The proper checkpointing system is in place. If you are still receiving the checkpoint warning you will need to redownload the blockchain.

Close your client. Go to start and search run. Run %appdata%. Go to the Bottlecaps folder and delete everything EXCEPT your wallet.dat and Bottlecaps.conf Restart your client




Linux/mac users sorry for the previous issues. I pushed the commits to avoid the checkpoint warnign showing up. All checkpoint issues are fixed and you should now be able to download the chain again. I have taken steps to prevent issues like this in the future

Didn't Balthazar design a way to dynamically inplace checkpoints ?

Thank you....I downloaded and installed. A couple of notes:

I did have to go into %appdata%. and delete everything except wallet.dat and Bottlecaps.conf as mentioned above to remove the checkpoint message.
After deleting the above the wallet would not connect to the network and I needed to modify Bottlecaps.conf with addnode parameters. Currently syncing.

Edit: And the warning for the wallet checkpoint being to old is still there after downloading the blockchain.

Well your not sounding dumb at all. Right now the windows link on the front page has a zipped file with no executable in it. They are in the process of releasing the latest version and unfortunately having a couple delays.

The link from a few posts back does have the latest; but, I think, you have to consider it BETA because it has a check point warning that will need to be resolved. It will give you a wallet though if your looking to solo mine.

Well I went through the entire process again, deleted files, downloaded the blockchain and still the same error. Heading home now and will install the client freshly on a different computer and see what I get.

Edit: Just added it to another computer and does not connect to network. Will have to use addnode in the .conf file to get it rolling.

Second Edit: Blockchain to old warning on second computer with new install @snaidervp don't know why your not getting it.

Version 1.3 Update notes:

We have added the checkpoint warning back into the mix. It is important to have regular checkpoints for a period of time until Proof of stake is fully active on the network. There may be frequent updates until a checkpointing system is in place ( It is in the works ) As of 7/16/2013 your client should not be displaying the checkpoint too old warning if you are running Verison 1.3 or have Pulled the source with the latest commits. Error fixes. Please make sure you use the download link above for the windows QT. I have not pushed it to github and removed the .exe from github to prevent people from downloading the old version temporarily. A windows installer will be released today as well

I apologize for the recent confusion and delays. I have been spreading my time thin between my job, Bottlecaps and a few other projects in my daily life. I will have more time to devote to Caps in the coming weeks and will continue to maintain the code until that time.

You are not sounding like that at all. There has been some confusion in the last few days.

If you are running a windows operating system please download the new V1.3 Windows qt from the link below. A windows installer will be released later today. The Original post has been update with the correct links and an explanation for the confusion.

I believe it may have something to do with the pool software. The issue is present with bitgem as well. I will continue to investigate this

Well thanks John I sent you a message...I'm also getting communication errors with the latest version and the blocks go stale (solo mining).....not a single problem with previous versions. Also using windows 7 here...on the 3 computers I've now installed the client on always with the same results.
