  Sd card FS is dead and booting still ok.

you can use usb flash and write image to it then make some change in cmdline.txt
dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait

I just got some old style H cards today so I shutdown and inserted the cards.  And of course when I restarted, the SD card won't boot.  This has happened every single time I've shutdown and restarted.  Why?!  Now I have to re-image the card and try again.

I couldn't guess what's causing the problem. But I can answer your question.

SD cards are CHEAP. You should have a few already flashed, then it's a 30 second issue.

agreed. the kingston sdcards are realllllly realllly bad. if you blow on them wrong, they die. I picked up a few spare SDs for ~$6.

not sure if it helps, but i've been adding the 'sync' command before shutting down my bitfurys...like the old days.

the one and ONLY time i used the shutdown command, my sd card needed to be re-imaged in order to start up the system. I ALWAYS turn off the psu if i want to turn off the miner, and turn on the miner via turning on the psu

I did have a backup card ready to go.  But that one became corrupted too at startup, lol.  I imaged both the cards again and voila, running again.

The cards are running well without OC at 33GH/s average between the 4 new cards.

I've been using shutdown, but it reboots automaticly. so when it asks for a login i turn off the power supply. so far that hasn't hurt the SD card.
