Trust can be built up, I would be willing to risk say ~$250 on a 1/1000th share rather than ~$2500 on a 1/100th share. Once I start seeing returns, I would then consider increasing my number of shares and maybe ultimately exceeding 1/100th share.

I think there is a hell of a lot more people who would get in at the ~$250 price range. You could incentivize 1/100th shares with a slight discount on the fees as compared to the smaller shares.

We aren't all whales, give us a chance to get in on the ground floor and we will take you up on your excellent idea.

You can put me down for at least 1 1/1000th share possibly 2 if you decide to go with that idea and that is just me getting started.

That makes a lot of sense. My only concerns are that it would be a lot more work to get 1,000 people to do something rather than 100 (though, I'm sure many would go for multiple shares). Also, there would be more maintenance on my end making sure if someone wanted to withdraw that I would work to fill their spot(s) quickly. I will think it over. If anyone else has any thoughts, please chime in or contact me privately.

What I might do is setup 1 masternode with 100 shares, then depending on demand and appetite from others, I could start another with 1000 shares. Some in the 100 share might want to reinvest profits in the second, plus it opens it up to more people. And by then I should have things more automated so it would be easier to manage.

I see where you are coming from but maybe there is a halfway house here. Have 90 1% shares and 100 0.1% shares and do it on a first come first serve basis. You could play around with those number say 50 1% shares and 500 0.1% shares or whatever works for you.

Please put me down for 2 0.1% shares if you go with that option. I will probably buy more within a few weeks if it goes well but I am afraid to jump in too deep too quickly.

If I eventually build up to 10 0.1% shares, you can swap me out for a 1% share and reuse the 10 0.1% shares for others, if that makes sense to you.

Updated to wallet 4.0.0996 beta aka 4.0.1. Two major issues:

1) In previous wallet it was necessary to encrypt wallet, then unlock it to stake. Can't encrypt / unencrypt wallet in 4.0.1 ("encryption" is greyed out). Other than than locking and unlocking wallet again doesn't seem to enable staking either (I believe we are well 36 hours into post block 180K).

2) Closing the wallet and opening again creates "database error" and then the wallet needs to reindex blocks from disk again, which on a fast SSD coupled with a 8600K @5Ghz takes over 15 minutes. That's just not okay. I believe another user had this bug as well.

Can anyone report that issue 1) and issue 2) has been resolved / working for them?

I can confirm that number 2 is a known issue and is being addressed - temporary fix is to leave the wallet locked.

This is a Beta release. An open beta release means the software is in the beta stage-feature complete - but likely to contain known or unknown bugs. The focus of an open beta release is to get feedback and improve to eliminate bugs and to incorporate feedback from end user testing for the official release.

Regarding staking, lupanar said:

Coins need to remature again for start to staking from block 180k, so block height that need orientate to is 182160, but as net currently have a lack of blocks per day due to POS disabled so reaching that block can take more than 36hrs.

Announcement

Please find the latest update on PoS re-introduction and the next steps - https://www.luxcore.io/pdf/Community_Update_12-02-2018.pdf

Refer to our Discord #faq channel for answers to some key questions.
I will quote the FAQ here for those who haven't joined Discord yet.

Quote
WHEN WILL STAKING START?
Staking will start once the testing is completed on the new-unique-to-Lux PoS Hash function and the code is released. To ensure expectations are set correctly and not to put undue pressure on our development team, there is no hard public date set for this one except that this will be soon.

AM I LOSING MY MN AND STAKING REWARDS?
1. No, You are not. The coins which are meant for PoS and MN are not being mined at the moment.
2.Once active, the 720 coins meant daily for Pos and MN will be available again.

WHEN WILL FINAL WALLET BE RELEASED?
Currently we have released Beta version. Final official release is after we have taken in all feedback, completed testing and post PoS hash re-introduction.

WHEN WILL COINBURN/SEGWIT HAPPEN?
Once the top priorities are completed and released successfully (PoS activation and wallet release).

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DELAY COINBURN, ISN’T IT SIMPLE?
As simple as it may sound, it is not considering we are reducing overall supply. We do not have the bandwidth to properly perform this and document the same for proof. (Some background on coin burns: https://medium.com/@alcio/how-to-destroy-bitcoins-255bb6f2142e)

WHY DOES MY WALLET TAKE SO LONG TO SYNC?
Due to DDoS, initial seeds were "overwhelmed". We have added more seeds and this is being addressed

WHY AM I GETTING ERRORS ON THE NEW WALLET?
This is a Beta release. An open beta release means the software is in the beta stage-feature complete- but likely to contain many known or unknown bugs. The focus of an open beta release is to get feedback and improve to eliminate bugs and to incorporate feedback from end user testing for the official release.

IF IT WAS AN ALPHA/BETA RELEASE, WHY WAS IT MANDATORY TO UPGRADE?
Both upgrades served different purposes. Alpha release ensured we are on the upgraded protocol as all previous versions were invalidated at 180k blockheight. Beta supports the PoS hash implementation for staking and Masternode rewards.

ARE YOU KIDDING US?
No we aren’t. We are as disappointed as you are, with the delay. We are now following a more pragmatic approach that is in the best interest of the community and the network.

As always, we appreciate your understanding and support!

I will never send private messages with payment requests for my auctions. I only communicate transparently via the forum (not Telegram, Discord, Skype & others). Please be wary of scammers.

Sorry I can't help directly. Based on this guy's posting timestamps, it looks like it took about 3 hours for him:

Before any wallet update make sure to backup the wallet.dat file.

In the first post of this thread they have the link to the 4.0.0 version, since they haven't updated the link yet. But you can see the link starts like this:  https://github.com/216k155/lux/releases

That will take you to the page with all of the releases, including the latest 4.0.1. Good luck!

If I read correctly staking will happen again soon. Do we need to do anything to facilitate that or will it happen automatically if our updated wallet is unlocked for staking?

Yes, no need in additional actions, will begin automatically.
