Well I was mining LTC for a while, but I think I am moving back to CAP to stay.

Way too cool of an idea here to let it go... now, who wants to make a CAP poker/gambling site a la Atomic Wrangler? Smiley

"Atomic Wrangler"

ha ha oh man , i need to go back and revisit that ha ha .

I looked at the bottlecaps code, for reward it is based on height:

Quote
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(unsigned int nHeight)
{
      int64 nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;

       if(nHeight < 240)
         nSubsidy = 1 * COIN;
      else if(nHeight < 480)
         nSubsidy = 2 * COIN;
      else if(nHeight < 720)
         nSubsidy = 3 * COIN;
      else if(nHeight < 960)
         nSubsidy = 4 * COIN;
      else if(nHeight < 1200)
         nSubsidy = 5 * COIN;
      else
         nSubsidy = 10 * COIN;

    return nSubsidy;
}

but all the calls are actually based on nBits
Quote
        if (pblock->IsProofOfWork())
            pblock->vtx[0].vout[0].nValue = GetProofOfWorkReward(pblock->nBits);

so I don't think anything other than 10 coins are executed. Looks like a bug.

I think that was the initial staggered reward they wanted. I didn't work out but had no ill effect on the release since the start difficulty was 0.25.

Anyone out there interested in toying with a skinnable winamp style QT? We would like to make an addition to bottlecaps allowing it to be skinned maybe even just basic snap in a logo and colors to start. With that being said its opensource so this would allow pretty much any coin to be skinned. Anyone interested in this project? Send me a PM or heck steal the idea make it for your coin and well add it haha. Either way I think skinnable wallets are a great feature that could benefit all the coins. Who wants the challenge?

Can you say PIPboy 2000 skin?

The bottlecaps foundation would like to take on a second developer and give kudos to our original developer for all his hard work he put into the project so far and wish him luck on his future ventures. Our new Dev will be concentrating on releasing check point updates, proof of stake features and making sure the block subsidy market cap system works properly. That will be his primary focus. We would like to take on a second developer to concentrate on new features such as:
- Transaction messaging
- UPNP
- Possible IRC style chat feature
- Skinnable QT (can you say pipboy 2000?)
- get encrypted wallet proof of stake working.

If your interested in joining the team PM me so we can sort out additional details.

We are still working on the web page the original template we found was great had some issues so if anyone has a good template that is 50-60' vintage style or possibly post apocalyptic please share so we can get the site up and going. Thanks for your time enjoy bottlecapping!

Yeah, I'm done with CAP for a bit.  I got 400 to sit on for a while, but pool mining is producing a ton of orphans and solo mining is about 50% rejection rate, so I am going back to LTC for now.

I really dont understand it is behaving like a 30sec block currency... It should be stable as rock at 60sec blocks!

We will look into if there is an issue. What pools specifically are the issues on I am mining it and have not had a lot of rejects hardly any actually.

Silverwolf's is the one I have been mining on... but it looks like there are strings of like 5-10 orphaned blocks in a row.

Solo, I was doing well on Friday, getting 8 blocks in a 3 hour period, with 1 reject.

Since then I am shooting about 50/50 in the reject department.

Hopping back on silverwolf's pool now and will probably just leave it alone for a few days and see how it pans out.

We have another updated coming soon with a new checkpoint and are going to see if there is any other issue that might cause the extra orphans.

Are the Checkpoints Dynamic or will we download the Client again ?

I've been mining , no problems at all - i didn't move to Stratum but , so maybe the issue is there?

I think the biggest issues have been with stratum pools most of the pool owners have had to write their own code to support CAP's I know vern did and he is tweeking it all the time.

silverwolfs pool has quite a bit lately and very unusual for his pools too.
