Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Is primecoin still worth mining on CPU's?

I have about 50 cores (i5's and i7's)

You can give it a try, but for sure 1 GPU is way faster than several CPUs.

I still hold all my XPM from 2013, I think there is a chance that BTC-E will add XMP/USD market. If that is going to happen then the value of XPM will be close to PPC & NMC.
But first you will see a very high peak, that's where you can make the most $$$ the first few hours of trading...  Grin Grin

With how bullish the market is, if they did that now, we would see 0.01btc per xpm soon lol

No.

To the contrary, I think that with the current evolution due to GPU mining that is just starting, we are going to see a resurgence of this coin.  It is a great coin, especially when you look at the intricate complexities of the math behind primecoin.  Some may debate the value of the prime chains found, but whatever value, it is infinitely more valuable than the proof of work of many random scamcoins that are pushed and pumped lately.

I have been collecting xpm since Nov of last year and the last time I had my wallet open all coins were confirmed. The wallet version is the one thats on there main website, 0.1.2

well the latest post about primecoin is
---
Recently there have been multiple GPU mining development for Primecoin. Primecoin is designed to be a powerful network for scientific computing and the first to bring such technology to cryptocurrency world. It's expected Primecoin network would migrate to GPU mining and ASIC mining just like Bitcoin did. Prime algorithm hardwares are important contribution to computation technology in general. We certainly welcome such development. In the next primecoin release, the proposed v0.2 protocol would be readied on testnet so mining developers could test against v0.2 protocol to ensure future compatibility.
