We will look into if there is an issue. What pools specifically are the issues on I am mining it and have not had a lot of rejects hardly any actually.

silverwolfs pool has quite a bit lately and very unusual for his pools too.

I know both Vern and silverwolf are working on the pool side issues.

I think the biggest issues have been with stratum pools most of the pool owners have had to write their own code to support CAP's I know vern did and he is tweeking it all the time.

Zero problems here I stayed off the stratum .

The hash estimate was all wrong but I knew this was because the pools were not ready to calculate  them.

But based off what I received another comparable currency at their rate , my reject orphan is very low.

Did you know that Fallout Online was in the works but I think it is on hold right now but if we could eventually get this coin to be a true in game currency for FO that would be groundbreaking.

A currency that has to be truely earned through either mining which eventually would stop due to the difficulty if it got added to the game so purchasing the Caps would be the only way.

Imagine the publicity of such a ground breaking accomplishment.

I love Bottlecaps and I love Fallout 1,2 and 3.

It  is very important to update your wallet to prevent forking of the chain watched a few coins fall to the fork recently. If you run a pool update to the latest client!!!! Always update all of your wallets for all ALT coins.

Did you know that Fallout Online was in the works but I think it is on hold right now but if we could eventually get this coin to be a true in game currency for FO that would be groundbreaking.

Unfortunately, Bethesda and other rights-owners, would never allow it as an internal coin. However, getting them to accept it as a "type" of purchase currency might be possible. But chances are, they would reject the offer, since it is too similar to in-game content, and they would not want anyone mistaking it for being "Created or endorsed" by them.

If they took it over, it would no longer be a coin you could mine, and would be a coin that you have to purchase from them. Thus, defeating the purpose of it even being created. (Because they could just cut-out the overhead and charge you dollars. Essentially making the coin as useless as a paypal-coin. Unless they just want to do that, in hopes you can't spend it all, or forget about it, reclaiming the losses as "free loans". Which is how paypal once operated, to become what they are today.)

I had a silly typo in my latest commit. Should compile smoothly now.

No there will be a new update coming soon. You can compile the sources now or wait until I release the new Windows binaries in the coming days. All that has been done is a proper checkpointing fix. I will update with one more checkpoint right before the new client

Gambling adds no value to the coin, if anything, it degrades it.

As a gambler, 1000's loose, and the house wins, and the 1 winner wins coins. The house cashes-out, and the gambler may or may-not cash-out also. In the end, there was no "losses" of coins value, other than the tiny bit of operating costs for the lotto/gamble.

However...

If the holdings are re-invested (thus, not in cash-out), in another gamble... That removes those coins from circulation for the duration of the lotto/gambling time, before the winner is drawn. That causes a slight "bump" in the market, for the positive value. But that turns into a negative value once they are later cashed-out.

Unlike a bank, that lends your holdings to others... holding coins is just stalling decreased value to a future date. The hope is that the value rises faster than the holdings value, so less losses are shown, at the time of dumping coins for a cash-out.

I think you're overthinking this and comparing too much with real economies. Coin gambling adds value to new coins because people can do something with them for the time being. I agree, many lose, few win at a casino. That's how it works. The more risk you take, the higher the potential return. Nobody is forced to play of course...

At a casino you are buying entertainment and a chance to win a lot of coins. Is that a life-changer for a coin? No. But it's better than just getting coins in your wallet from faucets etc, waiting for God knows what.

Anyway in lighter news, you guys do know CAP can be used at the casino right? Thx to John Eden for that!

Gambling certainly adds value to CAP. The more uses a coin/currency has, the more the value increases. Stop and think about the basics of money. The purpose is to exchange a note/coin for goods or services. From the seller's perspective, if the note cannot be easily used or exchanged then they won't want it. But as the note is used in/at/for more places and goods, the more useful the note. It's all about utility. Sure opening a single casino to CAP isn't going to make a huge difference in the long run, but it certainly helps give it a better chance to stick around longer.
Think of it like Bitcoin. If you couldn't buy drugs, gamble, pizza and actually buy legitimate items with it, it wouldn't be worth a whole lot since only (financial) traders would use it and a dip in price means nobody wants to hold them, causing the price to crash. I'm not saying the acceptance of bitcoin is the sole determinant of the price but it's certainly the most important factor.

We are still looking into a marketplace either our own would prefer a market that takes numerous coins as I think one that takes many alts is more applicable. Maybe this site uses cryptsy and a site that does USD to Bitoin to calculate the value of the specific item based on what the seller wants. Any other coins want to get together and look for someone to make such a market? The foundation could put up some coin and if others chimed in with some bounties maybe some nice web dev would make something that supports them in this fashion.
