but the source is available from the SourceForge page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/megacoin/files/megacoin-0.8.996-source.zip/downloadIf you would like to contribute to Megacoin in anyway, please do so Post your code snippets here or in a PM to Kimoto himself. The Doctor has been known to respond. Is this as easy as a simple pull request on GitHub? No, but it is a start. Kimoto is not always the most timely, but he has delivered in every way up until this point To those that talked about a secret club of Megacoin insiders: no. There are several members within the community actively working on projects that have yet to be announced. For example, darkproton drops in every once in awhile to tease a project he is working on and ethought is working on a payment processor. Alienwalkerx is placing ads all over the internet, including Hazard's blog (I'm sure he appreciates the support ), MobGod was working out the specifications to a physical coin, and vtr99 is trying to get jackets ordered. The Megacoin community welcomes all. So take a seat, chat a little, and post a few gifs Speaking of jackets, I wouldn't be opposed to the higher quality version, but I am a go for either one. I haven't been very vocal about it since we are at the mercy of our busy developer, but there is also a store in the works. It was actually in development before Megacoin came along, but now we plan to make MΣC the preferred currency (fiat currency will not be accepted). With luck, we hope to have a concrete announcement in 5 or 6 weeks. I believe we are ready to order the jackets, we just need to make sure everyone is good with the higher quality (more expensive) version. We also need to work out the logistics of getting them ordered, and shipped to everyone.

I have to agree. Also some of its supporters (bag holders?) are almost cult-like. It's amusing when it is a scifi coin like Offerings, but for megacoin it seems all too real, which is probably turning off a lot of people. Then you have all these animated gifs, which are not only tiresome but reek of teenage tumblrshits. If you want your coin taken seriously, the community needs to clean up its image.

Some of us have given hints about what's coming, but there is no point in spilling the beans before it's time!
Why is it that "some of us" somehow know more than the rest of the community? I've read every post on both forums and the "hints" do not reveal anything. It seems like there is some inner circle of people but they only post hype and innuendo. If people know something and want to hype the coin, just says what it is, only providing hype and no substance hurts the coin, makes it look like GLD forum. Telling people that services are actively being worked on is not hype - it is news / information. Services take time to develop. If those services that were announced never get released, then possibly, it was hype. But I am pretty confident most of the recent announcements surrounding up and coming services for Megacoin will prove to be true. So please be patient and you will see.

i checked twitter and facebook, /megacoin is gone in both cases neither are pretending to be mec which is a plus i don't personally think much of facebook, actually hate it also facebook.com/bitcoin only has 37 likes llol, although not official site I don't think, looks to joe public like it is so fb has no relevance to btc success and doubt it would to mec too tbh
twitter would have been nice though to be run by one of the main guys here
anyone got any viral marketing ideas? mec is that good , a diamond in the rough of coins ideas?

I love MEC, I think it may be the BitCoin 2.0 we have been waiting for and would love to see it grow in use because has anyone checked how large the BTC blockchain is lately..... 12.6 GIGABYTES TOO LARGE to be carried on a PHONE AS opposed to MEgaCoin's only 125Kb, Yes MEC is much younger blockchain but still I think that some sort of thought went into this coin to avoid a huge blockchain (some how - don't know how yet) making this Coin fit Aristotle's money requirement for Portability BETTER than BTC. My suggestion, get our friends EVERYWHERE in South America, Africa, China, India and Asia interested in BTC first as a concept, then introduce alternate coins that follow the same ideas with alternative technical solutions as ways to spend (or transport) BTC in alternate ways. I am trying to get my family and friend to put JUST 10% of their long term savings into BTC as a risk hedge against fiat currency devaluation but it is still a HARD sell to people who have not read the book "Rethinking Money" by bernard Leitier Rethinking Money- digeros PS. If you find my info/contrib useful, do me a fav and give me a trust rating, as some asshole Neg'd me for commenting on his shitty acoustic engineering in trying to come up with a "Sound of Bitcoin" ... I DARED mention the ROCKING deposit sound of MEGACOIN... Oops... PPS "The truth will set you free, but it may kick your teeth in first" - anonymous

the block chain is smaller because it is practically void of any transactions. as MEC increases in popularity, you will see the blockchain grow in size exponentially as more and more transactions are being comprised of multiple inputs such as coins bought from the exchange. also you are exagerrating that the blockchain is only 125kb. try megabytes buddy. this is not to say that mec doesn't offer any advantages over bitcoin-- it does. the blocks are more easily processed in the scrypt algorithm and are typically smaller due to having less pooled transactions in each block. also the pre client launch block check is set to a much lower value on most altcoins than that of bitcoin. bitcoin is slow because the sheer amount of transactions in the ledger. some people just can't seem to grasp this concept
